I wouldn't go the polygraph route - as other posters have indicated it is not the reliable tool we think it is. Think of it this way, if he fails the polygraph - he has betrayed you. If he passes it, does this mean he did not betray you, or just he finagled a way to 'fool' the test? If he fooled the test, then he has betrayed you. If he did not betray you, you still have an underlying trust issue . If he refuses the polygraph, does it mean he has betrayed you? or does it mean, he is hurt at your lack of trust. Either way you cut it, regardless of the outcome there is an issue of trust. It's a losing situation. Get counselling for yourslef, start to protect your interests in case you did split (your own bank account, etc), start collecting every possible bit of information, scan documents and back them up on separate discs and store those in a safety deposit box, etc.

So many different 'conversations' going on here at one time... BBK: voted; will vote again tomorrow. Fairy: I concur with Froggi - you find out and keep it a secret from those that don't want to know. Denise: For a lawyer, your boss seems stupid. No lawyer worth their salt would want anyone who is any kind of addict - that makes her staff more susceptible to inapproriate behaviours and potentially compromising her cases. luluc: retiring before 40...way to go! I had my retirement all planned out for 40 as well, and then, well...life/shi*t happened. So here I am in my 50's thinking maybe I can retire by 60......ARGHHH froggi - Nothing cheesy about burying a pet and marking the site...I had a mini graveyard in one of my previous homes. And it is Thursday - finally.

And the rain is too wet! I will accept a mere 12.7 million in damages, and forgo the mental trauma claim if paid within 30 days, and with a public apology to all of us who prefer our rain to be dry.

Good for you, BBK. Hugs.

Just wanted to share this NSV

A good garage band's name! -
Thanks a lot, Plain! (please read with sufficient sarcasm) You take us down this path, diverting the attention from the real issue - precious metals aside - a pound is a pound!!! Now stop it! Don't make me come down there!!! You are all nuts, you know that? Perhaps that's why I love you so!! Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers... Question - how did the peppers get pickled before they were picked?

Although the thread was talking about weight, I just thought I would add exercise. I had committed to adding walking 3X a week to my exercise regime. Last night was once...2 more times to go this week.

Oh RSG, that really sucks! Is there no one higher in the bureacracy running the gym that you can talk with? Forking over that much money at once is just wrong; geez people, you would think they would want to keep a customer and find ways to meet in the middle. So everyone, knowing that nuts are my 'forbidden fruit'...what would you do? A co-worker (none of whom know about my surgery or my nut addiction), is a real health fanatic - she takes fitness and healthy eating to a new level of weirdness (in my warped opinion)- she sits on a stability ball at her desk and does endless sets of ab crunches while on the phone...but I digress. Anyhoo, she just came to my office, and said (in a low voice), I've noticed you losing weight, and I know you are doing a lot more physical activity now, that's great. I thought I would show you my support." She then presented me with, you guessed it, a homemade Protein nut bar liberally covered with chopped nuts. I thanked her profusely, and suggested I would take it home to have 'later' (as in my nut night Saturday), but she says, No. I really want for you to have it as your afternoon snack - it will give you so much energy and we can nibble on them and walk the stairs at the same time. (that's right, on her breaks, she runs up 14 flights of stairs, walks down and does it again) She means well, but ohhhhhh myyyyy..

Ouchhh . . . My butt hurts . . . Is it the band?

What a great giggle! Do you mean to suggest that there are bones under this blubber of mine??? -
Not for the queasy, an inside view of my band

I'm sure for many, this was educational; thanks for posting. Of course, I was also interested in the gallbladder pics too. -
OK Glou...how did you fare last night? Ezma - this must be a very difficult time for you and your family. My thoughts are with you. I am a stress eater - a situation like this would send me scurrying for the nuts. I hope you can find a healthy alternative; keep the focus on health!

How do you know this is right for you?
tapshoes replied to magquilter's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Sober second (and third, and fourth...) thoughts are important. Do your research based on trusted sources such as REPUTABLE medical journals and independent studies. Question everything, trust no one. You will know you are ready when you don't even have to ask 'Am I ready'. -
BBK - I'm sorry to hear/read of this. Focus on you and the kids. Froggi - sorry to hear about your hamster. Deaths of my pets always make me say 'no more, never again', but....

Why am I still holding on to those clothes?
tapshoes replied to coolcrystal's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was tempted to take a pic of my closet to post here. Why? Because as I did take the 2 green garbage bags, plus 1 huge box to Goodwill, hanging in my double closet are 6 blouses, 3 suits and 3 pairs of pants...there's almost an echo in there! Seriously, I think I am going to have to hit the thrift store and do some shopping...I won't wear anything too long (I hope), and the cost of having 2 suits remade was almost a budget breaker! -
Ezma, I am sorry to hear of your husbands recurrence. :sad:Without wanting to pry, have treatment options been discussed? I will keep you and your husband in my prayers. Good for you to resist the temptation. I made it through last night too! DH decided that we would have a small bonfire and sit outside (bloody cool enough for it too!), and so, the potential threat was averted...I was no where near the kitchen. Whew! 3 nights down....

Lunch from "Heck"...Dang sliming!
tapshoes replied to weightisover's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
In the entire process of educating myself on the band, and conversations with the doc, the nurse, the nutritionist etc, it was repeated over and over...the size of bite to put into your mouth should be about the size of a pencil eraser, and then chew the living daylights out of it. So if it was pencil eraser sized going into the mouth, it should be mush going down the gullet. I have PB'd too (at 7 months out it would be miraculous if I hadn't!), but every time it was the result of not chewing the food to bits. -
My doc is not a believer in taking supplements of any kind; proper nutrition through proper eating. HOWEVER, given that sometimes I just know I am not getting enough of the 'good stuff' because I have so little in the way of fruit (not veg), I take a no-name daily multi-vitamin.

Carbonated drinks, caffiene, no drinks with meals
tapshoes replied to kaytiebugs's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Giving up soda was difficult - I was addicted to Diet Coke! But, in the scheme of things, it just didn't seem to be as good compared with being thinner. Caffeine - luckily my doc has nothing against caffeine! I have coffee (several cups) every day. The most difficult part was waiting 60 min after a meal, but after 7 months, it doesn't bother me anymore. I can clean up the dishes, tidy the kitchen, then brew the coffee and relax after dinner. -
What kind of margarine/mayo do you use?
tapshoes replied to kaytiebugs's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Like Jack, on the rare occasion I want butter, I use butter. For substitutions for mayo in things like tuna salad, I now use the spinach dip from Tostitas (this was on the suggestion of a bandster to use in chicken salad, and now I use it in tons of things...devilled eggs, chicken salad etc). If it is something that just HAS to have mayo, I use the real thing. BUT I rarely (maybe once every few months) need to do so. -
Yesterday B: 1 banana blended with 1 cup ice and 1 cup skim milk S: 1/4 cup melon L: 3/4 cup tuna salad; 1/4 cup melon D: 1/2 stuffed zucchini boat, 1/2 chicken breast

Hugs to you, BBK. Scream if you want, rant, rage, curse, whimper, cry...all at once, if need be! We'll be here.

i am so happy to see this post; I was wondering what had happened to you. I am so pleased for you. Congratulations on not only the weight loss but also the self-realization!

Skinnyhappy...did you break your plateau? I am being very conscientious about my Water intake (not a problem... several liters of water a day is the norm), and I have upped my Protein - adding a little cheese to meals, or as a snack. So, I am going to have faith that this plus the extra exercise plus the nut embargo will show some results...of course i want the results NOW, but I am willing to wait ...is tomorrow too soon???
