Thanks RSG; you are a very sweet person!

OK - This is the first time I have joined an exercise challenge thread. I've lurked a lot, been embarrased by my pathetic efforts compared to most of you guys (I would usually read your posts, and mutter under my breath that you were all hard-core fanatics with masochistic tendancies).... But here I am. So, my committment is to swim 4 days a week, and do some other activity 3 times a week. Oct 1 - swam for 30 minutes; briskly walked for 40 Oct 2 - swam for 40 minutes; briskly walked for 30 Oct 3 - swam for 30; paced outside my office door for 70 minutes. Feel free to contact/encourage/harass me if I disappear from view...

Nutritional value of beans and some recipes please!
tapshoes replied to Apples2's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The cakes sound delicious...I shall try them this weekend. I use Beans ALOT...baked beans, boiled beans, I bake with them (yes, lots of recipes use beans as a way to reduce fat eg. black bean brownies), I use them in chili's, in sauces, as a snack.... If you make baked beans, you can substitute other types of beans - eg lima beans makes an excellent change from pea beans. -
Congratulations! It does feel wonderful doesn't it?

I am sorry to hear that Nanook. Best wishes for you in your future. Take care. -
I did my 3rd additional exercise yesterday - that's my 3 for the week. And then this morning, because I forgot my office keys, I paced for an hour and ten minutes waiting for a coworker to arrive. And it was a semi-brisk pace (I didn't want to go too fast and build up a sweat and be stinky for the day, but it was not a stroll either). So, a little extra this week...yeah!

Thanks be it is Friday! I went for my morning swim at the Y and someone was in my lane. I know, I know, they aren't reserved etc, but I've got a fav lane, and the regulars such as myself have a routine, and then someone messes it up. It just threw off my morning. Then I came to work and realized that I had forgotten my office key, so I spent 65 minutes pacing waiting for a coworker to arrive. This day better end soon...

I eat it; chew thoroughly and enjoy.

Bust duster - needed after every meal I eat...my chest shelf does a good job of stopping the drop to the floor!

OK luluc, I will see if I can remember to toss something else in the feedbag tomorrow!
-
They last forever - I'm assuming you mean the dried ones. So, like any other dried beans, they will remain good. Ummm, have your family tried them? DH vetoed lima beans until I made a limabean casserole - yummy!

A quadruple batch goes a lonnnnngggggg way! So, it will be lunch for perhaps the next week. I could alternate and throw in other stuff, but at 430am, the first thing in my hand gets thrown into my lunch bag!

Why does my lentil soup not seem as appetizing now?

P.S. RSG - I love the new pic!

Thanks ladies. Payday is Friday so grocery shopping is on Saturday. I shall be hunting for them! RSG - When my sister moved to California, her first Xmas she was missing snow so much, they rented a truck, drove to the mountains, filled the truck with snow, drove back to their house, made a snowman, and then watched it melt....her children have seen snow once - when they came to visit their grandmother, and they were so excited they too made little snowpeople - they liked the snow, but not the cold, or having to wear boots and mittens!!!
-
WOW - Way to go Lil Miss and RSG. Your weight losses (and more importantly) your ATTITUDE are great! Question: do all of your doc's put you on liquids and mushies post fill? My guy - just fluids for 24 hours, and then regular eating. Maybe when I get my next fill, I will try for a longer period of liquids...nah, wouldn't happen. I know myself too well.
-
NO NO NO...don't tempt me! No more animals, none, never... have a pic?

Just because I have such a bizarre sense of humor....being PC means we agree with Plain?? As charming a man as he undoubtably is, PC is not the descriptor I would use!!

Anybody's spouse an "eating buddy"?

DH and I both love to eat and love to cook. food was a major part of our relationship, and that hasn't changed. I still do a lot of baking; I just don't eat any of it. I put it in individual servings, and pop it into the freezer, and when DH wants something sweet, he gets it out and enjoys. DH still cooks a lot; we eat it, just in smaller portions. I decided at the beginning that this surgery would not be like a diet with eliminating foods from my diet or the house. Everything is allowed, just in portions. We never did go out to eat a lot - we both can cook better food for less at home. I have upped my activities; DH has not, but that's ok. We don't have to do everything together, and we each benefit from having our own interests. Now into my 8th month, this is working for us. -

Im sorry to hear about your husbands health issues; I hope all are resolved soon. Stress eating is just SOOO easy; my mind is on something else so it doesn't even feel the messages from my stomach. Shinyhappy had some great ideas; I would indulge in low fat cheeses - I love cheese, but the regular kind is high in fat. I've looked at (a few times) the couch to 5K but I haven't got past 'looking' at it. Unfortunately, looking at it doesn't count, does it? Good luck on your extra exercise, and on DH's job search. Believe THEIR scale RSG. They are calibrated and tend to be more reliable than regular ones. Besides, a 6 lb loss would do wonders for your psyche!! Believe it!!

In which section of the store would I find these, RSG? I love trying new things, and something to help my nut nuttiness would be great! I really appreciate your support on this. And when I try them, I will let you know. Ezma - Such strength. You demonstrate great strength in adversity, and I wish you luck with the insurance, and your husband success with the rehab. You ARE doing much better with the icecream...stay away from Cold Stone!!! Please, don't tell me there is heat somewhere - I have put the down comforter on the bed, am wearing my fall coats, and have the central heat on.....
