I hate it when people post just to post.....

Posting to post on a Tuesday morning. I forgot my glasses at home, and will now suffer through the day alternating squinting and tilting my head to see the screen...Could I convince everyone to use really large fonts for the remainder of today??? Damn aging process, damned astigmatism...

i am staying on plan today because ...

for the first time since banding in Feb, I went UP in weight this week! ARGHHHHH!!! I know it is temporary, I know it will go down again, but I need to stay on plan and NOT get discouraged (too much!)

How did you decide your goal weight?

My doctor suggested a mid-range normal BMI weight. If I get there, we shall reassess. I'll let you know ... if I'm ever 'normal'!

How do you beat stress to achieve weight loss?

Great question - things which at different times have had varying degrees of success for me include: reading a book cross-stitch or knitting (this either helps me, or makes it worse depending on the day) having a nap (not a good strategy at work) baking - as I don't have a sweet tooth, baking to me can be very therapeutic yet not in the least tempting housework - I enjoy cleaning, and can really get into organizing a cupboard, or cleaning the spice drawer or washing a wall Notice how exercise was NOT one of the choices???

    Givin' up the ice cream

Hi Brenda There is no set plan of what I eat; I eat everything including pasta etc. Not everyone is the same - you have to figure out what you can handle. I do not have problem with bread or pasta, and others do. Some can't eat raw veggies, whereas for others (like me) it is a non-issue. There is a thread in the nutrition section (what you ate today); lots of ideas there. I have had 6 fills (and one slight unfill) to reach this point. I knew I had it when I could not eat more than 1 cup of food at any time. Some people go to a level of one-half a cup or so, but I am relatively happy at this level. Good luck on your journey, and keep us posted.

    Accountability

For the first time since I was banded, I ...GAINED weight. AFter all my hard work, I gained. I know I missed some exercise but only 2 days, and I really did try to stick with the band plan even when I was on a business trip. And I gained. I am just so discouraged.

    Monday Morning Coffee

Just got signed on - earlier the site was down, and I just didn't get a chance to get back. So, I will have an early afternoon coffee with you! Gotta have my coffee hot strong and black - no 'contaminants'!! Had a good weekend - that is, enjoyable. Not a good weekend food and exercise, but that's over now. Had bro and his sons over for dinner yesterday; went apple picking; read 2 books; did a little knitting; and generally just vegged... What's your costume, RSG? Last year we had only 1 child come trick-or-treating on Halloween - that kid lucked out. She got ALL the goodies that DH had bought anticipating 100 kids! Nothing much else going on in my life - same old, same old.

    Accountability

So away on business and just catching up on things. I did not get my exercise in, so yesterday I did 40 minutes on my treadmill - variable speeds 2 - 4.5, and variable inclines 0 - 7...holy crap, it just about killed me! So last week I managed to do my usual exercise 3 days, and 3 additional events. Gotta do some more today....

RSG - I am just SO pleased for you! Your plateau is broken, it wasn't a quirk of the scales, you are doing so good! Nope, not a tinge of jealousy - you have worked so hard for this.

    Givin' up the ice cream

So, I'm still nut free....well mostly. I had a scoop of peanut butter on an apple for lunch...but that's allowed, right? I don't have it often (a few weeks ago, I think), AND I did not then have my nut allotment last night. So in my pea-brain I'm sticking with the plan....weigh in is tomorrow!

    Healthy Thursday

Well as predicted healthy Thursday didn't work out - catered meals in business meetings do NOT lend themselves to band or calorie or healthy friendly choices. No cheese, no fruit but morning pastries, decadent Desserts, no breaks (other than 10 min bio breaks). Friday was recovery - but not too bad, although I didn't get the exercise in. I think I will try for next week - this one's been shot.

    OT - Hubby Update

Ezma I am sorry to hear of your insurance difficulties, and you must be going through he@@ trying to keep sane. Is there anyone you can call to be a respite for you on occasion, or to 'fight the fight' with insurance companies? My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I hate it when people post just to post.....

WOW!! You go away for three days and the thread grows by leaps and bounds! So, catching up on all the discussions: LJM - Congrats on the bandiversary Plain as a gun-toting Ken doll - the imagery is ... interesting. Shopping at Target - alas no Target around me. Love going where there are Target stores. Ding Dongs and HoHos - blech! Happy Birthday to Alex. Learning to eat, Mac? Hope you are healing well. It's a beautiful Sunday morning - no traffic on the road, the sun is not yet up, the coffee is hot and (for a pleasant change) the cats are not decorating my lap or the desk. How are the puppies, L? New pics to show? Geography - I am always disgusted when I meet my fellow citizens who can't locate most of the states, or identify what our neighbors North or South have as geographic organizations (forget political structures or knowledge of their culture, etc). And as for international locations...sad, really. For a fun/depressing time, take any online geography test...

I hate it when people post just to post.....

I am heading into 2 days of meetings in another location - I will be internet-less! I'm going into withdrawal thinking of it (particularly when I KNOW that much time will be wasted in circular arguments, and I could be much more productive if I were on-line). I'll check in on the weekend................

    Do you attend support meetings?

Ditto! I too live several hours away from my clinic; regular visits are just no going to happen. LBT to the rescue!

    Healthy Thursday

A great idea - but can we make it Friday? I have to go out of town on business meetings tomorrow, and between the 4 am start, and hotel meals (x2) I don't think it is going to be my day. Otherwise, I'm in for next Thursday!
