I have to keep the scale going down.... -
My losses are very irregular, and have been since the beginning of the journey 9 months ago. And as I am post-menopause, the TOM is not an issue. I lost quickly for the first 3 months, and a lot of weight each week, then it slowed to a trickle for 3 months with a weight loss of maybe 1 pound one week, then nothing, then 2. Then I hit a plateau from he** that lasted 6 weeks. And now, I am back to losing, but s l o w l y...oh so slowly. I think it is the body adjusting at certain points to the 'new weight', and then after a bit (whether it is one week or 6) it starts again. As long as it is going down, I am (mostly) content - although I would like to lose more and faster, but I tell myself I didn't gain it in one year, why should i lose it in one? CoolCrystal - love the new pic.

Portion size??? You mean, as in how many teaspoons, more accurately tablespoons, ok maybe cups??? Does that answer the question? I have NO control - peanuts, peanut butter, *Tap hangs her head in shame*

Today 20 min on the wave. 20 min stationary bike...next time, do the cycling first, because the wave just kills me!

That WAS a revelation, wasn't it Ezma? Guess that's why 'they' advise using a calorie counter for your foods....find those 'hidden' calories and fat grams. So, knowledge enables action and now that you know, you can change your routines. Way to go!!! PS I hope hubby is doing better.
-
Thinner - whatever works for you is obviously the plan to follow. Congrats on avoiding the chocolates...maybe someone else at work put them there so they could avoid temptation! Ezma - Yah! So now there is no need to feel that temptation any more???? OK - I had some peanut butter on apple slices last night. Why oh why do nuts taste so good AND have to be a good source of protein?? That just gives me an excuse.

PJTP - It's a dreary blechy kind of day, so I have the IPOD loaded with music from South America and am dreaming of white sand beaches, tanned scantily clad muscular males serving me tropical drinks while I bask in the warm salt air.....

Very Discouraged (graphic in a spot, might not want to read)

You have received excellent advice from the other posters. Take each and every test, document everything you can think of, check and double check and triple check on each and every document that all the info is there (trust me, someone wasn't approved because the full name wasn't on 1 of the zillion forms). Your doc does not want you to be overweight, so he/she will (or should be willing to ) help you identify each possible condition of which you are borderline or have or are heading to. Do not let your husbands opinion dissuade you, do not give up until the final ultimate appeal to the last insurance company says no, and then, find the money and do it self-pay if you have to. We have been there. We understand -
Whoo hoo, peabody - You are doing Great!! Whatever tool works for each of us, we need to find it, and remember to use it!
-
WE are NOT disappointed in you. You experienced an unusual event and it took a toll (physically and emotionally). That was then. This is now. You are past it. You have taken the steps to address it, and it's back on track. Welcome back. Keep visiting us - we need each other!

Ebony - Yay! That's great! SNT - aren't NSV's great? Keep it up - the NSV's, not the clothing sizes!

RSG - I understand feeling ashamed - remember I'm the one that ate 4 cups of chilied chickpeas in one night AFTER supper! But by your own admission you ARE doing better, and that's the key. We all just have to try to do better than the previous day or week or weekend. Unlike you though, I could never be filled on 1 chicken strip (or part thereof). Then again, my doc is a firm believer in 1 cup or 1.5 cups of food/meal which is significantly more than many others. It works for me though - when I remember and work with the band. You know your key issue - drinking with the meal. So, I will try to remember to periodically remind you to make sure there is no glass on the table when you are eating. I will nag from a distance! As for hiding - I used to do that too - sneak into the kitchen after my parents were asleep and grab some bread and then head back to my bedroom to eat it. Even when I lived alone, I would still feel 'guilty' about going into the kitchen and getting food at night. Those issues took a long time to deal with, and even now in my 50's I still have recurrances.

It's great that you have identified your trigger Trenya07, and that you are dealing with it. Keep it up!
-
Don't tell me that you should have knowledge of something before voting???!!! This info is a little too late, don't ya think??
-
Well, I leave the tree up and the decorations and use the christmas dishes etc until after dinner on the epiphany (Jan 6). So I guess I do overflow into Jan, but not past the 6th.

You don't like oatmeal? I don't think I've ever met a non-oatmeal person. Zumba sounds like fun - I have asked my Y if it is possible for perhaps next semester.

I'm afraid to be totally honest on the questionnaire
tapshoes replied to Christine_California's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I agree with a previous poster...in order to help YOU they need to know what your trigger issues are, and then work with you to address them. By not answering honestly you are more likely to not find the support you need when you have the surgery, because the clinic won't know your needs. Be honest. -
I really don't know...I guess in the far distant past when I was introduced to them it was at a christmas function. Since then, I associate them only with Christmas - besides they're red and green. Just as I associate G&T ONLY with outside in the summer during the day...never at night, never at any other time of the year, and never indoors. Um...I have a whole list of which drinks for when...in case someone wants to know my 'rules'.

Probably. Your anger may be understandable, but to search 'his truck' then open up the bag, and then shred the contents is (IMO) over the top. You are right though, he probably won't ask you about the bag! Did you leave the empty bag (and really make him squirm wondering where the mag is:sneaky:) or remove it too?
