Too late! Im at my desk now; I will earn my pay, I will not be a suzie-socialite and partygal. I will work.
-
Confession - I am sitting here contemplating working from home because I KNOW I will be the only one working while at work while the few others who show up will be eating chocolates/candies and socializing. But, I suppose I will do the right thing......maybe.

Good morning! 'Tis the last working day until Jan for me - yahoo! So many topics to catch up on... Good to see you haven't lost your multi-quoting prowess Plain. Nor that you feel threatened or jealous of the addition of another man to the PJTP thread. Another man associated with a uniform (cammo)....wait, I drifted off there. No reason to be jealous Plain. Right ladies? That's it ladies. Use THAT tone - all men are suckers for it. Well, except Plain; he would never be fooled by false sincerity - he's too smart, too wise, too worldly.... Wine - only DRY, reds please. No sweet Reislings or champagnes...ew! Mac - used to love it when my wet hair would freeze...I was about 12 years old then. Now - not so much. She - how can someone hate onions???? That's like hating peppers or garlic - hating a staple of so may wonderous culinary creations. She - painting with hubby. Perhaps use the strategy of: Dear, I know that you have worked so hard this year. Let me treat you to a nicely painted room. That way you do it - the right way; he stays out of it. Dutch oven - don't have one. Make french onion soup without it.

Ahem.....I prefer 'unique'. Or 'rare'. or even 'one-of-a-kind'... Guess you don't think it is normal that DH and his ex shared a house after the divorce so that the children did not have to be uprooted or anything. They shared a duplex - everyone won! And the ex visited us last month - with one of her daughters from her previous marriage, and her spouse and children....
-
That's it! Exactly!
-
I gotta confess...I do not understand all your family dramas. DH's parents are dead; DH loves my mother - he's more inclined to ask her to stay for weeks at a time than I am. DH and his ex-wife and his ex-MIL are all the assorted other ex-relations are all friends. In fact, over the holidays, DH's ex-MIL is having her 90th birthday, and everyone including DH and I are invited! I only weigh once a week - at the Y. Still refuse to own a set of scales....

No no no. I'm sure it was a wistful mere hint of a smile - you know the one. The one that says (without it being spoken), "Dear, I will miss you terribly. But as the dutiful wife, I will of course grant this oh so rare request, even though it will be like a million deaths to me inside.".... Am I good, or what???

Consider yourself thoroughly pummeled by snowballs!

Hell is warm-ish (or os it is widely reported/stated); this place sure isn't!

PJTP-Why am I the only worker who is working at work today?
-
And I quote: "WHITEOUTS IN HEAVY SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW ARE LIKELY IN THESE SQUALLS. SNOW SQALLS ARE EXPECTED LEAVING LOCAL SNOW AMOUNTS OF 8 TO 15 INCHES. WIND CHILL WARNING..THE COMBINATION OF STRONG WESTERLY WINDS AND VERY COLD ARCTIC AIR IS PRODUCING EXTREME WIND VALUES OF MINUS 20"

Trade ya...it's supposed to snow many days this week... WAHHH!!!!!!!! :scared2: (Except for opening prezzies in the morning; we do that after dinner - 7ish or so). Im late this morning- it is 453 am and I still have the driveway to be shoveled. Ciao!

ShinyHappy - that is marvellous!! Congratulations!

To maximize the confusion factor.

Yah!!! Love this! My band, my waistband, my liver..... Thanks Beth. Because she is in a wheelchair she is entrusted to the American Airlines staff who (like all airlines) provide an escort/assistance function. But knowing that airlines are experiencing weather delays, and the general chaos of holiday travel, and frazzled nerves and just being human, sometimes they temporarily forget someone as (poor souls) they frequently have more than 1 person to look after. And my mother would NEVER ask for help - she would sit there in her wheelchair for hours. I'm sure she will be fine, but there is still a worry....

CC- YAY on the scale loss! The quilt sounds lovely; as a quilter I would love to see the finished product. Luluc - I too have my PJs on - but that's because I use them as long underwear under my sweats, and then snowpants and down vest as I once again venture into the wild winter weather. Gotta say - the shoveling is easier with weight gone; my stamina is improved. Still don't like to do it though....

Congrats on the insurance news! Re: Diabetes. There are 2 types of diabetes - insulin dependent and non-insulin dependent. If you do not require insulin, but rather control your diabetes with a pill and/or diet, your diabetes may 'go away'...that is, a normal weight with a normal diet and exercise will control the sugars, and your pancreas will process your foods as with non-diabetics.. So the lap band will address the underlying cause of your abnormal sugars.

Hey Bambam - welcome to the PJTP thread. PJTP - my frail elderly mother was supposed to be en-route to California for Christmas, but the weather conditions have created all sorts of havoc on her flights. I sincerely hope she gets out on her re-re-scheduled flight on MOnday....her grandchildren will be so disappointed if she doesn't arrive for christmas. Here's hoping AA personnel aren't so frazzled by then that they forget the quiet sick woman in a wheelchair - she would never raise a fuss, or her voice, and would just sit there... Gotta grab another java, and then go shoveling.
-
Ohhhh - a calendar of slutty lb guys....a fireman, a policeman, a farmer....
-
Didn't do anything yesterday - the Y was closed due to the weather. So far today 45 min of hard shoveling; round two in another 15 min or so..... Round 2 - another 45 min of shoveling...
-
Ummm let's see....my toes are little icebergs and my fingers, arms and legs are tingling as they warm up.
Yep, I'm cold! Oh well, only another 3 or 4 months of snow.
-
First 45 min of hard shoveling done; now taking a break before I head out again. Ahhh hot coffee.....
-
I don't know why I am even recording things recently - it's not like it is helping me modify my eating....grrrr! Yesterday: B: 1 oz cheese L: staff potluck: one small bite of: chili; baked beans; caesar salad, greek salad; cheese; spiced nuts D: was ravenous as lunch was less than usual, and dinner was late - wolfed down buffalo chicken - about 3 bites. Paid the price: was PBing for about 30 min. OWWWWWWW. Tried tomato soup later...nope. Then tried yogurt.....ahh relief.

Situation: My employer (as an organization, hereafter 'C') is bidding a staff member for a huge contract job. The person they are proposing is a friend (. The potential contractor (A) is a huge national organization with fab benefits, etc. Coincidentally, I know the HR person at A who will be doing the hiring. As part of my work for C, I follow-up on contract bids, etc. Yesterday I contacted C in my capacity as negotiator; discussed the 'fit' of B for the position, and daily rate etc. According to my contact, B is a potential contract hire but not the top candidate. OUt of the blue, the person says, I'm shocked you didn't apply as an employee. The job says your name all over it. Why the hell don't you apply? Confession: I really want to apply. Better job, better benefits, better salary. BUT.....it just seems wrong; like I would be skewering my friend B for my gain. I hadn't even thought of the position when the organization was considering bidding on it.

ummm...right. that's it. Of course....
