Crap! When do you guys ever sleep? You seem to be posting night and day...so bemoans Tap with jealousy. I cannot possibly catch up on all the posts... Waiting for the tree guy to arrive with his boom truck to remove the tree from the roof. Had high winds last night; the sounds of the branches rubbing against the roof were LOUD and constant. Meanwhile DH is getting our chainsaw and handsaws and loppers from the shed so that we can be cutting and stowing and removing the branches. Apparently the tree guys only remove the tree from the roof but leave it on the yard for the owner to deal with...I guess even if I don't hit the gym I will be getting a lot of exercise today.

Well isn't THAT a lovely thing to read first thing in the morning??? DH and I stayed up last night (something we rarely do, both early birds), and therefore we slept in today. Now I feel all 'out of sorts' - it's 8am and I am just starting my day....going back to work next week is going to be difficult if I let my normal routines go to hell this week.

Update on fallen tree branch The good news - as far as they can tell, the only damage is the fascia, eavestrough, and about 3 foot square of the roof. The bad news - that's all they can see, as the branch was too big to be cut without risk of further damage. As the adjuster said - that's not a branch, that's a tree trunk! They have called in a boon truck for tomorrow to hold and lift the branch/trunk so they can see what damage is beneath it. Stay tuned tomorrow, for another installment of the life of Tapshoes.

Beth - Why not just tell them that your daughter and grand-daughter are coming for a visit? If they are at all smart/polite they will realize the bedroom number is insufficient, and will volunteer to leave. If they do not pick up on that, then DH can talk with his friend privately....

I must remember that line! Gotta find someone who is willing to get out the ladder (after first digging their way to the shed), to then climb the ladder and move the branch before I could put a tarp on. Oddly enough, not a lot of people are around today...unless the neighbors can see the problem and are hiding inside their houses ... Absolutely positive that's what he meant, in his ever so eloquent style. Good reminder about the camera though - must finish this note and then go take some pics... UPDATE: Regional office Adjuster phoned; the adjuster for my town will call me when he is finished at another location...apparently the singular gust of strong winds this morning caused a few problems; I'm 'on the list'.

Thanks. It may only be in my mind, but I swear I can feel cold air blowing through the house now. I hope it is NOT real - that would suggest a MAJOR problem...and I cannot afford a major problem!!!

OUCH!! 7 pounds - you can do it Lulu! I think 7 pounds is probably what I gained on my stomach alone! Snort!!!

I'll let you know when/if it happens!

ARGGHHHH!!!! Around 6am I heard a huge C-R-A-C-K sound, felt the house shake, the cats when racing for the basement and I jumped out of my skin! I searched the inside of the house - nothing unusual. Dressed in my outside gear, went outside....a HUGE tree has cracked in half in the back yard, and one main branch although still attached at one point to the trunk is on the roof. From the ground - I can see damage....did I mention it is pouring freezing rain?!?!? DH is at work. Called the insurance company. Their words - don't try to remove it until the adjuster sees it. WTF? What makes them think I am going to get out a 50' extension ladder, prop it up in the ice/snow and go climbing?? When is the adjuster coming? Tap asks nicely. "We don't know; it is difficult to find an adjuster working on this weekend. It's the Xmas break" says the insurance person. Tap is a little agitated...there is the potential that the roof is badly damaged; I can't see it from the ground, but I do know that water and ice falling would not be good if the roof has a hole. Perhaps sooner rather than later would be a good idea. Adjuster: well, I will see what I can do. Still waiting for an adjuster - almost 5 hours later.

My confession - there is not one day in the last week that I ate like a bandster...even PBing didn't stop me. Why oh why do I not have any self-control???? Let's see if I can just get through this day.

WOW - There is no way I can catch up on all the events since last I posted. Reading just the last page or so.... She - you have been busy. It's always such a great feeling when the job is done Beth - that child is beautiful. Enjoy your time with her. CC- your daughter is fortunate to have you helping her through this...now comes the real 'easy :glare:' part - living a bandster life. BBK - OUCH! Hope you and your daughter are feeling better. Bambam - nope. Don't understand the attraction to games like Guitar hero/Rockband. So, time for me to get back on the bandster wagon - I not only fell off, I've been run over by it! Non-stop eating for the last 4 days and I feel slow bloated lethargic sick! If you pace yourself you can eat WAY too much food - blech!!

Lots of hugs to give - Ceredad, Coloradochick, Susan, BBK. To all my friends here, may you enjoy peace, and a joyful Holiday/Christmas/Hannukah.
-
Congratulations Brandy! Plain - Do your 'workers' speak English? Bad mistake.
-
Ditto! And same to you PLain. And now, DH and I are headed out to shovel...so that he can go do his shopping!
-
Scandalous! Next thing they'll want is the chains from their feet removed and ....gasp...a door that cannot be locked form the outside.
-
True. How very true. Sad, but true!
-
Oh good grief! How does your son react?
-
It was VERY subtle....
-
Now I'm starting to dislike these people, and I don't even know them! She is your daughter and therefore their grandchild. Full stop. Give DD an extra hug!
-
I hope your daughter isn't made to feel second best.... PJTP - My sister sent a lovely white floral arrangement - with a message that said "We miss the snow" PJTP the sequel - my mother arrived in California. Safe and sound - exhausted, and late, but she arrived. Whew!!!
-
I have had (knock on wood) no problems with any lettuce varieties or cabbage whether raw or cooked. Love my greens!
-
yes indeed.

Oh I remember commuter train days well....and not that fondly! Great gesture! Congrats on the new pant size! And getting behind....that's my fear too!

I am SO pleased to read that! I finally found a group that would accept the many christmas fruit cakes my mother and I made (we make MANY MANY more than DH and my brother could EVER eat, and local shelters etc don't accept home-made foods). There is a flight school for foreign pilots-in-training in town; I suggested that these poor souls might be missing their families and homemade goodies so DH went there and met with the COO and voila, the student lounge was treated to trays of cookies and cakes. I wanted DH to drag home some of the students for a meal, but with 200+ of them, DH thought transporting them all, let alone feeding them all might be problematic.

Water only? I couldn't do it - even if I was inclined to do so, which I am not.
