Did it say/do something to offend you?

I like early. I like pumpkin. I like the thoughts of San Diego, warm temps, sandy beaches... I like coffee. I have 3 cats. Random PJTP thoughts.
-
I am heading to San Diego in a mere 2 weeks - I want warm! I do not intend to pack any gloves or wear my long underwear or tote my down jacket. So, the weather has 2 weeks to get every bit of cold out of its system, and put warm temperatures in place!

I THOUGHT I would miss a lot of things, but after one year, there are very few things I don't have in moderation. The one and only exception - on a hot summer night, I miss having a beer. I didn't drink many of them (maybe one beer a week in hot weather only), but there was/is nothing like a beer to quench thirst....... I do NOT miss soda or drinking out of a straw...I thought I would, but I don't. I haven't given up any food substances...I eat bread, I eat sandwiches, I eat potatoes, I eat everything...in moderation. I guess what I do miss is just the ability to eat everything in quantity.

Poll: How many fills did it take you to find your "sweet" spot
tapshoes replied to Sooverit!'s topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
For many bandsters, the 'sweet spot' changes as we progress. Like Jodi_620, it took multiple fills until I felt true restriction, then with each significant weight loss level, I would need another fill to keep the same tigtness. I am on my 5th sweet spot after 1 year of banding. -
SHM - Are you going to check with a Dr about your hip? And a speed of 7?!?!? WOW!!!! I just managed yesterday to get the tm up to 5 and I thought for sure I was going to die!!! I can't imagine 7...but of course, now I have even reason to try....I can see us all now in the future with our 'road-runner legs' flying as we run marathons... I went swimming this morning - 30 min flat out front crawl.

Yay on the inches lost! 'Tis a grand feeling, isn't it?? Yes indeed So sorry to hear about this Susan. Hope all goes well. Brandy - I hope the broken foot won't be affected by flying. I'd be checking the insurance coverage though, because you are probably convered until the month end. I hope so anyway. And ...the excitement builds; your wedding is in a mere few days! Well THAT sounds painful and sorta disgusting! Hey, pumpkin pie is one of the few pies I would have a slice of! Nice and molassas-y, smooth and rich. Snort!

Calling all February Bandsters!
tapshoes replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
WOW Carol, that's FABULOUS!!!! Congratulations! I hope you post this in the 'In one year I..." thread in this forum. I'm encouraging everyone to post on their one year bandiversary.... -
Nuts in moderation are NOT bad at all - good source of protein, and a good fat. However, whilst some people have a sweet tooth and crave chocolates or sugar, my particular addiction is nuts of any kind. I would sit with a big bag of any nuts from Costco and eat it...no stopping. So while others restrict their ice cream to once a week, or bread or whatever, for me, I have had to restrict the nuts. Knowing what your weakness is, is half the battle. Slow down, and chew chew chew!!! And say it again and again and again....

someone go shoot that rodent!

Diva - sorry to hear about this; a set back when you were doing so well! I am assuming that your Dr gave you the clearance to start doing the biking...right????? You do NOT watch to aggrevate your condition or do anything to put you even more off course. Follow the docs instructions to a 'T'. Better a small set back now than a bigger one later!

Yesterday...not a great day in that I didn't eat at regular intervals, but i don't think I went over in the calories. Weekends are just difficult for me..... Woke up and forgot to eat until about noon...had some cheese and a few tbsp of Peanut Butter. Licked the spatula from my baking (oops:blushing:) a few times, but then ate a proper bandster dinner - few ounces chicken, 1/4c carrot coins, few tablespoons of rice. Didn't feel hungry -- must have been the lickin's...

For the VV's who recall my trials with nuts, since my fill 2 weeks ago I have had MAYBE 2 handful of nuts in total....what a difference!! And I think that is mostly responsible for the weight loss - after 3 months of mostly 'holding my own' in the battle with the scale, it moved...finally! Although the only 'true' scale is the one at the clinic, I have been using the one at the Y as my weekly checkpoint, and today it was down...YAHOO! I love my band!
-
I hope to be back on track...I was at the Y this morning and did chest and biceps workout, and then 30 min on the tm. I managed to 'run' for 20 minutes non-stop.....whoo hoo! I hope to build that up and eventually be able to run a 5K, but one step (or rather stride) at a time! THis weekend I didn't get to the Y - but I did shovel and chip ice....
-
Thanks for your post Cynthia, I am sorry to hear that you were in ER, but you definitely are an inspiration with your attitude and positive changes! Your weight loss is great, but your new found recognition for balance in your life is ultimately what will help you succeed in this and everything else. Congratulations!!!:w00t::w00t: I hope to read some more postings from other VVs on their bandiversary....come out come out wherever you are!!!

Happy Monday! Whoo hoo - it is February, the sun is shining, the temperature is supposed to rise a little, and it looks like I am heading to California for a wee break at the end of the month! All in all, a good day.

What I should be watching is the inside of my eyeballs...I have to get up in about 4 hours....but no siree, tonight my eyes are wide open.:tongue2:
-
Oh Anna - that sounds great!!! And I know EXACTLY what you mean - I am looking outside through icicle-laden study windows at the snowbanks that hide the car! CONGRATULATIONS, Shiny! That is fabulous!!! And it was a very wise decision to use your old shoes too!:thumbup::thumbup: AS for me - I shovelled yesterday - not a lot, and therefore didn't get my heart rate up for too long, but every bit helps, and it really was all I was up to doing. Can't seem to shake this run-down feeling, oh well, it too will pass. Today I have company coming for supper so a wild cleaning marathon will begin shortly...

HI Elyssa Do you know why you are PB'ing? Is it eating too much, or too quickly or not chewing enough? Or is it really the foods - I would not want anyone to eliminate some healthy foods from their diet, but if it is one thing specifically then can you avoid eating it for a few weeks to see if that helps? That seems like a lot of PB'ing. Figuring that out might help reduce the incidence. You are right - exercise is as most of us have discovered an essential component of the process; is there any way to make some of your regular activities (and I am sure there are lots on the farm) more aerobic or longer in duration? Although there are bandsters who have found things they LOVE to do and do it 7 days a week etc, I am not one of them! I try though to make myself do something at least 4 times a week, and so far have missed only 1 or 2 weeks:blushing:. I'd love not to have to do anything (I believe I was a sloth in another life), I make myself do things and it has helped. Keep up the efforts, and check in with us....
-
Yeah!!! Congratulations!

Congratulations LJM!!!! :w00t::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::redface:

Shiny - good luck on your run! Rhapsody - a new pair of shoes sounds like a good idea to me too! My others are getting worn, and besides, I keep them at the locker at the Y, so then on days when I'm home, I don't have proper shoes to wear if I wanted to do any exercising. And PS your new pic is great! LilMiss - how is the knee? I've not exercised for 2 days now...between being icebound in the house, and not feeling great, I just haven't moved my rear! Today, I will try to find some energy and move...but so far it isn't looking promising!
