my cats having a hiss-off!

The laundry mountain is becoming a mere hill - load 3 on the go. Made a batch of apple muffins...their aroma finally got DH out of bed...such a slug. Sleeping in until 830 - ugh! Second pot of coffee is gone. Time to get my rear in gear and head out to: the bank; the grocery store; someplace to find another pair of sneakers; bulk food store for some essentials; and then home for lunch.

New girl, schmew girl...this middle-aged gal has YOU beat!!!

Last nights movies: A beautiful mind - 4 Drop Dead Gorgeous - ejected it after about 7 minutes (DSD has such terrible taste in movies; how could such a movie loving, movie aware, movie intelligent man such as DH have such a daughter??) Giant - 4

When I read 'keylogger' it quickly becomes 'key largo' which makes me think of Humphrey Bogart which reminds me of Lauren Bacall which makes me think of whistling that leads to graveyards which evokes images of blueberries which reminds me of food which makes me hungry.... I've such a twisted mind! Good morning all. Have the first load of laundry in, pot of coffee gone, and am thinking of my to-do list for today....

Well Daisy, technically second place does make you a winner....i suppose

AND... a big net would drop from the ceiling, the floor they are standing on be electrified and give them a jolt or two, and a record of the attempted transgression be sent to the police so that after 2 or 3 of those, they are fined HUGE amounts of money with an option to work it off being paid minimum wage doing the worst imaginable jobs....
-
I know, but I miss them...particularly as I don't 'facebook' (according to my youngster co-workers, it is an acceptable verb)
-
PJTP - I miss some of our 'regular' posters - BBK, LJM, et al.

And in my family, I am considered the 'bend over backwards bleeding hearts liberal'!!

Unbelieveable is right! At the very least, I would have made him attend the autopsy, help prep the body for the funeral, attend the funeral and see first hand some of the devestation, dig the grave by hand, apologize (not his lawyer) face to face to each member of the immediate family, and maybe have to have a tatoo on his dominant hand that reads "Anyone providing this scumbag with liquor will be fined 10,000$" or something. Then we would start talking about more longterm consequences....

Nurse Melly - Welcome to the movie thread, where all opinions are welcomed (and the tastes of others are questioned/mocked...by others though, never me!:tongue_smilie:) I'm hoping this weekend some good movies are among those randomly selected by DH and myself...watched another bad one last night: The Philadelphia Experiment...great premise, terrible movie. (I hate when that happens, and yet it does sooooo often). 1 on our 5 point scale.

CarolAnn Living with the lapband takes dedication and perseverence; it is not something to do until you are committed for the long term to make significant changes to your life. Given that you 'weren't really trying' during the pre-op phase, I think that you have made the right decision AT THIS TIME for YOU. It is better to not proceed until you are absolutely committed to a new lifestyle, and my stopping now you have probably saved yourself a lot of grief, and heartache, and surgery! You are to be commended for making this decision at this time. You can always investigate this (or any other option) later - it isn't a now or never situation. Good luck.
-
LilMiss, you have a lot of things (sparkling personality, perseverence, etc) but you do NOT have the trophy........
-
Babygirl - you are too generous! A beloved aunt was killed by a 16 year old drunk driver - she and my uncle were driving in the middle of the day, perfect conditions. My aunt died in the crash (despite her seat belt her injuries were too severe); my uncle was hospitalized but did recover...except for the devestation that his wife of over 50 years was taken by an irresponsible drunk kid. The driver? A few scrapes. His 'punishment'? Well, let's see - he didn't have a licence, so they couldn't take that. He was 'a good kid who made a bad decision' according to his parents; he was sorry, according to his lawyer. The judge ordered him to counselling for substance abuse, some community service, and a few months in a minimum detention centre. Had I (or my extended family) been meting out the punishment, it wouldn't have been that!!

What she said! What a fabulous achievement.

Happy Spring Everyone At the Y this morning I did my upper body workout adding 2 new exercises, and then 35 min on the tm at different speeds and inclines. The weekend is forecast to be nice (that means, above freezing and sunshine), so I will be outside doing some yard work ...probably shovelling down snow banks, maybe cleaning some windows....just fun stuff. And Shiny, yard work maynt get your heartrate up but it does burn calories and give your muscles some stretching...it's all good!

Spring has sprung The grass is riz Glou wonders where The trophy is....

I laughed at this; my mother was 4'10 (and of course is shrinking with age), and my father was over 6". On their wedding pictures, my mother IS standing on a stool - the only way the photographer could get them 'face to face'... At 5'5, I've dated guys shorter, same size, somewhat taller, and giraffean...I prefer the 'somewhat taller'. What she said. Whoo hoo - Friday, AND sunny, AND above freezing - spring has sprung!!!

Kids are mercenary - get them where it hurts! When I was in my 'too young to get a real job so I was the babysitter for the neighborhood' years, I was asked to look after two 'devil-spawn' boys...they were mouthy, bratty children who lied about everything, stole from parents, from visitors...it would be difficult to find something positive to say about them. Babysitting them was a real challenge (I was 14/15yo at the time, and they were 8/10). However it was with them that I perfected the 'mean what you say and hold firm' stance...one their parents never learned! One Sat night before agreeing to babysit, I told the parents I had had enough; it was time for new rules while I was in charge. I told them what I was going to do, and they agreed (they really wanted to get out that night I guess). So, when I went into the house that night, and in front of the parents, told them for every act of disobedience or rudeness, one possession of MY choosing was going to be taken and given to Goodwill...no second chances, no negotiation, no trades, no giving them back later etc. I outlined the core tenants of respectful behavor (if it isn't yours, don't touch; yelling is not allowed, etc). They didn't believe me...it only took half a dozen items to be taken before they changed. And they did NOT get the stuff back; they were NOT just put aside. I took them home with me, and donated them as I had said. They HATED me that night (and the language was enough to stand my hair on end - which of course meant another item taken), but oddly enough I never had a problem with them after.

OK LilMiss, you know the VVs are following your saga here, and I am delighted to see that you left the bad day of this week behind, and are back on the band-wagon (so to speak). Keep up the attitude and the exercise... -
Excellent Shiny! It was getting sorta lonesome on this thread...glad to see you posting!
