morning everyone - bright sunshine, temps above freezing, hot coffee, empty office, and a Thursday to boot...what a grand day!:sneaky:

Nothing wrong with it at all... Cats too!! Whoo Hoo!!! I know how hard you have worked for this, so YAY Beth!!!

Good morning VVs! Taking TerriDoodles' suggestion, I thought I'd start a single thread where we can discuss any/everything. In this way, we won't have multiple threads on different topics, but rather just one long 'stream of consciousness' thread in which we can all jump in and participate. So, to start things off..... My weekend was hectic - lots of activity as it was DH's birthday and between his daughters and their partners visiting, and baking and calls we were on the go alot. Went 10 pin bowling (haven't done that in decades) and played mingolf - what a hoot. Tonight my brother and his boys are coming over to dinner to Celebrate DHs event, and then calmness will again reign! It has meant 3 birthday cakes for DH - he has lucked out this year! Rhapsody - how was your shopping trip? Did you get yourself some nice clothes? Shiny - I may just try that icing recipe tonight; but definitely will keep the recipe. Post a pic of your cake please. RSG - We haven't heard much about your artwork recently; are you still creating? What about your plans to go back to school - are those going ahead? Long lost VVs - hope you are doing well; drop a line here and say 'Hi"...Coolcrystal; Ezma; Minx; MediumMike;.....

*tap takes a bow...and the trophy* run your curser over the line above.

So Susan, have you been fantasizing about what that first mushie meal will be??? What a FABULOUS NSV!!! YAY Ebony!!! For me, it is MY body - anything in/on it is MINE and I have the right and the responsibility to know. And BTW, as patients, you do have the right to know. Any doc telling you differently, or throwing up roadblocks is in fact in contravention of codes of ethics, laws, best practices, and common sense (a few notable exceptions exist of course)! What she said!

Victorious Valentines - Feb. 08 - MASTER THREAD!
tapshoes replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You WILL succeed, LilMiss...you will! Shiny: First things first - YES we love you! Re: the cravings, I know exactly what you mean! I'm glad you found a nice rental, and YES, your hubby will get that transfer. I had a bad night - between a migraine, DH being called in to do a night shift AFTER a full day shift, and the notice from the tenants downstairs (AKA the mortgage assistant:rolleyes2:) that they are moving out, I spent the night tossing and turning, not sleeping! Now of course I'm exhausted, and still battling the remnants of the migraine...ugh! Once the tenants move out, I will do a few things to the apartment (it desperately needs a new bedroom floor), and then hunt for a suitable tenant - always a challenge! It takes us a while to find someone we trust enough - and reference checking takes up soooo much time! But I had great tenants since we bought the house - 20 trouble-free months. -
Brideshead revisited - 2.5 I hate what they did to the story - characters are one-dimensional; the deep passions and complexity of the book are gone. However compared to other movies ranked 1 or 2 it was better as long as I didn't try to relate the movie to the book, but it is not worth keeping or seeing again either. The sound track is beautiful!

I do, all the time! In fact, made several this weekend! More's the pity! But if we could, imagine the money we could make......... Morning all...whoo hoo - last night was the first one since last October in which the temperature was NOT below freezing....how exciting is that?!?!? I'm at home fighting with the remnants of a migraine...the worst is over and no vomiting this time (thanks be). Im at that state where the drugs (bless 'em) have left me feeling like there is a cement brick in my skull and the back of my neck, and my eyes still hurt if I open them fully, or look at a light, but I can function with lights off and move my head slowly...

I just don't see what the number comparison would be...do they fear that if two people each have a 10cc band, they will argue over what the cc volume should be? I can't see it myself, but then again, I'm not competitive...and as stated, I'm not very diligent about carrying my card. As long as there is sufficient that I can eat, but not too much so that I can't swallow my spit, I'm good.
-
 Exactly!!!

*Tap waves as she leaves with the trophy*

I don't understand the experiences you are having regarding knowing your fill - my doc, and clinic give each patient a little card and hold the patient accountable to recording each fill and unfill - date and amount. Their reasoning, in the event you travel somewhere and need an unfill or some untoward event occurs you as the patient should be able to tell the doc not only that you have a band, and where the port is etc, but exactly how much liquid is in it so that they know! I am bad for remembering to take my card with me and they give me grief each time as they make me fill it out from the start - ALL the dates and the amounts in and out.
-
Beth - if ever you figure out a way to make your head issue the instruction to your mouth, let me in on the secret! My head is REALLY good at giving sage advice AFTER the event - 'You know you should slow down. You know you should chew more. You know you can't eat before 8am' etc....

Victorious Valentines - Feb. 08 - MASTER THREAD!
tapshoes replied to LilMissDiva Irene's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I've no particular loyalty to the 'Random musings' thread, so perhaps a moderator could 'smush' the postings into this one, or just kill the other one....as long as we keep posting! So, I hope everyone had a great weekend, and for those who enjoyed too many sweets, it's over now; it was an appropriate seasonal indulgence, and everyone has those. Now, back to our new normal eating. I have a fill scheduled for this Saturday, and I'm hoping that will help with the seemingly endless apetite I have now. I have a conference in 6 weeks and I want to be as good as I can be until then; there will be people I haven't seen in 2 years there, and I am hoping for some jaw-dropping (how vain of me is that?). The weather wasn't as great as I had hoped for the weekend, so I didn't get to play outside in the dirt, but I did get some house chores done (drapes aired etc), and watched a lot of movies, and relaxed. I did not do one spec of exercise....oh well, back to the usual routine of the Y today. If we 'see' any of our fellow VV's in other threads, encourage them to post here occasionally...and if you have been lurking, come on and post! I'm anxious to know how Gibson, Cool Crystal, Medium Mike, Ezma, Mom to 2 boys, and many others are doing.... RSG how was your weekend away? Shiny - sorry to read that your husband didn't get the job he was hoping for; onto the next one! Hope you find a good house to move into! Blessed Twice - how are you doing? Wantitband - great attitude LilMiss - keep on keeping on...I am sorry to hear of your struggles, but you have been a good reality check for many with your postings. This IS hard, it ISN'T magic, there WILL be challenges....and you have the attitude and 'stick-to-it-iveness' to succeed. -
Blindness - 1 If you are into allegory films with repetitive camera effects, unnecessary nudity (I was going to write pointless nudity, but thought better of it, Plain.), and bad acting, this is your movie!
-
Morning all! I hope everyone had an enjoyable weekend (whether 2, 3, or 4 days duration). WAY too many postings to catch up...caught a few of the 'hilights' - heartfire - sorry to hear of your challenges; CC - glad to hear the babe is doing so well. Now, with mug of coffee in hand, and thermos of coffee standing by, it is time to tackle the work on my desk.

Between yesterday a.m. and thus far this evening: The 10 Commandments - 5 To Sir, with Love - 5 The Time Machine (2002) - 1 The 39 Steps (1935) - 3 Jamaica Inn (1939) - 2 The man who knew too much (1934) - 2

My fellow VVs As I expressed in the exercise thread, the VV's checking in with us on the forum seem to have become fewer and fewer in number. A few of you responded that you want us to keep the forum alive...and I'm all for that, but I would really like to see more topics of discussion, more threads, and more activity. So, think of a thread, post a joke, talk about things band related or not....just come back, come back... It's a sunny Friday, and I have a busy wekend - each of DH's daughters (and partner) is coming for a visit as his birthday is Monday. BUT as the two SD's are not talking with each other (and these are ADULTS?!?!), they are staggering visits. Silly. But as DH says, at least they are coming to visit...they have suggested going out to dinner (one Sat, one Sun)...but I suspect that will translate into going out but we pay. Oh well. So, thats my weekend....
-
These are all movies I haven't seen before - I went years (make that decades) without a TV or an interest in movies; DH has made it his mission to correct this 'deficiency'... I need to 'catch up'! Every available 2 hour time slot is dedicated to watching movies, and good ones (4's and 5's) are kept (we are up to 500+). But there are thousands more to go...thankfully with summer coming (eventually) we will spend all this time outside playing in the dirt rather than inside watching movies (although I get a lot of knitting/sewing/ironing/needlework done while watching them). just finished: Splinter 1 (stupid inane ridiculous terrible horrible) The Conversation 1.5 (oh dear heavens, why was this movie made?)

Yesterday: The Rainmaker - 2 Echelon Conspiracy - 2 Sabrina (the original) - 3
-
Mine STARTED that way...and just seem to be stretching... Hope it was a good time. I am jealous...I grow a few things but obviously only those things that like a cooler summer and a short growing season... WOW! I''m also impressed the results were not that different between scales and tank...I've always heard that there would be. Yes indeed. What she said! Morning everyone. Thinking of dragging DH out of bed to run errands sooner rather than later...I'm sure every place I will want to go will be packed today, but I just gotta get some things done...
-
Thanks bbg...it sounds like a good time - they didn't have this kind of thing when I was growing up!!!
-
ahhh....i think I understand. They have 20K prizes??? Is it one per marshmallow, or only certain 'marked' mm, I'd cover the ground in tarps or something because otherwise I can see the wee ones eating a mm that landed in dogcrap or something, is this s spring ritual? (I have been accused of over-thinking things; maybe this is one of those situations)
-
Yes indeed....from your lips to the weather god's ears!!!
-
Ummm...why do they drop marshmallows? Dont the gulls/pigeons/crows/ other carrion (or sky vermin) swoop in and eat them? Don't the mice/rats go wild at night eating them? What am I missing???
