    LOOSE is not LOSE.

I certainly will not judge your pet peeves - I share them. One note though: it is couldn't NOT could'nt as you typed it.

From consultation to surgery, time line?

My consult was Day 1; did pre-op diet for 1 week; surgery day 10.

Good luck Beth; we're rooting for you! I hope so Susan! I'm glad someone else feels that way about Patchouli...nauseating! One thing about working in healthcare - most environments are scent-free so rarely do I experience the war of the perfumes/body sprays anymore. It's 330 am - why am I up???? I know I am an early riser, but this is ridiculous!! Anyone else up? Any of the Aussies around...Fanny? She? Hey, I haven't seen any posts from She recently...

Anyone else NOT a fitness overachiever?!

 You are my twin, you must be!! I made a commitment when I got the band (almost 16 months ago) that I would NOT do stupid dieting etc with the band, I would eat 'real' food (none of this living on Protein shakes stuff), and would exercise a minimum of 4 times a week. This was a LIFE time and lifestyle commitment, not a whim of moment decision. I was NOT going to set myself up to fail by saying I would exercise 2 hours a day 7 days a week for example, because I KNEW the first time I didn't, I would just say 'eff it' and stop altogether. So, 4 days a week was something I said I could and would do. And I have. I joined the Y (which took a lot of courage as I thought there would be all these latex clad buff bodies sneering/scoffing my pathetic attempts), and started going before work. I'm still going - a minimum of 4 days a week. If I do more, great. But I do not get upset when it is 4 and only 4 days. My routine: 30 min 'body work' (working with free weights) and then min 30 minutes of aerobics per session. For the aerobics I alternate days between swimming, cycling, treadmill, elliptical, wave. The 'body work' - I spent the money and had ONE session with a trainer to give me the 'how to's' for about 20 different exercises (form is VERY important) and to give me a shedule of how many reps/set/exercise. Then I alternate: upper body one day, lower body another. I have gone back once for more exercises (was getting bored with the same ones), and to monitor that my form was still correct; at that time she updated the routine/frequency schedule. I can say exercise has undoubtably been an important factor in my success (albeit slow) to date. I can also say I have NOT started to love it; I have NOT wanted to add extra time etc. I don't feel good that I do it, I do it to feel good. I do it because I have to. So, I guess I will post here.... today - upper body work plus 35 minutes tm. at speeds of 3.8 to 4.2.

    Betrayal is a BITCH

WOW Tina, you sound as though you are recovering quickly...after seeing some other TT pictures I had almost made up my mind that one is NOT going to be done on my body (when I reach goal), but your pics and post renew that flicker of possibility.... You ARE an inspiration is SOOOO many ways!

Victorious Valentines - Feb. 08 - MASTER THREAD!

Shiny - you are probably in the packing mania stage...that can take a lot out of you, in addition to everything else you do in your day. Just take that time for YOURSELF...you, you, you! OK - I've been sending/posting messages to some of the long-lost VVs - Taismommy, Ezma, Gibson, JWBild, Rhapsody....someone else want to try to email/post a few others? Jamie/RSG - You haven't posted in a few days...not that I'm monitoring you or anything... :rolleyes2:
  9. Hi! Your fellow VVs are missing you...please post in our master thread and say Hi! Tell us how you are doing, what's happening in your life. Come back, come back........and keep swimming!

  10. Hi Gibson. Your fellow VVs are missing you...and your humor! Please, pop into the master VV thread, and say hi!

  11. Your fellow VVs miss you....and wonder how things are going for you. I hope you and your family (and your band) are doing well. Please, pop in to the master VV thread and say hi.

  12. Rhapsody,

Please come to the VV master thread and say Hi. We miss you. I miss you and your positive attitude. We can all use a friend or 2, and even though we are online friends, we are (to me) a great group of ladies...we need to support/encourage/entertain each other!

I much prefer the tm - if I walk around the neighborhood, I am too easily distracted by other people and their pets, and gardens, and the assorted wildlife that I feel compelled to try and befriend...so the tm keeps me focussed and on a steady fast pace.

B..b...b...it's COLD! Yes indeedy! Poor Susan; here's hoping for a quick surgery and fast uneventful recovery. Maybe she senses her control of her son is diminishing, and figures she can get you on 'her side'?? I hope your son is not hurt by her attitude! As many a female has discovered!

Victorious Valentines - Feb. 08 - MASTER THREAD!

MOrning all! What a mixed-up day and it isn't even 6am! Usually by now I am at the Y, and finishing my body work before I start my aerobics, and today I'm in my housecoat at home having a coffee! The cats are all confused....they too like routine and this is all wrong. DH had a shift change, so instead of him starting at 6, he had to start at 5 and that just completely threw out our schedule. Oh well, I'm gonna have a shower, another coffee, and then hoof it to work (that will be 35 min brisk walking), and then try to get to the Y this evening....I hate the thought of being lightly sweaty by the time I get to work, but I won't push too hard/sweat too much as I will walk at a moderate pace, and besides, I don't have a choice. It is supposed to be a nice day, lots of sunshine and it is Thursday (finally)...and my top up fill really does seem to be 'just right' (so far)...I'm eating, but a LOT less, and I'm not thinking of food all the time. Enjoy your day, VVs and if you see one of our 'long lost VV posters', ask them to pop in and update us all. Marathinner, Gibson, Want-it, Audone, Rhap, Ezma, CoolCrystal.....where are you?

Nothing like a positive attitude! Of course, the colder it is the more I want to slow down and sleep.....hibernation mode - which makes it REALLY challenging living where I do!!!!!

    why such secrecy?

For me it has nothing to do with supportive or not supportive family/friends. My question is why tell anyone about anything? I don't announce my hysterectomy, or my cancer, my hair color or my shoe size, or any of the MANY other things so why would I make mention of this? It's no one's business.

EXACTLY! And then when there is a followup to a newbie that says: In no time at all you will be addicted to it. or Just keep increasing the amount/time/number of reps etc every day".... ARGHHH!! Those comments do NOT resonate with me. I do not like to exercise. I do it because to continue my weight loss I must. I do the amount (time/reps/whatever) that realizes my weight loss but with absolutely NO pleasure in it. To do more would undoubtedly speed up the weight loss, but I KNOW I would not sustain it when (if) I ever reach goal. So I do the amount that I have committed to do for the rest of my life...no more, no less.

Victorious Valentines - Feb. 08 - MASTER THREAD!

Morning everyone. RSG/Jamie - Im envious that you have interest in/committment to doing exercise things at home. For me an elliptical would (I'm sure) just become a clothes rack or something for me to trip over. Theoretically I could save money by using equipment at home and not needing to go to the Y to work out, but the reality is, I wouldn't follow through on it. I need to know that every month money is coming out of my account so I'd better get my rear in gear and get my money's worth! Notice how my motivation is NOT an interest in exercise or health, but rather cold hard dollars and cents! So far, this recent 'top up' fill hasn't presented any challenges - yeah! And it certainly is keeping my food intake down! For supper last night, I had 1/6th of a 2 person quiche...and eating only the innards not the crust, filled me. If my weight doesn't drop this week, I'll ... I'll...I don't know what I will do, but I will do something!!!

    Let's Talk Movie Review

It was a double-feature night last night: the same movie, 2 versions. The Women - the original 1939 version with Joan Crawford, Joan Fontaine, etc......fabulous! 4 The remake of last year.......why oh why??? Meg Ryan? Debra Messing? Bette Midler????? 1.5

Morning all! Glad to know I wasn't the only one challenged to get logged on yesterday afternoon - I hate being excluded! The day is dreary, for some reason building maintenance has the a/c on (it's only 45 degrees outside!!).....nothing like blasting cold air down my neck while I huddle for warmth!
