Morning everyone - and a glorious morning it is! Sun shining, temps are seasonal, coffee is hot, a few staff are taking a day or two off so it is quiet... RE: animals. I'm usually the person asked to take the behaviorially-challenged animals. I took one cat with multiple physical anomalies (1 eye, no tail, 6 digits per claw, 4 pounds fully grown)- according to the vet the external matched the creature's internal organ anomalies, and mental deficiencies. The cat would attack anyone at anytime at any (or no) provocation, would spend hours running in circles until she fell over, attacked every dog/cat/person that ever came to the house, would hurl herself at windows for no apparent reason, etc. She was one mean little cat. The vet used to have to wear falconeers gloves to hold her for her annual exams, and never got blood from her! And yet, for a few minutes every day the cat could be sweet - I was never able to approach her, or pick her up....she had to come to me, and it was only for a few minutes and then she would hiss, spit, and run. I had her for 6 years - she died of natural causes. According to the vet, the kitten would in the real world have been eaten or abandoned by the mother, because it was so deformed but because humans intervened, the cat lived...

MOrning everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend! I got to spend some time yesterday in the garden - yahoo! I hired my nephew to help out - he is a big gentle giant, but I discovered that 'energy' is not his middle name! He needed me there every step of the way doing everything or else he would take a break, or move at a s-l-o-w pace. But with me there we made a lot of progress - in trimming trees, cutting and stacking lumber, removing sod, spreading soil, spreading grass seed, digging weeds....nothing like he imagined when I hired him to help me in the garden...I guess he thought of planting pretty flowers or something!! I did ok foodwise...I did however have a snack last night:mad2: How sad is it i couldn't go a week without one? Oh well, try again this week.... Rhap - I too miss some of our VVs- but I have tried emailing and tried sending pm's - but to no avail. So, I can only guess/pray they are doing ok, and living a healthy happy life. -
Everyone was out and about, I guess. I had the nephew working with me in the garden yesterday - nice, polite, gentle, big guy but LAZY as a cut cat - if I wasn't doing things with him, he slowed to a slug's pace. We managed to do a lot, but still lots remain to do. I invited him to work for me again next weekend - he looked at his dirty bandaged hands, and filthy clothes and said "maybe". Well, I have lived in places where not only would it rain all Saturday, but all week...for several weeks at a time...I have lived in the nicest places, yes?? Happy Monday all!

4?!?!? Absolutely a 5 for me, 5+ even. I loved it. No tissues though. I don't cry at movies...or at least, I haven't yet. Star Trek - 3.5 I'm a trekkie from the days of the original show, so just for being a star trek movie it gets points! I thought the 'Bones' character did the best, believable 'Bones'...if you closed your eyes, you could hear the 'real McCoy' in cadence and tone. I missed the Romulan big shouldered 'tweed' suits, though! P.S. I finally saw ET - and yes, I know it is an OLD movie, but I hadn't seen it before. I told you, I lived DECADES without seeing movies, so I have lots to catch up on. Anyway, i give it a 4.

But the question is: is she capable of cleaning and doing a good job? 'Cause if she is, I'd use her...about time you got something good outta the woman!:lol: Yahoo - LJM is back.... What she said!!! OK - So yesterday instead of playing in the dirt, I went to a garden center, spent money I don't have on things for the garden. And nope, not pretty flowers - I've got to get the land ready first. So, lots of earth, mulch, and a new lawnmower. Overnight there was frost, so it will be a while before I head outside...brrr!!! I have hired my nephew to be my 'assistant' for the day - 6'4" of huge muscles (and appetite). He is going to spend the day doing hard physical labor... Made a new recipe for a white choc cake yesterday...a failure! I swear some recipes are never tested before being included in cookbooks or online. DH suggested the birds, or other wildlife might enjoy it - such a colossal waste of good ingredients...BAH!! Going to make another cake now...and maybe some squares...date? peanut butter? apricot cream cheese? hmmmmm, guess I will wait to see what inspires me when I get to the kitchen.. Catch you all later

Hi Gang! Any updates from anyone??? I managed another night without an evening snack - YAHOO! Of course this has more to do with not eating supper until late...but still, it counts! Yesterday I came home from work and DH and I immediately went to the apartment to wash, clean, paint etc...we were doing this AT THE SAME TIME that the tenant was moving in! What complete and total chaos!! I hope everyone is doing well.... -
YAY Beth!!! Yahoo, Way to go!! Sorry to hear that Donna. Hope you break it soon - it is so demoralizing when despite best efforts the scale refuses to budge! GULP!!! :tt1: so sorry that you are dealing with this crap; just keep to your plan - take the high road, kill with kindness, and get the h*** out of there! I've never heard that expression - now of course it is added to my lexicon! And as a manager, I hate canoe staff! Generally, I hate canoe and ankle people regardless of position! PJTP - DH and I were painting and cleaning the apartment last night at the same time the tenant was moving in - total chaos, and like a sit-com only without the humor!!! Have a great Friday all; for the Canadians here, have a great 2-4 long weekend!

Hi All! Ezma - It is understandable that it will take a while for a 'new normal' routine to develop. The fact that you are aware of what you are doing, and planning for the future is great...small steps, Ezma, small steps!! Shiny - Great idea to dance/jog/move while watching TV - anything to keep moving. Although packing will involve a lot of bending, lifting, carrying etc...and that counts too! I have now gone 3 days without an after supper snack...yay me!! So why don't I feel it in my clothes??? :wink2: Just joking - it will take more than 3 days...maybe 4???? My exercise routine has been shot to pieces this past week - still cleaning etc the apartment in prep for the new tenant, so I've missed the Y. I am walking from work, and keeeping busy, but just not getting that dedicated non-stop hard cardio and strength training. But I will get back to it...I promise! -
I posted a few days earlier that the Y was goning to come after me as I hadn't been there in a while - I said it jokingly, but I kid you not - they PHONED me!!! They noticed that as a 16 month 4 or more times a week regular I hadn't been there in over a week, and that my other 'early morning ladies' were wondering if I was sick (previously when I have gone on vacation, they knew by general locker room chit-chat)....anyway, the Y called - unbelievable - nice, but weird!!! I have been VERY busy trying to get the apartment ready for the next tenant, and my evenings have been consumed with washing walls, painting, scrubbing floors and closets, etc. I do manage a 1.5 mi walk home from work every night though.

Hi Ebony The suit looks beautiful...I'm sure you will be too when wearing it! Andcongrats on the NSV! Glad to hear you are keeping your worklife together - and relegated to its proper spot -- it's just work; it isn't my life; etc.

Thanks Shiny...I really must try the fondant decoration for the next 'special' cake I do...let's see, what event is coming up?? What are the cakes you are making this week? I am day 2 without an evening snack....yay!!! Of course, I think I try to compensate for it by eating more at dinner, but thankfully the band doesn't let me be a complete pig! So, I've been slacking on the physical activity...I have been walking every day, but I am trying to get the apartment spiffed up for the next tenant, and there is so much to do I am spending hours at that every night. Last night I primed the bedroom; tonight I will put on the first coat of paint. The goal is to have it completed by this weekend, but I just don't know if I will make it. Where are th other VVs and how are you all doing? -
Spiders are our friends. They catch all manner of bugs and other things. Snakes are not my friend. Poor little lizard in the pics of today. Please tell me that the lizard is somehow given a venemous bite first or something so that it is not in pain or aware of its demise...
-
Fanny - snake pics first thing in the morning - ick! I hate snakes! Donna - glad to see you posting. SMS - ditto; whats been happening in your life? Mac - congratulations, and whatja win? Morning all. A sunny no frost day - yahoo!
-
YAY Tina, Back to work - that is so great! I've seen other pics immediately post-op and think there is no way I will have any PS done, but then to see your pics after only a few weeks, and to know you are back to work etc make me think I COULD do it....
-
Gotta say, if my doc had said no coffee I wouldn't be banded! I drink a lot of coffee every day, and have for over 30 years. The only comment of my doc about coffee was related to the 'additives'...the sugars, syrups, milks etc...all those extra calories. As I drink plain black coffee (nothing added), it is a zero calorie life requirement!!!
-
Lulu - you want sun AND warmth. It's sunny here, but the roof, and car had frost this morning....

Morning everyone! Shiny - The cakes are beautiful...and the golfers cake may get recreated for an event I have coming up! Question: when do you add the food coloring (?) to get the different colors of fondant? Sorry the house isn't just perfect, but I'm sure you will have it ship-shape in no time! LilMiss - Glad to see you back! Thank heavens - I was getting worried. Your no chip achievement is fabulous- YAY you!!! We'd love to see pics of your house too. I managed night 1 without snacking....it was tough, but I did it. I guess that really is where my extra calories were sneaking in...well, that and the portion size of the snack. Maybe one pudding wasn't toooooo bad, but 4?!?? I'm compulsive. So, snacking (for a while) is now out of the question - let's see if I can match Lil Miss' record!! -
It was weird dream time for me...not scary, just weird. In my dreams I am always me - Im never for example a man, or a spider - I am always me. Last night, I was black - which isn't me. That wasn't the point of the dream, it had no bearing on the dream subject, but was a weird aspect. Strange. Re: bathing suits and belly shots...you'll never see pictures of me either way. Altho' the belly shot as described by Beth has an appeal! Re: salads...I enjoy them; my doc supports that food choice. Re: wasabi dressing - sounds wonderful (Im another cooking by creation gal) Re: cooking. Made a ooey-gooey cake for guests this weekend, but the reviewers were not terribly fond of it. They much prefer the higher more cake like cakes, or cheesecakes...but my rule is I must always try new recipes, so I did. Won't do the ooey-gooey again though. Lulu - any reason why hubby can't be the tanned body serving you drinks with umbrellas whilst you relax - you both get what you want! Ciao.

Yes indeed!

Friday was a walking day - walked for 30 min at lunch, then just over an hour after work - and at a very brisk pace! My legs were somewhat wobbly Friday night. Then, the weekend came and exercise was...well, not in my to-do list! I did spend 3 hours washing the apartment kitchenette. The previous tenant was a nice person, quiet etc, but I don't think she ever washed anything more than a surface wipe in the time she rented the place (sinks and toilet excepted). I wonder how many calories that burned? So my evening exercises for the week are cleaning all walls, ceilings, doors, painting one room, and general prep work. And of course this is supposed to be a great weather week, and instead of being outside playing in the dirt, I will be inside.:frown:
