Poll! Eating and drinking
tapshoes replied to ReadySteadyGo's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
This one wasn't a challenge for me - thank heavens, as there is only so many challenges I can handle at one time!!! Waiting for an hour after is problematic, but with my meal is a non-issue. -
B - 1 banana L - 1/2 cup of meatloaf; ff yogurt S - 1/2 cup spaghetti squash with homemade pasta sauce ff yogurt Snack - ff yogurt

Any kind. It really is unfortunate because although healthy, they are just (for me) very addictive and I rarely stop at a reasonable sized portion...who can eat just 8 almonds?!?!? So, although my favourite, they really have become my downfall...Eve had her apple, with me, it's nuts. -
So now that we are at the halfway point or almost

Lets do a nosy poll. 1. What have you learned about yourself since you have been banded? That I am a food gulper...eeks! 2. What has surprised you most about being banded? The hard work it involves to succeed with the band - it ain't magical! 3. What foods do you miss that you can't/won't eat anymore? There is no food that I cannot eat. I choose to minimize carbs, but I have not eliminated anything. 4. Do you regret being banded? Nope, not at all. 5. Would you recommend the band to anyone? Absolutely - although as I haven't told anyone except DH it is unlikely anyone would ask my opinion! 6. If you had to do it all over again, would you change anything? Do it sooner - about 20 years sooner! 7. Would you do it all over again? Yes 8. Has your self esteem improved? yes, definately 9. Has being banded changed your personality? Other than my confidence, I don't think so. 10. What do you dislike about being banded? The rare PB -
Melanie - You look so good! The changes are obvious, and you look so happy and young. I too am feeling that this group has been a little slow (I know! I know! I was the one who disappeared for 12 weeks ). Gibson was always good for a post of interest. I am hoping it is just because it is summer - usually a hectic time of the year; maybe in September (a mere 12 days away) we will see activity increase. Can you believe it? Setember is 12 days away - where did summer go??

I don't want to say this out loud: I've broke through my plateau

Quit smoking (again) and broke my barrier

Congratulations RSG! -
You are singing my song! Eating around the band is just so tempting, so easy, and so wrong. I know it's wrong, and yet I fight that urge more than I care to admit. I know as long as I am fighting it, I will win the war, but ohhhh sometimes I'm ready to concede defeat! Exercise - I'm doing it because I have to not because I enjoy it. I am trying different things, mixing them up, increasing the duration but haven't yet hit a point where I WANT to exercise, where I look forward to it. I do it; I do it faithfully, I appreciate the results, but I make myself do it. So doing the exercising, making the conscious decisions on food are not yet second nature...but hell, I lived my life the other way for 50 years, so there is a lot of unlearning to do!!! I will do this; I will succeed. You will too! We ALL will.

You are very motivating...good luck in beating your record on the 5K.

I didn't suffer depression, but I was bored. I just didn't know what else to do that wasn't associated with food; it was challenging to identify other things to do to occupy myself. Suggestions similar to those of Jack's and Tired Old Men posted above were helpful.

In all the things I researched or considered about WL, marital discord wasn't one of them; this topic is somewhat disturbing for that reason. So far (admittedly this is early in my weightloss/health gain journey [6 months]) this issue has not arisen. DH is as supportive as I could possibly want him to be, and we haven't encountered any issues as a result of it. Like another poster, DH has been supportive through other major events including my hysterectomy at an early age and a cancer issue; to me my weight loss would be no different. Or at least until reading this thread, I naively thought so. I am fascinated by this discussion, and will continue to follow it.

Are you sure it wasn't the glowing eyes?

Nope, not too much ask at all!

Can you drink Tea or Coffee after banding?
tapshoes replied to mumof2's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It is always best to ask your doc...the 'rules' are variable. Milk is a source of Vitamins etc, but obviously the fat content should be considered. Is it one cup of coffee with a tablespoon of heavy cream, or 1/4 cup of cream plus all kinds of sprinkles, toppings etc? In this case it isn't the coffee that is the real issue, it is all of the additions! For my doc, there is no restriction on tea/coffee. As I drink my coffee black, no sugar, no froth/sprinkles/flavours etc, it's fine. -
Yesterday B: banana/strawberry smoothie L: small ff yogurt; tuna pasta salad (1/2 cup) D: bunless burger (1/2), 1/4 cob of corn S: (hanging head in shame)...nuts...more than a few:blushing:

Instead, I have decided to use my periodic bursts of anger to my advantage, and tell a few people some things!!!!:cursing: OK - I'll reconsider it, but it seems such a shame when there are just SO many people who are just so frickin' annoying, and the will to speak is just so strong. But I will be more mature and professional, and remain calm and not respond inappropriately....but I am just SOOOO tempted!

I am sure it was a difficult decision; my thoughts are with you.

Sadly, I have had black circles under my eyes since birth - really! I don't know how many times strangers have asked about my 'black eyes'. If there is a product, let me know!!
-
I will have to look for it; thanks Laurinda for the suggestion, and thanks Renee for the Walmart suggestion.
-
Yesterday B: 1/2 cup of strawberries and 1/2 cup ff yogourt L: can't remember D: homemade meatloaf (muffin cup size) few mouthfuls of caesar salad.
-
Congratulations! And wearing a belt - I totally understand how good that makes you feel!

OK people - stop hoarding!!! I had to go to 4 stores this weekend to find the dip - Walmart and my local grocery stores were all out of it! Of course, I then took the last 4 jars that the one store had... Use it so many ways and it tastes soooooo good!
