She smiles Your neighbour's right to enjoy music ends when it assaults your eardrums! Basic consideration for others...where has it gone?

Random post on a happy Sunday morning. Neighbourhood is quiet, hot coffee, sudoku puzzle awaits...

It is terrible to feel powerless; I am sure you do feel horrible. Probably one of the few times when I would wish I had a cellphone with a camera/video capability so that I could take pictures and present them to the authorities, or post on the web. Don't get me started on man's inhumanity to animals! I worked dog and cat animal rescue for years, and had to stop - I just couldn't face it anymore. And what someone will do to an animal, I believe they will do to a person (usually a child). That's why I think people guilty of animal abuse should not be allowed to be parents - a radical statement, I know, but evil is rarely directed to one target!

It certainly has been for me...and it continues and I'm in my 50's!!:wink2:

Support from husband but he's a lover of sweets
tapshoes replied to DesertRose's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I decided that I wasn't going to have a 2 kitchen house - by that I mean creating different things for DH and myself, or eating at different times to avoid seeing what he ate, or even asking him to 'sneak food' or eat elsewhere. This is a lifetime commitment (the band AND the relationship), and therefore whatever changes are made are not temporary fixes, but are actions that can be maintained over time. So, DH has always had a sweet tooth, that's not going to change. I still bake things, and he eats them just as he always has. I have introduced more 'treats' that we both can enjoy, but they are alternated with his date squares, pies, and whatevers. I choose not to eat those. Over time his sweet tooth may diminish or change as he tries more of the less fattening/more healthy treats, but I won't force those changes, and I don't want to encourage unhealthy behaviours by having him 'sneak' food or eat elsewhere. -
SLCMommy4 - Way to go! Such a difference already. Congratulations!

You look in the mirror? I haven't looked at myself in the mirror (other than my face) in a LONG time. Not even when trying on clothes - if they fit, then I wore them - no looking in the mirror for me. There is no full-length mirror in my house, there is not one on my dresser or other places. I am a master at mirror avoidance. And as for pictures - I have made Herculean efforts over my life to avoid cameras, and have been known to rip a camera from someones hands, tear the film out (which dates me, I know!), and I have thrown someone's camera overboard. Nowadays, of course, I can't control it - cameras are everywhere, but as long as I don't see the pics, it's ok.

I don't want to say this out loud: I've broke through my plateau

WOW Ezma, what a great approach your doc has! Frustrating, but he really puts the emphasis on where it should be - the person, not the band. I can certainly related to the loss of magic fear... -

Good post CC. I can rationalize this, I can understand it...I guess it is the difference between what I know, and what I feel. I want to see the dramatic loses that others have experienced. Most days I am philosphic about it, but on those others days, watch out!!! -
Luluc, if you feel old, I am feeling ancient (without the associated wisdom)! Elvis - Don't. I'm reading the song titles of the previous posters, and could weep when I read that the song is unknown, or when I realize just how old I am! I don't usually feel 50, inside I'm only 25, maybe 30.:wink2:

Yes indeed...yahoo!

That's not it, Plain. Rather we are in awe of your wisdom and believe that 'the truth has been spoken'. No further words are necessary.:wink2:

Slowmover54 - Yes indeed, it sounds like time for a fill. You are so tantalizingly close to your goal - it must be frustrating. I can only hope some day I too will be close...but it isn't today. -
Poll! Eating and drinking

No matter what weight I get to, I will never be normal!:smile2: -
How about a sliding goal? When you reach the laudable goal of 150 (oh will I ever see the day, Tapshoes sobs???), live with it for a while and then make a decision. Perhaps you will be absolutely dellighted and comfortable at 150, or you may say, nope, another 10 pounds, or 15, or whatever. I would suggest 150 as the goal, and then see. How's that for a non-answer?:smile2:

Unfortunately, it is only after they reader has misunderstood, that you realize that the extra comma may have been useful.

I thought I was the only one who did that! But it is so much cheaper than shaving cream and does the job. As for my razor, I use DH's mach 3

Abandoning your poor father after all he has done for you, given you life...Tapshoes says jealously after wishing she had thought of this when travelling with her elderly mother! :smile2:

I echo this sentiment! -
Tina, As bad as the experience has been, to have gained the confidence to make that statement, is a wonderful thing.

I'm conflicted...I love my band (option 1), BUT I'm not losing as quickly as I would like (3).:cool2: I went with 3, but can I be a 3 and a 1...wait, that would be a (4), nope. Not a four. Arithmetic is difficult!
