I love my birthday - and the older I get the more I love them! 40 was a blast, 50 was great....on to 60! Now, to DH, birthdays are...something to be ignored, they are for children - under 16. When we first got together this used to annoy/hurt/infuriate me; now I no longer worry about his lack of enthusiasm (translated, he never remembers, no cards/gift). I still party on! I party on his birthday too - he has usually forgotten about his own, and still comments on 'Why do we need to remember we are aging??"....party-pooper! Now, the year my mother forgot - that was a different story! And this year, my sister remembered about 4 months (yes, MONTHS) late...I got a great laugh out of it!

Thank heavens I haven't had fruit issues - I love fruit! Bananas are my current favourite for breakfast, but any berry, or melon are close seconds. Have been known to chow down on grapes recently - no peeling either.

Yesterday: B: 3 grilled breakfast sausages L: 1 cup soy nuts (started nibling, and just kept on going...) D: 2 oz BBQ salmon with 1/2 grilled green pepper S: ratsnfratsn...started in on the soy nuts again...probably another cup

What a fabulous idea! I too am trying (not always successfully) to break the head-hunger/munchie madness. I've tried to pick up doing my various crafts etc, but in the summer it just doesn't have any appeal. This idea of yours though may just be the thing I need...THANKS!

I've made a similar one using black Beans, and another time I substituted kidney beasns. As long as you blend the beans REALLY well, it is a very simple tasty (according to DH) recipe. The only change I would suggest is to blend all the beans first before adding the eggbeaters. It is just that it takes a lot of blending to ensure the skins of the beans are beaten, so I do the beans until almost done before I add the rest.

As mentioned when I began this thread, I haven't had any alcohol, and neither DH or I miss it (or so I thought). This weekend, DH says, maybe we should start making wine (used to do this about a decade ago). I'm not drinking, and he thinks we should (re)start this hobby. How strong will my resolve be in another 6 months?

Welcome back Gibson! We missed you. Asshat...can't say I've ever heard it, but I shall add it to my lexicon. I'm all for expanding my vocabulary!!

WOW Ezma, what a fabulous accomplishment! Your family certainly know how to treat you, and your day sounded lovely. Three cheers!
-
I have the same issue, Ezma. I KNOW better, but still the emotional enjoyment of tasting sometimes does win...that momentary mouth pleasure is soon lost to the stomach pain!!!

Are We Ready For A Woman VP?
tapshoes replied to Daisalana's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Absolutely! Or rather, that is how it should be. I believe that too many individuals vote for a candidate for the 'wrong' (IMO) reason - race, or gender, or party. And although with the minimal information I know of this woman, many of her beliefs are opposite to mine. -
Which embarrasses you more?
tapshoes replied to WASaBubbleButt's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Yes indeed, a smile and a thank-you are the only response I give to anyone brazen enough to comment on any aspect of me - hair, size, clothes...anything. If the individual follows-up with a how did you lose the weight, or how much, or any other question, a smile, and "Why would you ask such a personal question" shuts their mouth...or leaves it gaping like a fish. Either way, no response is given. -
A Saturday morning random post.

Fanny - You shouldn't make me laugh so hard first thing in the morning - coffee hurts when it comes out your nose!!

New type of Splenda it has Fiber in it :)
tapshoes replied to tp78's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Good to know! I use Splenda only in baking, but still DH won't suffer by having a protein boost, so onto my grocery list it goes. -
I've been able to eat all foods, in moderation of course! Each person is different and each doc's instructions are as well. For me, I wasn't going to live the rest of my life not being able to eat A or B or C...and so far, no problems (6 months banded)

We hereby annoint you (with slime) as a member of the Bandsters! The initiation rite isn't pleasant, but once you're in, it's great!
-
Green, I'm very pleased to hear that you are on the recovery path. My sincere best wishes for your continued and improving health.

What a fabulous NSV! And kudos to your physician for recognizing that a person who has 'been that, done that' is a great asset in a seminar...I'm sure everyone was pleased with your participation. Congratulations!
-
Jamie, you are looking great!

Having nothing to add to the above discussion, I'm posting to post/shout - it's Friday! Yahoo, and glory be!!!

:smile2::lol: Perhaps this should be posted in the Men's Room...it might prompt a thought or moment of reflection! NAH - wouldn't happen!

26 and facing a hysterectomy..please help
tapshoes replied to bandster_1007's topic in The Gals' Room
I too had a total hysterectomy at a young age...cancer. Ovaries were initially left (that became a later event). I never regreted the decision, and the 'silver lining' is that my sex life improved dramatically! Not only was there no pain (which I had been having because of the undiagnosed growths), and a significant number of UTIs, and other things, but also with no worries of pregnancy, sex became a lot less structured (searching for condoms, diaphragms, spermicides, remembering to take pills, etc). No heavy haemorrhaging suddenly causing me to faint, or having to spend a fortune cleaning upholstery (office chairs, friends couches, etc) when the gush would start without warning embarassing me and those around me. I took 6 weeks off of work - I would have gone back sooner if I had been able to 'ease back' (that is, go part-time). The recovery was uneventful but I was just SOOOO tired and would fall asleep alot. This is expected; it isn't a complication. The worst part - the absolute worst part post-op for me - the first time you stand up (the protocol of my doc is that it is done between 24-36 hours after surgery). OMG...if they offer a shot of morphine or something before hand USE IT!! After that, it was easier every time, and I was home 3 days post-op; climbing stairs 5 days post-op; walking around the block in a week...slowly, but doing it! No regrets - well, other than no one WANTS to lose body parts, but on balance, cancer versus keeping a uterus - NO CONTEST!! Good luck.
