I have been obese all of my life and have really never had it under control. I did have some success in my early 20s with losing over a hundred pounds on my own, but after a lot of life changes and everyday stresses, it came back.

I had a job change about a year and a half ago and started receiving benefits. I had contemplated WLS for years, but never had the means to really pursue it. I started doing research and found a doctor close to home in July of 2015. By November, I had the sleeve surgery.

I've struggled a lot. I thought this surgery would 'fix' me, but when you are told that this is a tool, that's what it truly is. I do not regret the surgery in the least. I'm finding out a lot about myself and working through the emotional baggage that comes along with all of this.

I have lost about 100 pounds since July 2015 and am off of my diabetic medicine and am down to one blood pressure pill per day. That alone was worth all of this.
