  1. Heya, I just had another fill yesterday. I'm now at a total of 5.5mls and I'm feeling rather tight. I was able to do the "water test" and drank the little cup of Water with no problems, but have to drink my coffee slowly and I have managed to eat some yoghurt and Soup yesterday but it took over an hour as i could only sip it. My mum has recently had her band taken out as she was filled up to much and started regularly vomiting which cause her band to become infected, so I really am worried that this could happen to me. Has anyone else felt tight after having a fill put in but it loosened up after a couple of days??? I'm hoping it's feeling a little tighter this time because he had to jab me twice (first time with a smaller needle) second time with a larger, longer needle because my port has sunk in further and was slightly flipped (which he said wasn't a problem, just means he will use the longer needle from now on). Any thoughts are welcome!!!! :tongue_smilie: Thanks

    Question about Damage from SOda?

Well I drink diet soft drink when I want to. I have maybe 2 or 3 a week if/when I'm out at a bbq or with friends. All three of my surgeons/fill doctors have no problem with it and have never said that I can't have it. I say, if you really want one and it doesn't cause any problems, then have one.

How long does it take to settle down?

Just thought I'd pop in an say that It didn't settle down. I ended up going back in yesterday morning and he took out .25 mls as I had lost 2kgs in 2 days. All good now, thankgod  Things are looking up!
  4. Heya!!! Just wanted to do a pop in to see how everyone is going with their weightloss (I'm hoping I'm keeping up with some of you as I have been struggling!!! haha), but this morning, I stood on my dodgy scales and I have FINALLY reached my first mini-goal of 20kgs!!! YAY!! I am actually starting to get excited now because I am starting to visibly notice a difference and I love it My Starting weight was 144kgs(316.8) My current weight is now 124kgs(272.8lb)!! (I have added some recent pics in my photo album). How are you all doing?? Have you lost as much weight as you had hoped?? Would love to hear from you all!

    Pheterine

Yep I took Duromine (what they called Phentermine here in Australia) for about 6 months, I took a tablet every second day. I lost about 30kgs but as soon as I stopped taking the tabs I gained it alll back. It makes you very thirsty and I found if I took one tab a day I would have problems sleeping which is why I only took it every second day. I think the problem with it is that yes, it does help you lost weight, but it really doesn't teach you anything re: portion sizes etc.
  6. I can eat better standing up aswell. In fact, my surgeon recommended standing u while eating. I can however eat sitting down aswell...so maybe you are a little too tight.
  7. Thankyou!!! I will definately try this!

    Salad, Bread and Meat...

Anyone else having trouble eating these foods? I have accepted that I can't eat bread so I don't even try anymore. I do still attempt to eat some meat although it still usually just ends up coming straight back up so I am sticking to minced meat which always go's down fine as long as I take my time...but I can still not eat salads. They just don't go down and I miss them..I used to love eating salads and I'm now starting to crave them because I can't eat them. I don't understand how I can be losing weight healthily if I am not able to eat meat and salad. Does it concern anyone else? I only have 5ml in a 10ml band. OH and also, when eating out, usually meals come with salad, has anyone asked for the salad to be replaced with vegetables and did they do it?
  9. Neither of my surgeons that I see have told me I can't have soda......
  10. was banded on May 7 so its been about 5 mnths now..haven't lost as much weight as I thought I would, but I know I really only have myself to blame for that. I could step up the exercise for starters but with a 4.5yr old + 2yr old to look after + studying, it's a struggle to do anything! lol...I think I've lost about 18kgs in that 5 months which is more than I would've lost without it so I am still very happy :) It is a blessing to actually be able to feel full after I have eaten, It used to take a lot of eating for me to feel that way but now it's about 1 cup and I'm done :)

Goodluck with your surgery! :) I'm sure you will be great! :)

  11. No worries! haha Thanks :) Well I would trade you anyday :) I was banded on May 7 so its been about 5 mnths now..haven't lost as much weight as I thought I would, but I know I really only have myself to blame for that. 12. Recently my mum has had her band removed via emergency surgery as she was filled up too much, constant vomiting, her band/stomach got infected etc.... Apart from the usual worries about the band slipping or getting filled too much, I'm now worried about this happening to me. The last time I was at my docs, he put in a whopping 1.5mls (when my previous amount was just .3ml), I couldn't swallow Water so I turned around and walked back in told him to take some out which he did reluctantly (and told me I wouldn't lose weight) which brought me to the even 5ml that I am currently at. In my heart I feel as though I may be at my sweet spot already. I cannot eat more than 1 cup of food at any given time. I have trouble eating salad, bread and meats. One bite of any of these has me leaning over a toilet bowl. That being said....I can eat upto a cup of minced meat, vegetables, cruskits (crackers) w/ tomato, cheese, tuna, fish and sometimes chicken...pretty much anything other than the 3 foods mentioned above. I also start hiccuping and burping which I think is also my full signal even if I still feel "hungry" (I think im starting to realise this may be the head hunger talking) so I'm getting the hang of it now and stopping when it starts... So basically I can handle the eating, I am happy with what I can eat, what I can't eat (generally although I do miss my salads and steak) but the weight isn't "falling" off like I always assumed it would once your at your sweet spot. It is still a struggle to lose even .5kg a week. Basically I want to know how others decided that they didn't need any more fill in. How much could you eat? What foods couldn't you eat? Did you just say to your doctor that you didn't think you needed any more, or did they decide for you? Do you think I could already be at my sweet spot? The last thing I want is for this band to have to be taken out...I still feel as though I am losing something and as long as I am losing even an inch every 2 months, that's still better than nothing. Anyone???
