    15 12 2009 - Scars, 7 months post op.

I haven't used anything on mine. I tend to heal well thankfully.
  2. Hi there, how you doin, so u'r ops in 8 days?? How exciting :)!! If there is one peice of advice I could give you right now, it would be to try to sit up straight and walk around as much as possibble once you come out of surgery. I had wicked gas pains in my shoulders/neck/chest for 5 days post op because I wasn't told to do what I just told you and I spent the whole time in hospital laying down flat - bad move! lol :) Umm as far as things to eat once you come out, I had chicken stock, jelly, very thin custard and chocolate mousse for the first week I think...Where are you from? By Skippy, I'm assuming u'r Aussie?? Goodluck with everything, you'll be fine!!

How long does the gas pain last?

I had terrible gas pain (shoulders, neck and back) for 4 days...by day 5 I was ok. I tried to do as much walking and sitting up straight as I could.

    Dropping clothing sizes??

I think it really depends on your overall body shape and therefore is different for everyone. I have lost 23 kgs (50.6lbs) and I'm still wearing the same clothes. However I think by Jan I will need to update my wardrobe as everything is a lot baggier! I am definately one of those people who lose more inches/centimeters compared to weight!

    Cost of my Fill Wow!!!

I think its mainly just the upfront charge that differs between surgeons, but the percentage of rebate we get back from medicare is roughly the same, either way, us Aussies definitely get a better deal re: cost

    Cost of my Fill Wow!!!

OMG, I could never afford that!! I consider myself extremely lucky, I had my surgery as a public patient and medicare covered the entire cost, I didn't pay a cent. I do have to pay $150 per fill visit but I get $113 of that back from medicare so I really only pay $37 per fill. I can't believe how much people are getting charged. If I didn't live here in Australia, I know for a fact I wouldn't have had it put in purely because of cost, and that's terrible, it makes me think of all the people over there who would love to have it done, but just cant afford not only the surgery but the maintenance.

Fat my entire life, will it work?

I have NEVER been a normal weight. I have been overweight since I was a toddler. I remember being 90kgs (180lbs) when I was in grade 6 (11yrs old). The band has been working for me. I have lost 20kgs in 6 months...to me, I barely notice it, and it does get hard to stay motivated, but then I remind myself that I have NEVER consistently lost weight before, so even 0.00001kg a week is a huge improvement!! Keep u'r chin up, I know its hard, but we will get there!! :frown:

    The port flipping over

When I went in for my last fill the doc told me my port had tilted a little but said it wasn't a concern....I'm trying to believe him!! lol
  17. Hiya!! I am going to join the gym on Saturday but I have a question and immediately thought of asking you! (hope you don't mind)...Do I need to tell the instructor that I have the lapband in and is there any exercises (weights etc) that I shouldn't/can't do because I have the band in??? Thanks in advance!!! :)
