  1. I HOPE people will think that about me oneday HAHAHA  I have told all my family and most of my friends. I pretty much tell people as I have to (if I need to vomit in front of them LOL)..i've given up on caring what people think about me...it won't matter when I'm at my goal weight, because all they will see is that I'm hot! LOL :cursing:

    I'm getting so frustrated!!

Erin18 I can understand where you are coming from. But I agree, just take one minute, one step, one day at a time. I struggle every morning to get to the gym, the moment I wake up, I'm dealing with a 5yr old (getting him ready and dressed for school), and a 2.5yr old, dropping my oldest off at school and by the time I'm done with that, the one thing I wanna do is just come back home and sit down...but I don't. Every morning once they are sorted, I go to the gym and workout for 1hr-1.5hrs..and for the first 10mins I just wanna give up, but after that 10mins, I get into it and feel sooo much better once I'm done. Exhausted, but proud that I made the effort. I struggle every single day with motivation to exercise and every single minute with motivation to eat the "right" foods..as it is, I've slipped up today and eaten 2 x 40g pk of crisps...but I'm not going to let it get me down. I'm gonna get up tomorrow and do the same thing again, try to eat well and move more. If I can do it,You can do it!

    Extreme nausea

I have also been having nausea (and tiredness). I recently went to my doc to get a bunch of bloodtests done inc thyroid, blood glucose,Iron,Vitamin b etc and all came back fine. I get spurts of nausea...mostly in the morning and I too find it hard to eat/drink anything in the morning until I have been up for a couple of hours. I asked my surgeon about the eating part and he said I should at least try to drink a "smoothie" or Optifast in the morning - even if it takes a while (which for me it does!). I have resigned myself to the thought that maybe its just because my body, is in full fat burning mode, im not eating nearly as much as my body is used to and I just need to take those times that I'm feeling nauseas to just sit down and take a break.. Sorry I couldn't help more, but just wanted to let you know that I'm having the same thing!

Banded Living- Is This the EZ Way Out?

I HATE the thought that people think this is the easy way out and I get extremely defensive when anyone says that to me. In fact I don't think it could be any harder for me. I struggle everyday with not being able to "turn to food" for comfort anymore, instead I have replaced it with exercise - but even then, every morning I force myself to get into the gym. I struggle with the emotion of not being able to eat what I used to eat when I go out with friends for dinner. I miss eating the foods that I can't tolerate now. Don't get me wrong, getting the band was the best thing I have ever done, and I LOVE it...but it wasn't an "easy way out" for me at all. It has forced me to change my ways (which of course is absolutely brilliant), but I too have ALWAYS been overweight since a child and I struggle with the changes that I have/are making to make this band work for me. The band can only take you so far, without exercise and eating right, it's not going to give you the full benefit - and that is consistently weighing on my mind aswell...I work out 5 days a week now because I don't want to become too flabby and I know as I lose weight, I'm going to have to keep increasing the exercise and motivation to keep it up, which again, is a daughting (but exciting) thought....I could go on and on but I won't bore you any longer haha So from me...ABSOLUTELY NOT the easy way out! :smile2:

    "Sweet Spot"?

Just wondering when you KNEW you were at your sweet spot?? I went for a fill/checkup today and was surprised that my surgeon didn't give me any fill! I'm currently at 5.7cc in a 10cc band and have lost 6.6kgs (14.5lbs) in 8 weeks which he was happy with (and I am extremely happy with)! I'm just a little concerned that I won't keep losing weight like this (I have been going to the gym 5 days a week and will continue to do so) because I didn't get any fill put in. When you are at your "sweet spot", does that mean that you continue to lose weight at a same pace without needing to get extra fill put in? (He did tell me that If I do keep losing weight I will still need more put in next time - I'm guessing this is what is called the "maintainence fill?")
  17. First of all 80lbs is fantastic!! I was banded in May 2009 and have lost about 67lbs, so your ahead of me! I also have been working out recently as I am the same - if I don't exercise, I don't lose any weight - banded or not! I have experienced the same pain port side sometimes (especially when I am working out hard), it really just feels like a "stitch" and does go away...I think it's expected to feel a little pain sometimes afterall the port/band is a foreign object inserted in our bodies and attached via stitching etc to our stomachs/muscle/esophagus. I did ask my surgeon about this and he said pretty much the same thing.

Why do sweets go down so easy?

I have this same problem!! lol Doesn't help me as my one true vice is CHOCOLATE!!...and it's oh so tempting to replace meals with the bad stuff that go's down so easily.... I have been replacing my choc cravings with a glass of cold milo after dinner though which although it's not that great for you, it does satisfy my choc desire! ...so I guess the trick is exactly what you said, go for it occasionally but just don't go making replacing meals w/ the easy bad food a habit.
