Do you always get a fill @ 4 weeks?
TeganRheana replied to TeganRheana's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thankyou for all of your responses. I DO feel full after I eat...but I am finding myself getting hungry now...so I'm thinking I might need a fill at my appointment. Is it normal to start getting hungry at 9days post op???? I hope so! -
in the first 4 weeks post op?? I'm 8dpo and have lost about 5kgs I think (not sure wat that is in pounds - how do I work that out?) I really just want to know how much to expect I will lose by the time I go to my follow up apt (averages, as I know everyone is different).... So what were your numbers??? I'm impatient - can you tell???

How much weight did you lose..
TeganRheana replied to TeganRheana's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't been walking yet....but I do spend all day running after the boys, so it's not as if I'm sitting on the couch all day either lol....I hope it is good loss - I really can't wait to start seeing some results....both of you 2 lost incredible amounts of weight!!! That's so fantastic -
Did anyone make it without pain pills?
TeganRheana replied to Dreamjeans's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just took paracetamol. I got "panadol rapid" which dissolves in water. -
I don't really see the point of them either. My surgeon told me it was so that you liver is nice and soft (they have to flip it over to get past and put the band in).....I tried to stick to the 2 week pre-op diet as best as I could...but I did weaken a few times. I just tried to make up for it by doing well the next day. Didn't help that I had my b'day 2 days before surgery - had chinese that night lol

defending my band to someone who doesn't get it- what are good things to say?
TeganRheana replied to Just Banded's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Absoultely! I would say this next time she said something to me.... I'm exactly the same. I'm scared to tell anyone because I don't want to know their opinions. It's my body and my life. Not theirs. Only my husband, mum and sister know. -
at 8 days post-op. Yesterday I actually found myself getting hungry!! ARRGHHHh... I'm still on "nutritional fluids" having 1/2 cup every 2.5hrs or so...is this what everyone else did at 8 dpo? I'm happy to stick with the fluids for the next 6 days (as per doc) but not sure about the amounts and how often I should be eating.....my friend was banded just over a month ago and told me that I should/could be eating upto 1 cup at a time??...not sure...any ideas/help??

I'm so worried that I have made my band slip/stretch because of my "vomiting actions" in the first 5 days of having it in....I didn't actually vomit - nothing came up but a bit of clear liquid (water?)...but I keep reading that if you vomit you can make u'r band slip... I have been sticking to my post-op diet...only on nutritional fluids and it only happened like once every day. Last night/yesterday was the first day/night that it didn't happen - so I'm excited about that and think I am over the hard part now....I have also been feeling good today - no nausea or anything *fingers crossed* yet. I still feel full all the time and still only having 1/2cup of liquid at a time... Soooo.....do you think that I need to worry about my band having slipped??? Part of me thinks I'm just being overly paranoid - the other part of me just wants to be sure!! Surely I would know if it HAD slipped right??(Pain etc?)
-
HAHAHA I hear ya! I hope it does Thanks heaps for the encouragement
-
As you should haha I will and yes, we go from clear fluids - nutiritional fluids -mushy food - soft food - solid food Solid food seems soooo far away!!! lol

post your before & during/after pictures
TeganRheana replied to chelsbels's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Wow all you girls looks AMAZING!!!! I was just banded on the 7th May 2009.....and I can't wait to start seeing some results!!! -
It was about 5 times - once a night (it seemed to be once I put the boys to bed and could "relax" for the day lol). Only once did it last about 1-2 mins...the other times were only for about 30-40 secs. I have been reasoning with myself saying that it shouldn't have slipped because nothing actually came up - I hadn't eaten any food that could come up...I think I'm just really anxious for this to work so every little thing is worrying me!! lol Thanks for you response! :crying: I hope your right .I think your right!

Scared about starting 'real' food
TeganRheana replied to finallyready@51's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I still have 8 days before I can start mushies and YES I am very very scared!!! I'm scared of drinking too much water at the moment hahaha....I really really don't want my band to slip or stretch - it's making me paranoid!! I know i will be extremely nervous trying the mushies and even more so solid foods - I guess I'll just chew chew chew....goodluck!! :crying: -
PB???? I see a lot of people referring to it on here, but I have no idea what it means...can someone fill me in plz??

How do you get your 2 litres???
TeganRheana posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am struggling a LOT trying to get more than 600mls of water/tea/juice etc down between meals...it's so hard!!! I can't tell if I'm too full, I don't want to overstretch my band by drinking more fluids than it can handle. I have been trying to have a sip here and there every 10 mins or so, but that in itself is a mission because I keep forgetting!! How are you all drinking the 2ltrs of water/liquid that we are supposed to be drinking in between the nutritional fluid meals (or any other food for that matter)?!! Before the op I could quite easily go through 2ltrs of water a day!! -

TeganRheana replied to TeganRheana's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
THANKYOU!!! this is what I have been worrying about. Before the band I could easily drink 2ltr a day no hassle...and I do get thirsty enough to drink plenty - but I have been worried about it stretching the band...thats the last thing I want to happen. So I guess I can stick with trying to have a FEW sips at a time of water....one just usually isn't enough lol....I do have a water bottle I keep with me so that's cool too... THANKS heaps for all of your responses!!! :crying: Much appreciated:) -
Thankyou! :crying: Sounds nasty lol...

is it our choice to fill or not
TeganRheana replied to rrmike's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm also worried about getting a fill...granted I'm only 6 days post op - but I feel so extremely tight, I'm scared to even start on mushies in 8 days!....I don't think I will get a fill unless I stop losing weight. -
Anyone banded May 7 2009?
TeganRheana replied to TeganRheana's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Afternoon people  Well today is day 6....I'm feeling a lot better today. The last few nights I have still had my "chunder sessions" where I go to vomit but nothing comes out - I have no idea why it happens at night - it's like I hold it in all day and as soon as I put the boys to bed, it happens lol... No pain in my shoulders or neck anymore...and still not very hungry - which is great! I have lost about 3kgs according to my dodgy scales...so that is awesome. I can't wait until I can actually SEE that I have lost weight....I'm starting to really really want some normal food now too though - who wouldn't after being on nut.fluids for 6 days right?! lol But I'm going to stick with it...I've come this far...just another 8 days to go until I can start on some mushies. YAY! Kaparamo - I'm jealous that you didn't get any pains...that is fantastic Good job doing all the walking around! Chincotigger - I am also doing the 1/2cup increments...I've started having canned tomato and canned pumpkin soup - they taste fantastic compared to the yoghurt n custard n broth I've been living on haha MLeone - by "soft diet" do you mean mostly mushy food?? Like mashed potato etc?? I'm so scared that I will stretch my band if I try to eat anything else other than the "fluids"... -
Heya
Yep, aussie here Everything has gone pretty smoothly so far. Went in for my op, had it, came out the next day. Had a couple of days of extreme pain in my shoulders and neck couldn't move around much although I know that I should've - it could've help fix it faster. I;ve also had a bit of trouble with nausea and vomiting (although nothing comes up, I just seem to go through the motions lol)...But today on day 6 I'm actually feeling ok. No nausea so far *fingers crossed*.Haven't felt hungry yet surprisingly considering I've been on fluids for 5 days!! lol...have you been banded or you looking to be banded ?? Where in Oz are u?
-
I'm finding it extremely hard to take deep breaths-especially when I first wake up, yawn or cough- and when I manage to do it, I end up dry reaching (sorry prob too much info). Had an awful time last night with it....its like I'm vomiting but nothing actually comes out....sometimes it will just happen to me at any given time - I went to the shops the other day and had to stand still for 5 mins to stop myself from vomiting...i felt very dizzy and nauseas.... Has anyone experienced this?? Is it normal?? I really hope it go's away soon - it's horrible!! Oh, and I'm still only only nutritional fluids (custard, yoghurt, sustagen, Optifast etc)...so it can't be the food can it??!! I really hope this is normal!
