I find myself worrying all the time about band slippage/stretching etc...even though I really think that I shouldn't be. I am now on "mushie" foods, and although I do cheat a little and eat regular foods - I make sure I have chewed and chewed until they become mushy before I swallow. I have also been sticking as closely to the 1/2cup of food per 1/2hr as I can. I haven't vomited ONCE or felt nauseas at all since I started mushy food. So I guess that's a good sign right??? I have also been able to get through 1ltr of Water a day now by sipping regularly (occasionally a couple of sips at a time)....but I guess I'm mostly just worried because I haven't lost any more weight since the first week or so....this is normal right?? Should I just stop worrying and as long as I feel fine, things should be fine right?? Thanks heaps for any reponses - you will help me a lot in putitng my mind at ease!

Off topic. . Can we talk about Kirstie Alley?
TeganRheana replied to Catherine55's topic in The Lounge
I agree that she looks like she weighs more than what she says she does....but I don't think there is really any visual way to know how much someone weighs. My entire life I have weighed over 30kgs MORE than what people thought I did (including my own doctor who didn't believe me when I said I weighed 140kgs at my heaviest) until I stood on the scales in front of him. It frustrates the hell out of me when people who weigh less than me look a lot bigger than me. The reason I was given - muscle mass. I have a lot of muscle compared to a lot of other overweight people. The muscle weighs a lot more than people who are just carrying fat/flab. I carry a lot of fat/flab..but it is more proportioned than that of someone who doesn't have any muscle....Soooo what I'm trying to say is maybe Kirstie just doesn't have ANY muscle and therefore even at her heaviest (according to her 230) she looked a lot bigger visually but it didn't necessarily mean that she weighed more... lol I started to confuse myself at the end so I hope you get what I mean!! -
2nd week post op and GAINING...??????
TeganRheana replied to Bempowered's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm in the same boat! It's been 2 weeks for me now and like you I lost 5kgs (11lbs) in the first week or so....but now that I am eating mushies my weight has been consistent for the past 4days ....I'm also a lot hungrier now. I guess we will just need a fill, when the time comes?! -

Ditto! I don't blame her for making up numbers (if she is)...it's no ones business how much she weighs! -
Does anyone feel this??
TeganRheana replied to the_bainbridges's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey! Sorry I have no advice as I didn't feel any abdo pain (just more uncomfortable) - saying that I did have a LOT of shoulder/neck pain which lasted a good 4 days...so I would expect your pains to start settling down around the 4day mark too...if not, I would ask the doc. Not surea about the "hunger pain" as I didn't even feel like food for a good week!! ps. I see u'r a fellow perthite...and close to my age! We should keep in touch:) -
Did I eat too much?
TeganRheana replied to VLOslund's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm day 14 today n I am HUNGRY!!! lol.... last night I had 1/2 pasta then about 1hr later 1/2cup tomato soup and then another 1/2 cup of mousse about another hour later....I think it should be ok cause I left a decent gap in between and I have been sticking to the correct amount...but I also worry that I'm eating too much now. I definately think I need fill... -
FANTASTIC!!! Thankyou for putting this up  Helps me a LOT when thinking of what I can eat :mad2:

I had 1/2 a polony sandwhich. it was DELICIOUS! I only had a 1/4 at a time...Surprisingly it went down fine and I haven't felt ill or had any problems though which is good - i guess. I did make sure that I chewed and chewed until it became liquidy before I swallowed though. I am only supposed to be starting mushy food on Thursday - not tomorrow but the next day...so now I'm feeling guilty. :purplebananna: What sort of foods did you all eat when on the "soft and mushie" foods?? or more so....what couldn't you eat?? (pretty much everything I can think of can "turn" mushy if it's chewed enough times before swallowing but I don't know if I should be thinking that way :Banane01: lol)

When did you start getting hungry???
TeganRheana posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've noticed the last couple of days I'm actually starting to get hungry....is it normal to be hungry at 9 dpo? -
there are other young people like me out in the world!!! lol I was just banded on 7 may 2009 after my whole lifetime being spent FAT. I can't wait to see some results!!! :crying:

One thing I have realised being on here is everyone is given different foods/timings etc when it comes to pre and post op. Personally I had to be on Optifast shakes (3 shakes a day ONLY) for 2 weeks prior to surgery. Then CLEAR fluids for 24hrs (jelly, broth, tea, cordial, vegetable stock etc) following surgery to full liquids (soup, yoghurt, custard, sustagen etc) for 2 weeks. I has been a hard slog and I'm definately looking forward to Thursday (day 14) so I can at least have some mushie food hahaha

Is it possible to have indigestion on just fluids?
TeganRheana posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Last night and tonight I have had indigestion. Well I at least I think that's what it is. I have been sticking to my Fluid diet. I just feel as though I have something caught in my throat or something - which I know is pretty much impossible... Anyone else had this?? Have any ideas of what it is and/or how to get rid of it faster. It's not painful or anything - just an uncomfortable feeling. Oh, I forgot to add that I have been burping a lot and have had hiccups a couple of times today - so would it just be wind? Am I drinking too much or too little or maybe too fast?? (I've been having a couple of sips at a time) -

TeganRheana replied to TeganRheana's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh good!!! lol I have just had a couple of potato gems for lunch....I chewed them up so much that they turn into a liquid before I swallowed them but I still feel guilty!! Sooo tasty though lol... -

Thankyou SOOO much for your responses guys I'm glad others are feeling it too. I feel great this morning  Heya! My goal is DOUBLE DIGITS lol....basically my doc said I would get down to 90kgs (180lbs) but I really really really just want to see 99kgs!!! Hell, I'd settle for 99.9999kgs!!! lol I would love to have lost at least 20kgs by xmas. How about you? -
It's now been 4 days since I was banded...I'm feeling ok. Surprisingly I really haven't been hungry at all since having the op - which is great!! I guess it's doing what it's supposed to do. My gas pains are mostly gone although I do get a little sharp pain every now and again in my shoulder and my stomach is still tender...but I'm ok to move around now... How is everyone else holding up?? :frown:

I can understand what 2FlyGuys is saying however I do agree with RestlessMonkeys that things are easily misunderstood over the internet.

Do you always get a fill @ 4 weeks?
TeganRheana posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just wondering if you always get offered a fill @ 4 weeks?? How do they know if you need one or do they just give you one?
