    gas post op lapband

I had extremely bad neck and shoulder pain for at least 4 days following surgery. By day 4-5 the pain started to disappear (thankgod) but yes, it is normal...(I think).

    6 month follow up today

OMG, you have lost 68.5lb in 6 months with less than 2.5cc in your band?!!! That just amazes me! I have 4cc in my 10cc band and feel like I am struggling (feel like I am able to still eat too much). You've done a fantastic job!! No wonder u'r docs were surprised! :rolleyes2:
  3. Your welcome! :) Thanks for the inspiration! :) I think I'm doing ok yeah...getting a bit harder now though as I'm starting to feel hungry more often but I'll get there, eventually, hopefully! :) Congrats again on u'r weight loss , keep it up! :)

  4. your food?? I find that I can only eat between 1- 1 1/2 cups of food at the most anyway but I have stopped measuring. I usually just start with a small bit of food and if I'm still hungry, I have a little bit more. My dietitian and specialist said to eat until I feel full (which is what I have been doing) but a lot of people on here seem to still be measuring their foods. If you are still measuring, how much are you eating at any one time?
  5. I have no problems with rice, pasta, cereal...but I cannot eat bread. Not once have I been able to eat it since being banded and not throw it immediately back up.
  6. I am one of those who cannot eat bread. I won't touch it anymore as it just comes right back up (within seconds of it going down) and it's not a nice feeling. I still get hungry (a lot), but I do feel "full" faster. I love that feeling! My main concern at the moment is the amount of Protein I'm having, I really think I need to eat more protein to help with the hunger. I keep worrying that I'm not losing enough weight fast enough, but everyone tells me I am, so I guess I am - just not on the scales.

No Hunger at all! Is that Normal??

I wasn't hungry after being banded for about a week......the hunger does come back though so enjoy it whilst you don't have it!! haha

    Did you tell?

I started off not telling anyone, I kept it a secret for about 2 weeks before I found it too hard because I'm out and about a lot. I try not to eat anything that I haven't eaten before in public. EVERYONE (friends,co-workers and family)I have told about my having the op are surprisingly supportive and think its fantastic I took such a huge step towards wanting to better myself. I am glad I don't have to hide it anymore. I of course don't tell anyone if I don't have to though.

    Banded and Confused...

I am glad you posted this....I have been finding the same thing. I am filled to 4mls. One meal I am able to eat a whole serve, the next meal I'm hardly able to eat anything without getting stuck....lol...sorry I don't have any advice, but will be interested in everyones responses

6-20-09 almost didn't recognize myself down 49 pounds

    You look amazing!
  11. I have a 4yr old and a 22 month old, I had my op done on Thursday 7 May, I had my mum and hubby with me over the weekend but was back to "work" myself on Monday....I was fine :blushing: I am soooo glad that I did have those few days with help though as I had a lot of shoulder/neck pain and could barely move. Thankgod I was pretty much back to 100% by day 4 (Monday).

    Liquids stretch pouch????

I have asked the same thing and was told as TopTier said...the liquids just pass straight through the band.

    Bread getting stuck

Yep! I cannot eat bread, pita, wraps etc....they just do NOT go down well with me. Instead of bread in the morning (cause I'm craving toast atm which I can't eat) I have been having cruskits ( I don't know if you can get them there, but you may be able to find something similar Great Aussie Food - Buy Australia food products online, Tim Tams, Burger Rings, Twisties ) which I find go down very easily. Crackers also go down easily. I have finally reserved myself to the fact that I have to let go of wanting it...it's not worth the pain it causes!

    Losing without exercise????

I am also one of those people who had to excercise to lose any weight. I lost 30kg about 2 years ago by going to the gym 2hrs a day, 7 days a week....but as soon as I stopped, the weight just came straight back on. I was banded on May 7 and have lost about 12kgs (26.4lbs) already...without much exercise at all ( I don't go to the gym or anything). I do plan however to start exercising as the weight has started to stagnate the last couple of weeks...exercise always helps, but yes, you do lose weight without exercising when banded.

    Do I Need A Fill???

This sounds exactly like me. I won't be getting another fill until September, so I'm hoping that I will still lose some weight before then - I would think so seeing as though I'm eating not nearly as much as pre-op! I have also had the tightness in the mornings, the cup of tea sounds like a good idea - I'll be trying that! Oh, and because I can't eat breads (they just come straight back up) I have been having cruskits- I don't know if you can get them there, but you should be able to find something like it( Great Aussie Food - Buy Australia food products online, Tim Tams, Burger Rings, Twisties ) instead which go down very easily in the morning!

    Is something wrong?

I have only had 1 fill but it was 4cc's. I am able to eat between 1-2 cups of food at a time..it sounds to me like you would probably need a fill?? Have you had any fills yet??
  18. haha this post just made my day!! I felt the exact same way!! It will pass, and once you see those numbers on the scale go down - you will be happy to keep going! My body felt like it was trying to reject what I was doing to it...it just wasn't making me feel good at all ...but it did get better from about day 4...and now, sometimes I even wonder if I really do have something in me - the only way I know I had the surgery is from the scars and the restriction I get when trying to eat certain foods...hang in there, look forward to your mushies!
  19. I have a 4.5yr old and an almost 2 yr old ....I only had my hubby home for a few days aswell but I managed just fine  I think you'll be ok!
  20. Wow, you look amazing!! Great job!
