My VSG Story, had surgery 6/22/16
APanda911 replied to APanda911's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Update: I am 15 days post op, and I've lost 15 lbs! Struggling to get all of my Protein requirements in, but otherwise doing well. Energy is good, incisions are almost completely healed (one is pretty much invisible at this point!) and my digestive system is functioning pretty much normally (no more excess gas/diarrhea etc) Will update at 30 days post op with a progress picture! When I saw the miso broth I was so excited, I knew it would be perfect for the sleeve - so good! And lol I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who has a grateful husband eating all the extra food Sent from my SM-G920V using the BariatricPal App -

Ok so I went out to dinner, and it went pretty well! We sat at the bar (no drinks for me boo) and ordered a crab cake app, it was heavenly - super soft, I was able to eat a few bites and my husband chowed down the rest (I think he's loving that I've had this surgery: more food for him lol!) When we sat down at our table I ordered grouper cheeks in miso broth with bok choy and soba noodles. I was actually pretty full from the crab cake but felt kind of dumb for not ordering anything, so I figured it will be a great lunch tomorrow lol. Picked at it a little bit, it went down fine especially with the broth making it extra moist (didn't try the bok choy, seemed like it might be too fibrous) - anyways the waiter boxed up 99% of my meal and when we got the bill, they had taken my meal off!! The manager goes, "the waiter could tell you didn't like it" hahahaha! I argued and told them it was just fine but they insisted on taking it off the bill! My husband of course was like "THIS IS GREAT!!!!!!!" I am still laughing about it. So, now we have another extra bonus, sleever buddies! You never know when you might get a free meal at a restaurant lol. I weighed tonight and I am at 271 lbs. Total weight lost in 15 days post op: 15 lbs! :-) Sent from my SM-G920V using the BariatricPal App -

Going out on date night with husband tomorrow and I'm extremely nervous to eat at a restaurant! Booked a seafood place which seems to be the most sleeve friendly option...just nervous about the whole experience, I guess! Sent from my SM-G920V using the BariatricPal App -
Late June Sleeve Buddies?

My taste buds are back to normal, it took like 10-12 days. I am still not really hungry but when I do eat things they taste like they always did. Today I had a turkey and cheese roll up for lunch, (1 slice of organic turkey breast rolled up with 1 slice alpine lace low fat Swiss) and it tasted good so I had the same thing for dinner! I think we're all just sick of protein shakes...I have found the premier protein to be the best tasting out there, in my opinion! Sent from my SM-G920V using the BariatricPal App -

Late June Sleeve Buddies?

The pizza was not as amazing as you might think! I promise lol. Ate a piece the size of a pinky nail and i was over it. I consider myself lucky that my surgeon's recommendations are less strict than others, but honestly I'm mostly eating Protein shakes and nibbling on a cheestick. Nothing too exciting. I will say it is easy to see what is tolerable and what isn't. All I have to do is take a teeny bite and if it feels like a rock going down, I immediately stop. If I don't feel anything I know I'm good to go. Haven't had any nausea/vomiting/stomach pain etc. and I've tried a bunch of random soft foods. Sent from my SM-G920V using the BariatricPal App -

Glad you found us! This is the nicest group of people with the best advice and helpful experiences. We are all learning from each other here, so you never know who you are going to help Welcome! Keep sharing. I'm not allowed to add those things to my diet yet. Have my appt with the NUT and the surgeon this coming week. Fingers crossed. I'm having bouts of crying and am happy although just a little moody and my stomach hurts form over doing it the other day. I still don't want anything to eat or drink but my brain wants filet mignon and chili dogs I have to conquer the brain... Omg I was just writing on here about "head hunger"...mine is INTENSE!!!! We ordered pizza (my fav food) for our fireworks party last night and I was DROOLING about it for hours. I had a tiny bite, chewed well etc...and I was like ehhh. Lol after all of that!! So weird. Hello! Had vsg on 6/22 - it's been a great experience so far, I'm glad to have been invited over to this board with other June sleevers! I am not posting my personal info on here because I work in the public eye in my hometown of Cleveland, and am trying to keep things under wraps. The only people who know I had surgery are my husband and my mother! I love to hear and read everybody's experiences - I've definitely taken all of the "before" pics and can't wait for the "after" ones. :-) I'm currently down 13 lbs. from surgery and tolerating soft foods well - I'm on the "Phase 3" diet. It seems like my surgeon allowed me to move quicker through the liquid phase of the diets than what is reflected in other people's experiences on here, I wonder why that is? Has anybody else been allowed to incorporate food into their diet yet (i.e. flaky fish, cheeses, mashed potatoes etc?) MY STATS: HW: 295 SW: 286 CW: 273 -
