Will it get better
AlexandraStJames replied to divaglam19's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This happened to me as well. I am 5 weeks post op and I went to a Mets game and the only thing I could eat was the minute made icy. I literally had a few bites and had diarrhea and I would also get the sweats and feel so deathly ill. I can't tell you what it is but I can tell you that it will pass! Don't feel regret, you'll get to a point where your body can tolerate more and everyone is different. I saw people that were eating solid foods two weeks post op and i was still puking Jello at almost 3 weeks post op. It gets gets better give your body time to deal and adjust to all the changes its going through. Stay hydrated and try to focus on Protein so you can heal up! Hello everyone. I am about 5 weeks out from surgery and in the last two weeks I've noticed that food is becoming something I look at in disgust. It's weird though, when I'm starting to feel hungry I'll think about what I want to eat and I feel excited about it, but when it comes down to eating it I have no desire. Yesterday I was at the hot bar in whole foods and saw something that looked good and bought it, the second I sat down to actually eat it I felt grossed out about the food and had to force some of it down. I've noticed I'm forcing pretty much everything I eat down. This is really not good because I'm not getting in enough calories for my body to function properly and I'm dealing with a little bit of low energy at times. Protein intake has also been an issue as I never want to eat. I didn't feel like this during the first few weeks after surgery so I'm not really sure what's happening, nor do I know how to overcome it. It's making me feel regret about getting the surgery because I used to once love food, and although I don't want to be obsessed with food like I used to be I also don't want to hate it. It's bee making me feel a little sad and I'm hoping this is just a passing phase. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Weight Loss

I am doing really well with protein. Getting anywhere from 60 to 80, I know those numbers need to increase but I'm only on day 3 of puréeds. Water has been kind of an issue for me, I definitely need to get in more water I'm averaging about 40 ounces. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I know everyone's body is different but is there like an average amount of weight that a person should expect to lose by a certain time? I am only two weeks out, I've already lost 15 pounds mostly due to the two weeks of Clear liquids I did after surgery. I am now onto the puréed phase but I'm concerned I may be getting too many calories. I am tracking what I'm eating and I'm not really going over 800-900 calories. I'm wondering if I can get that many calories in the mushy phase what's going to happen when I have no diet restrictions? Also I stick to eating 1/4 of a cup of food or 1/2 of a cup of whatever I eat. Doctor advised not to go over 4 ounces per meal. I have followed this religiously but I never seem FULL, but I just stop eating after I've eaten 4 ounces. Is what I'm doing OK? Should I be getting less calories? Should I be incorporating more exercise? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Stuggling with clear liquid phase
AlexandraStJames replied to AlexandraStJames's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I appreciate all the comments and feedback. Unfortunately, the guidelines from my doctor were strict CLEAR LIQUIDS ONLY for 14 days. I just called the nurse at my doctors office and explained my low energy levels and she recommended swapping out some of my diluted drinks like Gatorade, with full sugar drinks. She made it very clear that I cannot move on to full liquids and there was no mention of Protein. The nutritionist that spoke to me before I left the hospital also told me not to focus on protein but to focus on getting my liquids. I need to look into some of these clear Liquid Protein supplements as I'm not sure how I can return back to my daily activities on just Water broth and watered down Gatorade. Thanks all! Honey in Tea? Clear Liquid Phase?
AlexandraStJames replied to AlexandraStJames's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm quite certain that this forum is for questions and a community of people who are looking to uplift and support people, rather than act like they are some sort of physician and make demands of what people should do. What I meant by sugary drinks was things like Gatorade, Snapple, Iced Teas that MY DOCTOR instructed I could have as long as they were diluted with Water. Every doctor has different instructions and rules, so your instructions may be much different from the ones I received. The point of my posted question was to receive friendly ADVICE from other about their experience with honey in tea on the clear liquid phase, not to be reprimanded. If you were going to waste your time leaving such a nasty comment and end with " if tea burns then stop drinking it" you shouldn't have even commented at all. Honey in Tea? Clear Liquid Phase?
AlexandraStJames posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sipping on some herbal tea with honey right now. Today is the first time I've put honey in my tea post op (one week post op, still on clear liquids), I assumed it was OK to do so, considering sugary drink are allowed. However, I find that as the liquid goes down I feel a slight burning sensation. It doesn't hurt but it's different. Just wanted to reach out and ask this community. My packet says nothing about no honey but maybe you all know something I don't. Feedback appreciated Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Stuggling with clear liquid phase
AlexandraStJames posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello All, My name is Alexandra. I was sleeved on June 28th, making today one week post op. I've been doing OK. Still have some gas pains and soreness in the belly. I occasionally find myself "getting hungry" while on this clear liquid phase. It's not terrible, I think it's a combination of my mental hunger and gas. Anyway, I've been struggling the last few days with my energy levels. I feel like I have NO energy and sometimes find myself getting cold sweats and light headed spells; I am unable to walk or stand for long periods of time also. I decided it's probably because I am getting no nutritional value from what I am putting into my body at this point. Yesterday I had a few spoonfuls of zico chocolate coconut Water (not a clear liquid) in hopes of it providing some extra nutrition and possibly an energy boost, but got scared and stopped. Is there anything I can have during this clear liquid phase to boost my energy? I do not want to veer off on my own path and start full liquids against my doctors recommendations, but I am not functional and I need to return back to my day to day activities. Any advice would be helpful! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
