I think everyone has a right to say what thier beliefs are, so here's mine. My son is gay, he has a good job, pays taxes, gives back to the community with volunteer work and was in the service. He doesn't have the same rights as a person serving time in jail for murder!!! I think until he has the same rights as everyone else he should stop paying taxes! The goverment should work for him too! Also I would never have him married in any church, they think he's an abomination, as a matter of fact my whole family has turned away from the church and I for one will not be associated with them. I hope if there is a heaven, God judges people on earth the way they judge others.

doctor holding records hostage
falloutgal replied to joeyramonesgirl's topic in Insurance & Financing
Same thing happened to me!! I called the patient advocate and that helped. If your doctor dosen't have a patient avocate call the doctor's office and tell them you are going to call the AMA and your town's district attorney's office. That should help, let me know! -
I use myfitnesspal.com and I love it! You can track your calories and your exercise. Like lap band talk there are sites and blogs and people helping one another.

First thing I have is a cup of green tea! Then I mix 1/2 cup of egg whites (60 calories) and two tablespoons of Tostitos creamy spinach dip (20 calories) together and scramble it in a non-stick pan. If I am still hungry I can add a 1/2 slice wheat bread or some fruit. Good for the solid or mushy stage.

How many banders can eat bread without problems? How much and when?
falloutgal replied to coloradobanding's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I can eat crackers and toasted bread. I cannot eat pasta, rice, noodles or untoasted bread. Sucks for me because I am truly an Italian pasta-bread kinda girl. I still try every so often but it always gets stuck! -
Hysterctomy after lapband
falloutgal replied to hefer7629's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have had three (3) surgeries since my lap band procedure and no complications with the band. Six months after the band I had my gallbladder out, four months after that I had a total hysterectomy (they opened me up through my stomach-27 staples!) and in September of 2008 I had foot surgery!! Just let your lap band surgeon know of the procedure and put him in touch with the surgeon doing your hysterectomy and they will advise you what to do. Good luck, I will say a pray for you. Let the site (and me) know how you are after your procedure. -
I've recently started to go to a tanning salon. I really enjoy the 15-20 minutes of relaxing there while getting some color. Does anyone else go tanning and does your port site hurt? The very first time I went (I always use sunscreen!) my port hurt and a small bump, like a blister, formed. Later it started bleeding. It doesn't blister and bleed any more but it still hurts. Has anyone else experience this? Let me know!

Thank you CoachCher, I am coming up on having my band three years now, and you hit the nail right on the head!! I thought I was the only one with these feelings. Its nice to be noticed but I think I can live without the comments of so-called friends!! Also my eating buddies have seemed to disappear!! I was really very depressed and I think my surgeon thought I was nuts!!! THANKS AGAIN!!

I do have heartburn, and sometimes I wake up with food in my mouth but I also, just about every morning wake up with a lump in my throat! It doesn't hurt, I can swallow and drink liquids. Eating in the morning, solids or mushies, takes a little while but I can still do it. Does anyone else have a lump in the morning?

I am embarrased to admit I love fast food, always did!!! I still think about it every so often, but one day I did stop and buy it and I got sick on it so it cured me for a little while. Now if I stop I get a kids meal, and I can't finish it, or I get one thing off the menu eat a few bites and I am satified!! Now with the many food choices, like grilled items, salads, fruits, water and low fat dressings its easier to make a better choice. Also I exercise 5 days a week and I hate exercise, so when I think of cheating I think of how long I will need to work out to counter act the calories, usually its a deterrent!!!

How much are you really eating????
falloutgal replied to Seattlelight's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I count calories. I can eat between 900-1200 calories a day. I exercise at least 4 days a week at the gym and 1-2 days on my own (walking or horseback riding). I think its a good fit for me. I never feel deprived although I still eat with my eyes (I tend to fill up my plate and I don't know why, but I always think I can still eat all of it!) Of course I eat only a few bits and I am satisfied!! -
I have failed my band - SUPPORT GROUP
falloutgal replied to Tabithan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was banded in April of 2006. I started at 326 lbs. and I am at 243 lbs. I have been this weight for just about a year now. I have re-started a million times but just cannot seem to get it going again. My doctor is really no help and I have done the support groups and the diets (weight watchers and Akins). I just feel like I did before the band so I am ready to give up. Sorry if I brought anyone down, I really wish all of you sucess!!! Happy Holidays! -
Desk Jobs..How long will you need off work
falloutgal replied to honey38635's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It won't take that long. I am an office manager in a small but busy company and I had my lap band done on a Tuesday and was back to work on Friday. So they say 3-5 days if you have a job thats not that physically demanding. But ask your doctor!!! -
Just can't help myself, so forgive me all for gushing, but my two year, yes I said two year plateau is over!!!!! After being stuck at 250 lbs for almost two years I have lost 12 lbs. Went to my gym and they weighed me , and I am 12 lbs lighter. I have had 2 surgeries after the lap band and I am 50, so my doctors kept telling me not to give up, but I was getting very discouraged. My trainer worked very hard with me and I watched what I ate and drank 64 ozs of water a day and it came off. My next goal is to lose 40 lbs so for the first time in 21 years I will be under 200 lbs!!! Wish me luck!

You are not the first bander it has happened too., and you won't be the last. Go to your doctor get your fills and stick to your program. Like any weight loss program you are going to have successes and failures. You have made the first step by getting the band. Don't be embarrassed, I have let enough things slip away from me because I was embarrased about my weight, but no more. Every time I eat too much and gain some weight I come to this sight and know I am not alone. Talk to us, we all know what you are going through.

What do you eat for breakfast? I need ideas!
falloutgal replied to blahblahblah's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I eat a variety a foods for breakfast. Plain oatmeal with natural applesauce-egg beaters come in flavors now (southwestern, chive & cheese and garden vegetable-really good)-almond or peanut butter on wasa crisps-sometimes I eat leftovers from dinner. Price club has a really good turkey breast (fully cooked) and Trader Joe's has really good pre-made breaded chicken cutlets (2 are only 150 calories). I usually will take a slice of turkey or the cutlets with a piece of fruit. On the run I like the zone bars. Sorry this is so long, but I like to mix it up if I get bored with the food choices I will get in trouble and eat too much, so I like variety! Hope it helps. Also a lot of people on this site have some really good food ideas and receipes!! -
Help its been a year and I just am not losing
falloutgal replied to kristie b's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey Kristie-- I have been the same weight for a little over a year after losing 86lbs. in my first year. I was banded 04/04/06. I too am eating correctly 6 days a week. I allow myself to go out to dinner with my husband once a week where I order what I want, drink a glass of wine and even split a dessert!!! I go to the gym 5 days a week where I do 45-60 minutes of cardio ans light weight training 3 times a week. On the sixth day I walk outside on a 2 mile track!! I take one day a week off from exercise. Still not losing. My doctor keeps filling me and he told me to see a dietian and go to support groups, thats not helping. I am still losing inches though, and my clothes are getting smaller, but I still want to lose more weight. I still have at least 100lbs to lose. I had my gallbladder out and had a hysterectomy since my lap band surgery!! So maybe hormones, I don't know. All I can say is I feel like giving up but I come to this site and it helps. Write me back and keep doing what you're doing, it WILL COME OFF!!! I am still hopeful! -
That sounds really good! I am so going to try that. I like crunchy things, so lately I have been buying chocolate and caramel corn rice cakes and strawberry and french vanilla cool whip. I put a tablespoon of strawberry cool whip on the chocolate rice cake with a few sliced strawberries, or the french vanilla on the caramel corn flavor with a few sliced bananas. It is actually pretty good. Of course you can mix and match any flavor you like. Hope you try it.

I had my surgery in April of 2006. I had my gallbladder out in October of 2006, and a hysterectomy in March of 2007. In that time I lost 86lbs. I have not lost any weight since November of 2007. I have been complaining to my doctor since that time. He just kept giving me fills. I usually feel the restriction for about 2-3 weeks then I lose it. I also told my doctor this. He responded with joining a support group (thats why I'm on this site-by the way its been very helpful reading about all of you-THANKS) My doctor also said to go to a nutrictionist-which I did. Still no weight loss and NO restriction. I can eat a whole sandwhich ,2-3 slices of pizza, I can eat all day long, like before the surgery, I've already gained 10lbs. back. I have an appointment with my Doctor on April 4th. He is going to pull my fills out (I have 3.8 in a 4CC band) to see how much is in there and then he said we will take it from there. But I have to admit I am terrified!! Has anyone lost their restriction? Talk to me please! Is this as good as it gets for me-Am I done with the band-I am still about 100lbs over weight.:confused::crying::confused:
-
I went to my doctor on April 4th. He said I had 3.5 cc's . He wanted to pull all the fills out before giving me another fill. He only pulled out 1 cc. He put it back with 2 more cc's for a total of 3 cc's. Over the weekend I was having trouble swallowing water. On Monday the 7th, my husband took me back to the doctor. It wasn't my doctor on call, anyway he said I was probably swollen and had to remove all the fills!:rolleyes2: Anyway he said I only had 1.5 cc's in the band!!:confused2: He made me stay on liquids for a week and told me to see my own doctor in a week. The office said the doctor was booked until May 9th so I took that appointment. Has this happened to anyone else? Please let me know, what should I do, I have NO RESTRICTION!!!!!
-
wow i ate two pieces of pizza and it didnt bother me
falloutgal replied to andielmt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Had the same problem-I could eat three slices of pie, a whole sandwhich! It was insane, and I know willpower but if I had it I wouldn't of needed the band. Anyway after being told I have 3.5 ccs in a 4 cc band with very little restriction the doctor pulled out my fills and I only had 2 ccs. One which he said was still in the tube and 1 in the band itself. He gave me a full 3 ccs and its great! I have a hard time with water. One stick of string cheese and I am full. Go get a fill!!! -
Serenity55-Its true we've all been there. Remember you can do it. We all have doubts. I told my doctor that all fat people know what we have to do to lose weight (watch our portion size, make better food choices, exercise and drink water) right? We just need help-well the band is it! Good luck to you and stay with this site-the people are great! Jack I love what you wrote.
