Hello Ollie123 and Mrs Huskers! I finally got banded on the 21st of May and so far is doing great. I have an appointment with Dr. McBride and will start the pureed phase. I must say I struggled with the liquid diet after doing it for 4 weeks and I am so ready for some mashed potatoes. (Laughing) I am also looking forward to seeing how much weight I have lost. Any suggestions on what pureed foods I can eat and how to prepare it is greatly appreciated. Wishing everyone a great evening!

I just got banded on the 21st and have 5 including the port. 3 very small ones and two medium size ones.

Hello Everyone! The doctor office called today and informed me they had received approval for my surgery. She stated once she receive my approval code (Clueless) she will call me back and set up my consultation in a couple of days. Although I'm excited I still feel like I'm so close to having the band but yet so far from having it. I decided I would now start preparing myself for it. Any suggestions are more then welcome. Hi SpecialK! Thank you for replying. I knew my insurance would approve it but just hearing them tell the doctor somehow made a big difference to me. The doctor that performs the lap band is very popular here so I'm hoping I can get in this month. I am indeed very excited. How are things going for you now that you have the band?

Hello Everyone - The last time I posted I shared my doctor gave me her approval for surgery and refered me to a weight loss doctor in the network. I attended my first weight loss seminar on the 17th of March. I contacted my insurance company today and was told they have received all the required documentation. I should be hearing from them within the next two weeks. She also gave me my case number and told me I can call everyday to check on my status. I don't know why I'm feeling nervous because my company has weight loss in their policy. I have my psych evual on the 14th. I truly believe I'm almost there!

I have UHC (Choice) and mines is covered 100% as well as my fills. Thank God! I just attended the seminar on the 17th and hoping to hear from them with my approval within the next few weeks. Wish me luck!! (Smiling)...Can't wait to get this fat off of me!

Hi Mrs. Huskers! Yes, I checked out the site on yahoo but as you stated before there's not much going on over there. I know I can't attend the meeting in April but I have scheduled a vacation day for the 5th of May so I can attend the meeting. I figure I probably wouldn't get banded until sometime in May. I'm hoping I don't have to take the sleep apena test. I know I snore and I have a hard time getting to sleep and I average 4 to 5 hours of sleep. Hopefully everyone will understand when you do shift work it effects your sleeping habits. Anyway, she said if you are required to wear a mask then you will have to wait 6 months before Dr. McBride will do surgery on you. Wish me luck!!!!...I want the band NOW! (smiling) Hopefully my insurance won't take 4 to 6 weeks to approve mines. Well, have a blessed day!

Hi Mrs. Huskers! I attended the seminar on Monday and found it to be very educational. I couldn't believe how many people attended. Dr. McBride didn't attend the seminar. Her assistant gave teh seminar and shared with us that she has been banded. She told us to go ahead and schedule our psychology appointment with Dr. Petersen. (Smiling) I called the very next morning and have an appointment on the 14th and received my paper work on Wednesday to complete. She also shared with us what insurance companies they have the most problems with and the ones that required a six months diet. She said to call your insurance and if they say approval is based on medical neccesity you would be approved. (Smiling) I previously contacted my insurance and they said mines would be approved at 100%. Now I need to contact them to find out about the fills. Although I have educated myself about the lap band, thank you for suggesting attending one of the meetings. I would love to actually meet the people who have been banded as well as meet you in person. You have been so kind and I thank you for that. Can you please send me the dates for April or May meetings? Well, I'm here on duty and better get back to work. Enjoy your day!

Hi Mrs Huskers! I'm prayerful that all is going well for you and yours. I plan to request Dr. McBride when I go on Monday. I'm not sure if they will schedule my appointment but I will inform them I want her. Hopefully she's not out on leave by the time I get approved. Wish me luck!! (Smiling) You're just one feet taller then me and us short people have to stick together. I had knee surgery after tearing my knee. I'm still trying to heal from it. I work night hours Monday thru Friday so it's hard for me to attend meetings right now. I lied to get the two hours off to attend the seminar. Shame on me but I don't wish for anyone from work to know about my plans to get the lapband. They are too judgemental and it's just not worth the headache. However, I will attend your meetings after July. Thank you for the invite! I will let you know how Monday goes! Enjoy your weekend

I plan not to tell my co-workers as well. My co-workers are too judgemental. I don't wish to hear the negative comments. One of my co-workers had gastic bypass and and all I could hear especially from the guys is how lazy they thought she was because she did the weight loss surgery. Some of the women also had negative comments as well. Since I'm on Weight Watchers and they are use to seeing me eat light or do shakes, I'm going to keep quiet and pray that all works out well on my behalf. I plan to take a week of vacation and return back to work as normal. I just hope that I'm able to wear my hoster and carry my weapon.

Mrs. Husker, I would like for Dr. McBride to do my surgery but at this stage I'm not sure. I plan to request her after the seminar on Monday. I have being doing Weight Watchers and doing great on it however I have been eating lately to help big up more weight so my chance of approval will be greater. (Laughing) I know that is probably silly of me. I do plan to go back eating healthy once my paperwork been sent in for approval. It's good to know that I don't have to do the liquid diet before hand. I wanted to start purchasing some of my items doing the waiting period. I'm 4ft 11 and wearing 225 now that I have started back to eating. It's funny how it takes so long to lose but so easy to put back on. Sorry, didn't mean to keep going and going but I'm glad that I have found this site. I'll let you know how things go on Monday. In the meantime keep doing the excellent job that you're doing. I'm so proud of everyone who's trying to better their lives. I'm sure I will have more questions later and thank you so much for replying back to my question.:thumbup:

Hello Everyone! I have finally decided to get my life back on track. I spoke to my doctor last Thursday about weight loss surgery and to my amazement she agreed it would be a good thing for me. I am scheduled to attend an informational session on the 17th. I am truly looking forward to it. By the grace of God I have United Health Care and it will pay for my surgery. I am sure I will feel so much better once I lose some of this 223 lbs off of this 4ft 11 body. (smile) I received my package today and boy do they ask a lot of questions. Well, since this will be one of my favorite sites, I wanted to stop in and introduce myself.
