I think you're the only one who needs to stop posting in these threads. I understand your struggle but even the most helpful of information presented to you and your situation you continue to be unreceptive, condescending, and belittling to whomever it may be. I truly wish you the best and I strongly urge you to seek professional mental health counseling to help you through this life changing surgical intervention that you already have made up in your mind you will always regret. What preop tests did you have?
john925 replied to ella37's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Psych, cardiac, and pulm/sleep study clearances....EGD, endless blood work, UA, ekg, chest X-ray, pulmonary function test. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I would ask your nutritionist but reddiwhip and all those have like 1 gram of carbs in them so very low carb and cals for a tiny bit. On past diets I used to take the chocolate one and fill a bowl up and freeze it and take a bite or two when I was craving something sweet! It tasted like rich ice cream! If you researched so long and thoroughly how did none of these potential complications arise in your pre op stage that you claimed happened 4 years ago and up until your surgery? Nausea and diarrhea are two of the most common side effects of this surgery and is not really considered a complication by any means. Having those common side effects in addition to your IBS diagnosis I would have no doubt in my research and mind that I would experience n/v/d for a while post surgery.... Antibiotics are very effective in treating most cases of C. diff, that I'm sorry you have that's no fun but antibiotics tend to clear the infection. I work in a hospital and have seen hundreds of people acquire it over the years and not one has ever had to have a fecal transplant or a colostomy for it like you mentioned earlier, so there is hope for you there! But I do sympathize with you on this one no one is expecting c diff and unfortunately if not treated properly can lead to death. Let's pray your antibiotic regime does the trick! I know you posted about your gall bladder too going bad. Again, I knew doing my research that it was a strong possibility that I will have to eventually get gall bladder removed; 1/3 WLS patients have to. That's an astonishingly high number. Any time with rapid weight loss and low calories your cholesterol breaks down into your blood and over accumulation develops into gall stones. Very common in WLS patients unfortunately. Being a female and over 40 are two more risk factors so if you have all 3 of those your risk goes up significantly! I wish you a speedy recovery, your not that far out...keep looking at the big picture once all these (some expected some not so expected) side effects and complications work themselves out! Hi everyone! Just wanted to update everyone I was sleeved on the 11th and am post op day 4 and doing great. I have been off of all pain medications since the night of the surgery and other than having some episodes of nausea I have been having a really smooth recovery and don't regret a thing. I was very nervous the days leading up to the surgery especially seeing almost every thread on here having posts about terrible complications. Now I have come to realize I think they were all from the same person or two. Anyways I just wanted to update you all and thank everyone for all the invaluable information I have received on here from "lurking" and posting a few times on my own. If I can be of any help to anyone in the future I would be happy to Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Hi everyone need some advice! I officially start a 8 day strictly liquid pre op diet on August 3rd for surgery the 11th... Is it safe to drink alcohol this weekend before the pre op diet starts? I'm in Chicago on a little trip and my doctor never said anything about alcohol before the pre op diet starting but wanted to hear any one else's opinion on the matter. Thanks! Vitamin D deficiency is extremely common. It depends how low your level is to say what you should be taking. Until you know taking 2-3k units daily would probably be fine. Take it with a healthy fat such as eggs. Vitamin D is fat soluble and is absorbed better that way. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Well I had my surgery my liver turned out to be small and fine! The surgeon only had to make 4 incisions instead of her usual 6! 4 days post op and am feeling pretty much back to normal minus my liquid diet and tiring easily lol. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Anyone in the Cleveland area?
john925 replied to john925's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
She is awesome! She expects her patients to be committed and lose 10 lbs from consult to surgery. She will answer all of your questions in the consult (I had 4 pages of questions! Lol). I had my surgery on the 11th and so far so good with my recovery! I work at UH and have only heard great things and recommendations about her. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I know I'm only 5 days out but yes so far I would definitely do it again! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I should have never posted this since 50% of everyone who responded lacks the comprehension to understand my question. I did not ask about consuming alcohol ON the liquid/pre-op diet. This was directed strictly to PRIOR to starting the diet. Reading all of the posts of food funerals and last hoorahs I'm sure no one on here is perfect, otherwise why are you even in this situation to begin with? I have stuck to my 1600 cal diet religiously over the past few months and my doctor said as long as I stayed within my daily caloric limit she had no problem with me drinking responsibly PRIOR to starting her official pre-op diet. Are you kidding????? Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App Thanks for your more than helpful response!! For the record I was simply asking if it was safe BEFORE the pre op diet started...wasn't asking if I could include it in the liquid diet... Anyways I ended up asking my doctor and she said it was fine to have a few non carbonated non sugary drinks before I started my liquid diet as long as I was within my daily caloric limit we had set.. I rarely drink but due to the occasion I would have liked to have a drink or two... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Any nurses/medical workers have the sleeve done?
john925 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi I'm a nurse in the icu and hoping/assuming I have a smooth surgery I am wondering how long it'll take before I am back to work? I do a lot of lifting and moving around at work so I wanted to hear from anyone else that was in similar situations and what I could generally expect about the timeframe of returning to work without limitations.... Thank you! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
