  1. Hi everyone! Hoping to be sleeved in the near future. Have my first consultation with Dr. Khaitan at university hospitals next week. I work there and have heard nothing but good things about her... Anyone else on here have her as your surgeon and willing to share experiences? Happy 4th weekend! -John Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  3. Sorry but everything Alex said is true! There have been a few posters on here that even though they may provide some good information their tone and demeanor on here is downright inexcusable... Acting like they are gods gift to Bariatric patients... As he states in the rules this is a safe place and no one should be talked down to for doing this and that. I am fortunate to have a medical background and know the rules and what could happen and all that jazz. But some of these posters even though their questions about doing/eating this and that may sound "dumb" the truth is they most likely really don't know better hence why they're asking for advice on a support page. (Health literacy... look it up). This then turns into a viscous cycle of others commenting and putting them on blast when really they don't know better and probably think they are making decent choices. These posters need help and education, not to be scrutinized by bully tactics. This is your own personal journey and what works for one person may not work for another and just because you deviate from one persons plan doesn't mean your a failure or going to fail. Pretty sure none of these people are credentialed to be giving out medical advise anyways. I have been personally very successful in my WLS journey and you better believe if I posted some of the things I have done I would've received backlash from posters on here...even though everything I've done is on MY plan. It just may not be on others, therefore with these posters mentality I would be wrong.. and fail... and everything else they like to say if you don't follow their rules. Anyways that is my little rant. Happy Saturday Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  6. Hi everyone! I am about ten pounds away from goal and definitely foresee plastics in my future. Are there any procedures that surgeons would consider before maintaining weight for X amount of time? I don't want to waste mine or the doctors time scheduling a consult too premature. I'm only 5 months out but have already met my surgeons goal and about ten lbs away from my personal goal. I am most interested in tightening the skin on my chest and lipo there as well. Everything else I can live with.. if anything else I would maybe consider a tt after maintaining for appropriate amount of time. I really don't think time will bounce back the chest at all part of it is genetics my brother has the same problem to a degree and has never been overweight and in great shape. Anyways just seeking opinions. Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Should I be upset?

Uhh no you should've known what you were getting yourself into having this surgery. I started my liquid diet the week I was on vaca with my family... now that was not fun! But it was my choice and I wasn't upset at all. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Don't feel guilty! Looks like your sticking to plan 99% of the time! As am I.. I no longer feel guilty if I want something I plan it out work it off and go about my day. I'm down 100 lbs since my first consultation in July, was sleeved in august and have reached my surgeons goal. Still want to reach my goal though .. 20 more lbs to go! 14. I'm a little over 3 months post op and couldn't be happier with my decision. My total outlook on food has changed for the better. I swear for me the pre op diet was the most difficult part! Here's a progress picture! Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  16. Kind of venting... Don't get me wrong I have learned so many helpful things because of this site on my journey but I have noticed as well how many biased opinions regarding what to do and what not to do post op as well... Sorry but every person is different. Some people have comorbidities or other circumstance that the typical "black and white cookie cutter" guide to the sleeve diet post op does not fit all. And that doesn't mean your doing something wrong. If you have a competent surgeon and knowledgeable dietician follow their plan, be smart/make good choices and results will follow. It's frustrating to see people on here bring posters down by challenging them on their choices. This site shouldn't be a substitute for a doctor or dietician. If in doubt reach out to your team Kidney patients especially for one shouldn't be getting loads and loads of Protein in. And diabetics can probably benefit from having a small serving of a whole grain at Breakfast to stabilize blood sugars through the day. But also I'm not anyone's doctor on here so don't take my advice either Bottom line is I just keep seeing advice on here that could do more damage than good especially not knowing their history. Anyways that's the end of my rant. Just because someone might not be following what worked for someone else absolutely does not mean they're doing something wrong. *disclaimer* this post is not defending those who have pizza, fried chicken, bread, alcohol days and weeks post op! Haha! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  17. Just got back from a quick trip to San Francisco. Finally a vacation that I know I didn't gain weight on! What a great feeling! Love my sleeve! I am about 10 weeks out and feeling great!

    Drinking?

Yes . But lots of things to consider. Your tolerance will be very low so be careful. Also alcohol is all empty calories so better prepare to do an extra hard workout the next day to burn off those calories! Beer is carbonated and should' be avoided. I am 10 weeks out and haven't had a drink yet but my surgeon cleared me at my 6 week appt to do so after having a talk about the things I mentioned above. But in terms of safety at 6 weeks your new stomach is healed enough to tolerate alcohol without harming it but just be careful because of empty calories and it can cause people to stall with their weight loss and transfer addiction is real in bariatric surgery patients. Whenever I do decide to indulge in a glass of wine I will make sure to plan those extra calories into my day and to do a good workout. I'm down 55 lbs since surgery and 80 lbs including weight lost during pre op. I want to get closer to goal before I try to incorporate alcohol occasionally into my plan. You'll be fine go have fun . Maybe not the best advice but sorry it really won't effect anything if your surgery is still two weeks away. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
