BMI of 21 getting gastric sleeve... thoughts?

Free school counseling is not enough for an eating disorder. Use the money you were gonna spend on surgery to get a good psychologist that deals with binge eating disorder. It just seems like youre looking for a quick fix and this is not the way. You'll end up trying to do something else next year when you figure out that surgery does not fix an eating disorder. They're not cutting out your brain and that's where your impulse to eat is coming from. Take your own advice and "stop being lazy" and put in the work to fix your head not your stomach. How do you Track/Journal?

I use the myfitnesspal app everyday. It makes it super easy to track your foods. And its free. I did pay for the advanced version so I could set Protein and carb goals. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  4. My plan is 3 meals a day plus a Protein shake. I was told to space my meals apart every 4 hours. I do sometimes have to add a snack to get in all my protein, but that doesnt happen often. This works for me! And I've been getting my 80-90g of protein in everyday. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Scared

My program didn't have me go on a pre op diet. But my personal goal was to lose 10 lbs before I had the surgery and I did it! i too was 100 lbs overweight. The key to me losing beforehand was tracking. I got the myfitness pal app and tracked religiously. This helped me get in the habit for my post op life. I also got a fitbit to track my steps and tried to walk alot as well as added zumba. I am so glad that I did this beforehand because it has helped me immensely in my post op life. I hope that helps a little bit. I viewed my pre op weeks as starting to rewire my thinking and change my habits. Just focus on finding sources that are high in Protein that you enjoy. I would definitely research vegetarian wls recipes if you dont like meat. Im only 6 weeks out, and this really is a journey with ups and downs. But it's worth it so far for me. Not behaving myself...

To help with eating too fast, the baritastic app has a timer for how long you should chew, it's a great tool to help you relearn. Also like many have said, therapy. No one is a lost cause but food is a serious emotional blanket and when we take that away we are left with the real issues and those must be dealt with. Good luck to you, you're not alone.
