I hope I can explain this well. For the past week my port has been sore to touch. I don't feel it if I don't touch it or if I bend a certain way, it feels sore, a mild pain. I had my realize band done in 2007. For the last couple of months I have had hearburn at least 2-3 times a week. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? I can still eat like usual, no problem there. Its a sore type of pain when I touch near port site or if I move a certain way. I hope someone can help me???:thumbup:

I was also on Opti Fast 2 weeks prior. Well, I am just happy your are feeling better and that you joined us in BandLand. Congrats on your decision on a healthier lifestyle. GOod Luck and keep us posted.

walk and take GAS X STRIPS they really work fast. I was very lucky I didn't have that much gas. Only 1 week later, I had a severe gas attack that lasted like 2 hours and as soon as I took the gas x, 10mins later, GONE...

Wow, my surgery was almost 45mins, not 15mins. and as for peeing they only asked me if I peed, plus they had to help me the first time I wanted to go. I am glad you are doing better, but I am worried that your surgery took 15mins and you went home same day. Just doesn't sound right to me. Just my opinion, I don't mean to worry you I had to stay overnight at the hospital. Was this done in a hospital or clinic? Are they a Center of Excellence? What do fellow banders feel about this? Is it just me???

DOWN 27lbs. YIIIPPPPEEEE!!!!!!! and I don't even have my first fill yet..... I port incision is healing well, glue still on there, but doc says it falls off on it's own. I feel good. I am on full liquids, mushy stuff. Hard to deal with it sometimes, but when I see thos 27lbs are GONE FOREVER, it makes me keep going. I am at 218lbs, (that's how much I weighed 9mos pregnant with my son :wink2: ) I just needed to share this milestone with you. EVERYONE keep up the good work.

Glue and Steri Strips. Worked great so far. Glue is still on port site. I'll let you know when it all falls off on how the scar looks.

WOW you came home the same day????? I stayed overnight, but I didn't feel any tingly stuff. If it continues, call your Doctor.

My Out of Pocket after Insurance paid was $1,100.00. I just received a statement from the hospital and it was $25,500.00 FOR 1 NIGHT HOSPITAL STAY.....yikes!!

I also had the squirts pretty bad for about 1-1/2 weeks, then after one major explosion during the night I didn't go like for 6 days, at that time I had started creamy stuff so by the 7th day, DROP IT LIKE IT"S HOT!!! lol.... Don't worry, your doing fine.

REALMCCOY: You can eat Mac n Cheese!!!! wow, which brand do you buy?? or do you make it from scratch? What is your recipe? I love mac n cheese and I didn't think I could have it. I haven't had my first fill yet, but I want to know what I can expect after the fill.

What about Breakfast cereals???? Hot & cold. Which ones can you eat if any????????? eggs, which way do you cook them to go down easily????

g2s, Your recipe sounds Delicious!!!. I have been on mushies and all I have had is Light Creamy Soups & SF pudding. Day Of Surgery 3/4 231 lbs. As of Today 3/18 220 lbs. YEAH! I WILL NEVER SEE THOSE 11#again

Thank you all for your suggestions. I ocassionaly go out to eat and the places I listed are usually where my family likes to go, so I just wanted to be prepared. I have not had my first fill yet, but I am in my creamy/mushie stage. I always try to pick the healthy part of the menu, but sometimes you have no choice, so you try to pick what at least you like and hope for the best.

I told DH, my mom & sis and few close friends. They have all been very supportive. The only people I haven't told are my in-laws. They are really good people and love me very much, but I feel they will see my band as weakness. So I prefer not to tell them right now. My DH is always asking me when are you going to tell my parents and I reply WHEN I"M READY. There is really no need for them to know. 6 days post op I told them I was feeling ill that I couldn't eat anything just broth, now I will tell them I'm on a diet and that's it. Why do they need to know NOW? I may tell them later, just not now. So DH is cool with that. And even by DH knowing, I feel he is looking at everything I eat now. He asked me the other day, HOW MANY SF JELLO'S CAN YOU HAVE AN A DAY? BECAUSE I ALWAYS SEE YOU EATING A JELLO????? I LOOK AT HIM AND SAY "DOES IT BOTHER YOU THAT I EAT JELLO????? I CAN EAT AS MANY AS I WANT? I AM ON A CLEAR LIQUID DIET HERE AND I THINK EATING MY JELLO IS SATIFYING MY HUNGER? DO YOU HAVE A PROBELM WITH THAT????? He just looked at me and "OK, BABE I WAS JUST ASKING" and left at that. So I PUT HIM IN HIS PLACE....lol.......Don't tick me off when I'm HUNGRY....grrrr.

I have CIGNA/HMO, they submitted on 1/29 and on 2/5 I received a call from my surgeon that I was approved. IT WAS FAST!!! I did find out later that on 2/5 I was denied for "Gastric Lapband", the surgeons office automatically appealed that same day and I got approval. I received the approval letter and it said approved for "Outpatient Surgery". I got banded on 3/4. I had to pay $100.00 at the hospital as a copay and $1,000.00 to the surgeon assistant. (Which I don't know if he was even there, but that is a small price to pay compared to self-payers). Do know that I did exactly what my surgeon's office said as to what I needed to have and do to get approval. 6 months of weight documentation Psych evaluation - 1 visit Dietician evaluation - 1 visit BMI at 40 Good Luck.

Port site hurts me, like shooting pains or I am pulling my wound. But it is still intact. It hurts to the touch. Not awfull pain, but pain. I am only 1 week post op.

I don't know. I have a small cup of coffee every morning, it fills me up until about 12:30. Good Luck.

I was banded on 3/4 and I cheated a little yesterday. I used my pointer finger to scoop up Key Lime Mango Pie. It was so delicious. It was a small piece and I only ate the pudding & whip cream. It was such a pleasure to have some thickness in my mouth besides, BROTH!@$!! I think it even filled me up. I wasn't hungry for the rest of the night. Since my preop I have lost 20lbs. and I keep loosing, I just can't handle the broth clear liquid thing no more. On Tuesday will be 2 weeks post op and I can go FULL liquid diet, which includes creamy Soups and yogurt. But I have a strong feeling, this FULL Liquid diet will begin this weekend, I ll just do it slowly and carefully. I just keep telling myself this is TEMPORARY, you will soon be on solids and on your way to loosing more weight and making nutritious food choices. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK

TODAY, March 4, is my Lap Band Day. Today a new chapter in my life begins. A day that will change me for the better. The day I get HEALTHY!! Sometimes, I amaze myself of how brave I am. I quit smoking cold turkey 3 years ago and now I am undergoing surgery. If you know me, you know I am a chicken, but I am slowly learning that I am not. I am a strong & confident woman who knows what she wants and is being proactive. This strength comes from within and from my family. I thank my husband, first of all because of his job we have the insurance that we have and it's covering it 100%. So thank you Honey!!! Also due to my weight, I have been unhappy with myself and it's putting a burden on my marriage. Slowly I am liking myself again. I also need to thank these boards for all your support. You guys inspire me, to be better. Thank you. So, wish me luck, my surgery is in the afternoon. I AM SUPER EXCITED!!! TALK TO YOU SOON,

I'm feeling okay. I have soreness around my belly. NO gas pains, thank god. I am in no pain either. I am very happy so far. I just feel groggy, I am sleeping alot. Luckily I don't go back to work until Monday. I am on Clear liquids for 2 weeks. Overall THUMBS UP!!

I have to be at the hospital by 10am, but I am not scheduled until the afternoon. I am calm, because I know this is a good thing, the right thing to do, but am nervous about when I wake up if pain or no pain, gas or no gas. They weighed me yesterday, 231 lbs. YEAH!!, down 7lbs. I pray for all of us to have a perfect surgery & speedy recovery. Best Wishes,

My Dr Prescribed 1 Pill To Take The Night Before Surgery, It's Called "emend". I Hope It Works.
