    Any 7/14's- post op?

Greetings all...sleeved on 7/15. I stalled for a week and a half and just came out of it. I've read other posts about stalls and how upset it makes you. I thought people just needed to grow a set and nut up. I can honestly say that the stall has humbled me. Talk about depression! I really didn't think I was going to make it. Now I'm out of the stall and down 20lbs since surgery. pretty sure I've lost it all in my boobs. My doctor let me go to mushy foods at week 2. They aren't kidding when they say eat slowly! I get the most intense pain in my back if I don't follow that rule and wind up twisting into all sorts of unnatural positions to try and stop the stabbing feeling. Good news...the husband is considering the surgery now! Anyone else a two surgery household?

    Smoker [emoji19]

Vape saved me. I gradually brought the nicotine level down to nothing.
  3. Okay...day 2 post op. I have to say, this is not bad. There are moments of pain but pain meds are my friend these days. Walking makes a huge difference. It really hurts at first but concentrate on standing up straight and walking and you'll get through it. Sip slowly...you'll regret it if you don't.

    Airport security issues ?

I had my surgery a few days ago. No staples, he used glue. Do you think I'll have the same problem?

    Robotic Surgery ?

I just had robotic surgery on the 15th. My surgeon gave me the option. The incisions are smaller with the robot. No problems at all.

    Dreading the Nausea!

Had my surgery yesterday. So far so good. Absolutely no nausea! Weird of advise...gas strips will save your life. When the pressure starts to build, pop one on your tongue and wait for the burp :-)
  7. Greetings from my hospital room! I am happy to announce that I'm sleeve, rested, and ice chips are my new best friend;). This forum has been a treasure chest of information! The pain when I first woke up was difficult, and by difficult I mean WOW...But the pain meds are marvelous! Walk the first chance you get; pee as soon as you can. Burp, burp, burp!
  8. Leaving for the hospital in about 2 hours. Nervous....very nervous. I've been up all night second guessing this decision. Wish I could sleep. That would help this night go by so much faster!
  9. I have the same doctor and am having surgery at Baylor on the 15th. I'm nervous but happy to have it done!
  10. I also have this. They found it last week during my endoscopy. My doctor makes everyone have one prior to the surgery so they can fix it while inside. My surgery is on Friday and I'm having both procedures done. They said it will take about 3 hrs. I'll know about the pain Friday....not looking forward to it (the pain).
  11. You're making your life better! Good luck!
  12. @@ladymiz / @@Stacy43 - They'll probably do your chest x-ray at your pre-op appt. That's when they did mine.
  13. I have become an angry person. I stopped smoking and am on a voluntary liquid diet, since my doctor didn't require one. My skin is crawling and as I sit here at work, typing this, I want to throw my hard drive through the window. Now, to the good stuff...I have wanted this surgery for years but finally got up the nerve to do it. Unfortunately, I'm plagued by guilt. Five years ago I weighed 150, down from 190. I did it through workouts and limiting my calories. I was so proud of myself! Now I weigh 240 and no longer have the energy to do what I did previously. I'm tired all the time. I hate the clothes I have to wear....let's face it, fat clothes aren't as cute as skinny ones. I walk around with a smile on my face (that's part of my job) and it's nothing but a mask. That's not to say that I'm not a happy person...I love to play and joke around...but there is always the little voice in the back of my head saying, "You look horrible and everyone knows it." I'm nervous and guilt ridden about the procedure. So much so that very few people know. Thank heavens I also have a hiatal hernia so I can tell everyone at work I'm going in to fix that and it won't be a lie. I'm not, however, questioning whether or not I should have the procedure. I know that I have to have it. I know that I can't exercise effectively on my arthritic knees anymore with this amount of weight. I can barely walk. This is going to be an emotionally charged week for me. I'm glad I found this board. Learning from their experiences has help a ton with the nerves.
  14. I also live in McKinney!!! Small world. I'm 5 days out and getting nervous...er.
  15. I think I'm alone here but I love anesthesia. Don't get me wrong, I'm still nervous. I hate needles so an iv is what I'm dreading the most. I loathe being tethered to an iv stuck in the top of my hand. I always have. Seriously, I would rather have an epidural than an iv but you can't have one without the other. But, as soon as I see the nurse inject my iv with something I know that sweet sleep is soon to follow and I smile every time.
  16. From my understanding, Biotene keeps your mouth moist! Sounds like a must have in the hospital after surgery.
  17. Lucky I am the opposite I'm looking forward to mine shrinking. Mine started developing when I was 9 so they have been huge ever since. I was actually looking into a reduction before I decided on the sleeve. So I welcome them being smaller after the surgery even if they are deflated. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  18. I looked at Dr. Nicholson but decided to go with Dr. Veninga instead. There is nothing wrong with Dr. Nicholson that I know of but I found Dr. Veninga's office staff to be so wonderful! They are on top of everything. I had my approval 2 days after it was submitted, partly because they are all over the ppwk. I was referred to him by a co-worker and I'm so happy I was. He works out of Baylor in Carrollton and they get you in fast. He's a little goofy but I like that. I had no idea until I started reading posts online what some people go through for approval and how long they have to wait after approval. 1st apt with Dr. Veninga - 1/28/16 Ppwk submitted - 6/29/16 His staff called me at 7:30 am on 7/1 to tell me I was approved!!!! Endoscopy - 7/5 Pre-Op appt - 7/8 Surgery - 7/15 One more thing I love...he doesn't require the 2 week liquid diet prior to surgery. I'm opting to do it anyway...just 1 week before. Where do you live in Dallas?
  19. So...I'm sitting here at work keeping myself entertained/busy. One thought keeps returning ... and I'm a little embarrassed to admit it but since I'm not really doing anything anyway, I shall. After the surgery, my boobs are going to shrink. Yes, this is actually the single thought occupying my mind at present. TMI? Probably. You see, when I was younger and quite a few pounds lighter, they were fine. They were a good size for my frame. Then I had children, 4 to be exact. I nursed all of them. Mothers out there will understand what I'm saying. My once exquisite mammaries were reduced to old, stretched out gym socks. Gaining weight, though biting the big one, did give me one benefit....a nice pair of knockers again. Now, before you go crazy understand that I have no intention of backing out of the surgery just so the "girls" can look nice. That's just insanity. I will miss them though. Maybe I should have a "going away party" for them.
  20. Just ordered the Biotene spray in anticipation of my surgery Friday. Thanks for the advice!
  21. How about...instead of a book, I bring a fashion magazine with lots of cool clothes I'll be able to wear in about 7 months? That might keep me focused and help with the pain
  22. So...originally I planned to take 2 weeks off but found out that my short term dis pays at 100% for up to 3 months. Armed with that info, I opted to take 6 weeks off. 6 GLORIOUS WEEKS off. Okay, maybe not glorious. I just want to make sure I'm rested and ready to hit the ground running when I return to work. Slacker? Perhaps. I haven't had this much time off since I was unemployed in 2008 and I'm not going to lie...I'm kind of excited
  23. Greetings fellow sleevers - pre and post! I'm starting my list of items to pack for the hospital and thought some of you might have additional ideas. 1. myself 2. chap stick - dry lips 3. pillow - helps getting up and is a buffer between stomach and seatbelt on the ride home 4. GasX strips 5. A book Any other ideas or suggestions? I'm all ears
