I know. You are not alone. It is vital to keep your decision to take care of yourself safe from people who cannot honor it. It's hard. I chose not to tell some of my best friends because I don't want to hear "concerns" or criticism. I just reached a point that I knew I couldn't diet anymore. This tool is an amazing gift. You deserve it.

I do think that you are doing an amazing job with your diet, however I believe that you deserve a break. You are suffering from "dieting fatigue". I coined this term to describe the pain of yo yo dieting. It wears a person down and leaves nothing but self loathing. It's exhausting. I was sleeved 7/5 and am already seeing results from this tool. I am down from a high weight of 215 to 177 as of today. I think we all need to acknowledge how hard we've worked all of our lives and that the dieting needs to end. Surgery is a leg up. It evens the playing field. You deserve this. Do not listed to ill informed people with outdated ideas about WLS.

You sound just like me. I had my sleeve done on the fifth of this month. I'm already down almost 20 pounds from my pre-op diet start date. I considered WLS as a preventative measure as I was not getting any healthier and felt defeated by dieting. I do not feel guilty or like I took the easy way out. Ultimately, it's up tp us to make decisions about our health. I have said this before and will say it again: I feel like those of us with a low BMI suffer from dieting fatigue. It is a scary and hopeless place to be. It may not be as bad as being morbidly obese, but it robs us of joy and is dissabling in its own way.I definitely needed a new tool and am so excited because I know it works! Yay, for you!

I am still drinking some shakes because I don't know how else to get my protein. Not sure how to purée food. Seems gross.

When can we just swallow our pills instead of crushing them? -
I had my surgery on 7/5. I started pre-op diet at 197 and am now 179. I am having a hard time getting all of my protein in and have not been able to walk or exercise because my back went out. I have never had my back go out like this. I have been to the chiropractor and am on pain meds, ice and heat...even had a massage. Anyway, too much time on the couch and in front of the TV, but I am losing. Many of my clothes are falling off of me. It is a miracle! Can't wait to be able to move.

Yes, there is WiFi that is free and faster options that cost money. Everything is cheap. We rented a few movies and they were good about bringing broth, Popsicles and water.

I also went to Tijuana. Dr. Ortiz. The only problems I had was identifying what the gas sensation was. It felt like tightness in my chest. Also, just being straight up bored at the Marriott. We finally discovered the pool and spent time reading in the shade. Everyone is very nice an helpful. You will quickly meet others that are having or just had the procedure.

I went into surgery with a 30 BMI and am 51. I don't think I am going to have saggy skin. Was sleeved 7/5/16 so am only a few weeks out. I weighed 187 on that day and am 179 today. The weight loss is slower than those with a high BMI. Bottom line, I would prefer losing the weight and having extra skin than remaining obese. So far, my skin looks great. My highest weight was 215.

I agree. The Pre-op diet felt so familiar because I had used shakes to lose weight in the past. It felt like post traumatic stress, reliving ghost diets and feeling that constant hunger. I don't know how I did it. I am grateful that I will never have to do that again! Just take it a day at a time and give yourself little cheats to get by.

Hi, I am 51 and was self pay. My BMI hovered around 30-32 and., needless to say, after a lifetime of dieting I was tired. I think that those of us that have been struggling with diets over decades suffer a fatigue that is as unbearable as being morbidly obese. I didn't tell many people because of the stigma and fear around the procedure. I don't know about you, but I was so tired of the drudgery and was willing to walk through fire for a solution. I had my surgery of July 5 and am already feeling the power of this great tool. I am down from a high weight of 215, pre-op diet starting weight of 197 to 183 as of today. I liken it to learning how to drive a shift: you have to participate it the process. I am still learning what I can and can't handle in stage 2 of recovery. Baby steps! You are going to be fine. I don't know where you are having your procedure, but you are sure to find fellow travelers who are just as scared, and excited, as you are. Stay in touch. Xo

51 and TONS of fun: My Story
Hayleymillay replied to Hayleymillay's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I got home two days ago. Overall, the whole experience was great! The only problem about Tijuana is that there is not much to do but go to the mall and spend money. The beach was beautiful and exciting; lots of music and color, happy people ...and amazing smelling food! LOL. I plan on going back to indulge in small amounts on my sleeversary. I'm down about 3 pounds since the surgery. Now 184 from 197 three weeks ago. Yay! -

I am going in on 7/5/2016 and am also around a 30 BMI after pre-op diet. I just want the crazy to end. I don't care if the weight loss is slow. I just want the tool.
