  1. I bought 2 months worth of the Patches. My doctor's office didn't know about them and said that there are so many new products appearing on the market that they just can't keep up with them all. They gave me the go-ahead to try them. I was concerned about chewing tablets right after surgery, so this seemed like a good alternative. Also the price was so much better than all the supplements I would have to buy, even if I bought the Vitamin pills that you only have to take once a day. My surgery isn't until the 28th, but I'll come back after my post-op appointment and let you know what my numbers are. Sent from my SM-N900T using the BariatricPal App
  2. I also had a hard time sleeping. At about 1 am they put a mask on me and said I had severe sleep apnea. The doctor showed me that I had stopped breathing 120 times in 1 hour. The computers are set to only record legit instances if apneas. For example, if you swallow or roll over, those are not registered. Then my surgeon explained that the only reason they do a sleep test is that it's important to know in your recovery. The anesthesia will slow your breathing, and if on top of that you have sleep apnea it could be potentially danger and they need to know to keep a close eye on you. Many overweight people have sleep apnea. So I can't see it being an issue that would stop anyone from having surgery. Sent from my SM-N900T using the BariatricPal App

    Pre- Op liquid diet advice!

My doctor said I could have creamy low fat soups, strained, while on liquids before and after surgery. I just made some cheese Soup and added some of my homemade taco seasoning to it. Yummmm! Sent from my SM-N900T using the BariatricPal App

  5. I did the same thing! After my survey started, I started realizing how I should have worded things differently or other questions I should have asked. As for the metrics, they are easily converted with the internet. Sent from my SM-N900T using the BariatricPal App

    On liquid diet and fainted

Like theprofessor, I had a few rounds of being "irrationally emotional", but that was in my first few days. I tried to go back to the gym today, but just couldn't handle it. Sent from my SM-N900T using the BariatricPal App

    Broth before surgery

My daughter took me to a Japanese restaurant today. She had discovered a soup that was awesome and wanted me to try it. Seaweed soup. It's normally just an appetizer and they give you the option of broth only, or with seaweed and mushrooms. Of course i just got the broth, but my daughter asked if they had a larger size. They brought me some in a medium sized to go cup and still only charged the regular price, $.99! It was soooooo good! Sent from my SM-N900T using the BariatricPal App

  10. I've been looking for something like this. What are you wearing home? I thought about a very modest flannel gown, but I really wanted to wear clothes. I didn't have anything really loose across my belly, so I bought a stretchy soft maxi dress to wear home. Found one for just $9. Sent from my SM-N900T using the BariatricPal App

    Liquid Multivitamins

I have ordered the Patches. Should be here today. I asked the doctor's office about it and they said it would be fine, they just haven't recommended them because they weren't aware of them. I think that will be best for me. I hate the thought of vomiting worse than the pain. Ugh! Sent from my SM-N900T using the BariatricPal App
  13. This goal sounds like a "maximum" you could potentially reach, not a minimum. Besides, what is he going to do if you don't make goal? He can't take the surgery back. Just track and record food and activity and take it to your apppointment. When he sees your sincere effort, he may be able to help you better. Sent from my SM-N900T using the BariatricPal App
  14. I had to do a survey for college also. I would certainly help if I could. I know how important it is to get as many people as possible to fill it out. I also used survey monkey. These surveys truly are anonymous and she has all of her information available before you fill out the survey. Very good job! Sent from my SM-N900T using the BariatricPal App
  15. Yes, I'm still very obsessive when it comes to making decisions. I must research and contemplate every possible option before committing to anything. No such thing as an impulse purchase or impromptu activity for me. And this is exactly the way my dad is.I'm the same way. My husband says I'm over-analytical. He's right. But that's how I have been all my life. Sent from my SM-N900T using the BariatricPal App

    Why chew?

I am preop, scheduled for 7/28 (I just love saying that!). When they first told me about the chewing and they told me to go ahead and start practice that. I am typically a slow eater and the last to finish when we go out, and I discovered I was already chewing even more than they said. My question is, if you are not taking long to eat, how do you handle finishing first when you are with a group of people? Are you left to twiddle your thumbs while everyone else is eating? Are you tempted to continue to nibble on your plate? Sent from my SM-N900T using the BariatricPal App

    My work here is done

I read the bacon ordeal. To me, it wasn't just the fact of eating a piece of bacon. But, I'm not sure what kind of response they were expecting by posting it on a board full of people who are struggling to make healthier choices and positive lifestyle changes. Did they expect support? A pat on the back and "it's ok"? If you eat something that unhealthy, don't come on here unless you want help getting on the right path. Otherwise, just go tell those people in your life who think you were crazy for getting the surgery in the first place. I personally appreciated the bluntness of your respnse. I typically avoid social media like the plague, but I came here to learn from others. Sent from my SM-N900T using the BariatricPal App
  18. July 28!! Suppose to start the liquid diet on the 12th, but started today. I'm very excited and not the least bit nervous.... so far. I don't usually worry about things until it's time to happen. I'm suppose to be at the hospital at 5 am and scheduled for 7 am, so I won't have much time to be nervous.
  19. Mine is July 28 and my husband could have had his august 18th, but our son is getting married august 20 and my husband is doing the ceremony. He didn't think he would be able to perform the wedding that close after surgery so he is trying to get a later date, but not too late. Sent from my SM-N900T using the BariatricPal App

    Quitting smoking

Missb1982 is so right! It's a mind game. I quit after smoking over 20 years. I found that trying to wean myself off of them really didn't work because like she said, you still have to put down that last one and make up your mind that you will never lick up another one. When I would want one, I kept telling myself, "you are not a smoker any more". Don't tell yourself you are "trying" to quit, tell yourself that you "are" quitting. Chronic heart failure

This truly touched me right at the heart. I don't know how you feel about prayer, but I did pray for you. I have no experience, and don't know of any. And i can't begin to imagine all the emotions you are experiencing right now. It's useless to tell someone not to worry, but I do want to encourage you to at least try to think positive. Until they tell you that you cannot have surgery, you still can. They might just make you wait a little while. Even if you can't have surgery, that's not the end of your fight. You made the decision to have surgery because you want to make changes, well go ahead and make whatever changes you can. Find and focus on those things you can do for yourself right now, and you will soon find your thoughts leaving behind the things you have no control over. Hoping and praying the best for your health.
