    starting over with lapband

Formerly Fluffy, I did lose weight with the lap band, I lost over 100 lbs. The reason that I stopped losing weight and gained it back was because I had to get all of the Fluid removed from my band and leave it out for 6 months before a Doctor in my home town would do my fills. I am not saying that I have been following the rules, because I didn't. You are a very judgmental person and I hope that you never have to reap the seeds that you have sown. It is because of people like you and your negative attitude that people are not honest when they fall of the band wagon and why they do not turn to the lap band talk support system to get back on track. Best of luck to you on your journey, I do not want people like you in my life!!

    starting over with lapband

I am so glad that I came across this post today.... I also need to take accountability. I was banded in March 2008 and I lost over 100 lbs with the help of the lapband. However, I moved out of state and needed to get all of my fill removed to be seen by a new Doctor for fills... needless to say I have gained back almost all of my weight in about a year. I went in for a fill today and I have got to get back on the bandwagon!! I want to get back to where I was and I need to start following the all of the rules, all of the time... not just when it is convenient for me!

    Flying after a "fill"

I fly to get all of my fills... I live in Nevada and fly to San Diego to get my fills done. I have never noticed any difference from the flights, but I live in a high elevation area (5,000+). However, I did notice that when I went on vacation for 2 weeks at sea level that I had less restriction.

Who Has Lost Over 100 Pounds?!?!

Ebony... I've never had any issues with Diabetes, but it does run in my family. I knew that I could lose weight doing low carb, because I have done Atkins before and lost weight. I just wasn't able to keep it off long term. I am 5'9" and I lost weight alot quicker in the beginning. I still lose around 8-10 lbs a month, but I have a work harder to lose it now. I have still have some loose skin on my upper arms, inner thighs, and my lower abdomen area, but doing the resistence training every night is really helping to tone that up. Stay focused... What you do everyday makes a big difference. Know why you are eating...Are you truely Hungry or are you just bored, lonely, or depressed. Create new healthy habits... Walking, Exercising, or anything physical. I kept track of my weight every week, because I was more motivated to know that I lost 2-4 lbs in a week than I was weighing myself everyday and only losing .5 lb a day. Best of luck on your journey!!

Who Has Lost Over 100 Pounds?!?!

I have tried to stick to a low carb diet as much as possible (including the pre & post-op stages) and I really watch my portions. I also do resistance/weight training everyday and walk about 30 miles a week. I'm not going to lie to you... It has been really hard to stay focused at times, but I'm going to get married after the first of the year and I really want to look my best.

    I Need Reassurance.

Wow... It's hard to believe that six months ago I was in the same place that you are. I am so glad that I made the choice to have lap band surgery. Like you... I tried what seemed to be every weight loss strategy that came along. I was successful for a little while and then I would get stressed and put it all back on and then some. I am 30 years old and it felt like life was passing me by. The lap band will not solve all your problems, but it will help you make better choices. Instead of eating my way through problems I have developed new ways to cope. I wish you luck in your journey and know that you will make the decision that is right for you.
  10. I am interested in finding out if anyone else will be getting banded around the same time as me. I am also interested in talking to other people banded by Dr Huacuz and hearing about your experience.
  11. I am new to the lap band experience. I am scheduled to get banded on 3/28/2008 by Dr Huacuz in TJ, MX. I haven't told anyone I know that I am going to get this done, but would love the support from someone who has gone through this or is in the same situation. Do you have any advice... Would you have done something different?? Let me know...
  12. Sorry to tell ya this but, It happens... I did the liquid stage pretty much low carb. When I moved to the mushie stage low carb wasn't really an option and I gained 5 lbs back. I will go back to low carb when I hit the solid stage, I'll just do a little more walking during this stage and tone up a bit and in the end hopefully everything will be fine.

Anyone getting Banded by Dr Huacuz on 3/28/2008!!

I think anyone that has had good results from their surgeon feels like they had the best. I feel like I made the best decision for me. I researched alot of Dr's and made the best choice for me medically and financially. I would not have been able to get the surgery done here in the states... It is not covered under my insurance. I was not willing to fight the appeal process for the next year and hope for approval. I chose to have the procedure done by Dr. Huacuz, because he was the best Dr. for me. I am happy with my level of progress and I am also happy with the aftercare that I have through him.

    March 28th!

I understand you completely... Only my boyfriend knows about my lap-band and I only told him, because I didn't think I would be able to hide it from him. I will wait to tell my parents and sister until I see them in person, because they live out of state... That should be around the end of June. I hope that my results will be able to speak for themselves by then. As far as co-worker's go I will never tell them...It's really none of their business. They notice that I have lost weight and I just tell them that I eating better and not drinking soda anymore.
  15. Unjury makes an unflavored protein powder. I have added it to just about everything you can think of jello, pudding, apple juice, yogurt... you can order sample packets online before you purchase it in the bigger canister. Hope that help you:thumbup:

    Any Self Payers???

I was a self pay also. I took out a Flexible Spending account at work for $5000 and saved up the other $2700 and went to Mexico for the surgery. Getting the lap-band was the best decision/investment that I have ever made.

    March 28th!

I am doing very well. I have been working 10 hour shifts at work since Monday. I still have some tenderness at the incisions, but that is to be expected(So I'm told...This was my first surgery). I haven't really had alot of problems with gas since Saturday. I measure everything out and never drink more than 3/4 cup of anything or I get pain in my chest or my left shoulder. I haven't had to take any pain medication since I came home, but I really do alot of walking and sleep with a heated blanket at night. 5 days post op and down 9lbs... I'm sold on the lap-band!!

Protein Shake tastes like card board!!

I am also loving the chocolate unjury... I just mix mine with milk put it in my mixer and throw it in the freezer. Nice for a Protein filled snack.

    3 days Post-op pain

I was banded on 3/28 and have been doing fairly well with the gas pains. I figured out after the second day that most of mine were caused by taking in too much liquid to fast. Since then I have been measuring out all of my liquids... my limit is just under 3/4 of a cup. If I sip it slowly I do not get gas... If I don't well then my body lets me know.

    Sleeping with the Band

I was just banded on 3/28 and I woke up the morning after surgery on my stomache. Now I just put a pillow down on the bed and lay right on top of it. I don't wake up at all throughout the night with pains and I don't have the gas in the morning either. But then agin when I have pain at the incision sites I think compression gives me the quickest relief... And I'm sure that's not the norm either!!

Looking for some support in Reno!!

I'm glad that you are doing well. I can't wait until the 28th, it seems like time is going by slower now that I am getting close. I think I am going to go with Dr. Billy in Truckee for fills if I don't want to go to TJ. Any advise that you have to offer would be great...
