Getting sleeved July 12
MarieLouise replied to ehedary's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Today I feel much better. Able to sip water without too much discomfort, less gurgling. I actually slep though the night last night, which I think has a lot to do with how I feel today. Energy is still low. My main goal today is getting in my liquids! Coughing and sneezing are unpleasant but not excruciating. I need to start moving around more too. -
The glue should just fall off by itself. If there is an edge poking out that might catch on stuff, you can trim it off with small nail scissors.

@@ehedary I'm noticing the slimy mucus too. At first I thought it was post-nasal drip, but I just remembered reading here about some people experiencing that stuff coming up from their stomach. I think that's what I'm getting. Also have lots of rumbling and dry mouth. Hopefully tomorrow is better. -

Had mine on the 12th too. How are y'all feeling? I'm not really having pain but seriously struggling with my fluids. -
First night home and need help!
MarieLouise posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my sleeve done on Tues the 12th and this is my first night home. I just woke up with horrible burning like reflux, some nausea and my whole body is flushed. No fever. I took 2 tums and a zofran, but it's too soon to know if it will help. Any other advice? I'm scared to drink water right now. -

I can have clear liquids only, no protein shakes until day 7. So, plain or flavored water, broth, Popsicles etc. but I've only tried water so far. Nothing appeals to me yet. thanks for the tips. -

Thanks all. No milk yet on my plan. The burning has lessened some. Just took my first PPI dose. I'm getting worried about my fluid intake. I've had 100cc over the last 2 hrs. Every sip is followed by sooo much gurgling and an unsettled feeling. Does that sound about right for this phase? Do I just force the fluids passed that? I'm going to call my MDs office when they open but I don't want to get too far behind. -
361 Days Later: My Story

Thanks for sharing. I'm getting sleeved in the morning and having a tough time with doubt and nerves right now. Your story is just the thing I need. Great job! You sound so happy. -
The robotic arms can move and angle in a way that human arms cannot. My surgeon does robotic surgery but not at the surgery center I am going to. It kinda gives me the willies too if I'm honest, but I trust my surgeon's opinion on her skills.

My policy has an exclusion as well. Really, my husband's employer chose to exclude it for financially purposes I would guess. I'm going cash pay. There is no other option for me. Insurance doesn't care if it's medically necessary or not.

FYI my liquid diet friends

What types of broth have you found? I'm thinking about that a lot. A bouillon cube in water does not sound appealing. However, the seasoning from ramen noodles would be awesome if it didn't have so much sodium lol. Do you think if my family has gumbo that I can eat just the liquid? Same for stew? -
Post Op Care. How to get it after Mexico
MarieLouise replied to HeavenlyGirl101's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We can all share individual experiences and I'm sorry you had a bad one. I wanted the OP to know that her trouble potentially finding a surgeon to care for her later is not isolated to bariatrics or non-US surgeries. I don't want her to feel an additional stigma when we already all face so many. -

I disagree with your thoughts on why other surgeons don't want to follow you. It's not where you had the surgery but simply that they didn't perform it. This is true for every type of surgery, even gallbladder removal, hernia repair etc. Surgeons do not, as a rule, take care of another surgeon's post-op complications. -

How long do you plan to take off work after surgery?
MarieLouise replied to Amber M.'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm planning to go back at 2 weeks but I don't do any lifting at work. I'm also part time so that helps. -
Feelings of should I?

Yep, having second thought every other hour lol. Pickles are not a big slip. Just acknowledge what happen and why, then move on. -
Pre-surgery timeline for cash pay patients in US
MarieLouise posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Can anyone comment on the waiting period between your consultation and your surgery if you had no bariatric benefits and paid cash in the US? Did it change your pre-op testing? I was given a quote as a cash pay pt and it stated that your pre-op diet plan was not included, about $60-120. However, it made no mention of EGDs, sleep studies, etc. If I need those, my expenses will sky-rocket. I'm wondering if those are insurance requirements or physician requirements. Asking here instead of pre-op because I thought I may find more people who have been through it. Thanks! -
