Why has no one read my post on giving a party?
Victoriana replied to bitteroldhag's topic in Rants & Raves
Looks like there is a reason no one has read it, please repost it so we can read it ok? Sounds kinda funny. -
I didnt see the program but Katie is a little out there sometimes, she could never relate to how it feels to be obese, even if she was fully informed, about the band and the fact that it can be removed, so what if it is a drastic move, it needs to be sometimes so they can at least live!! I dont really care if others think it is desparate or drastic, I am worth every last measure to better myself and my health, Maybe some others are happy to see the results, and get the band too!

Discussion: Why People Decide N Long Run to Have Gastric Bypass
Victoriana replied to speck's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think that some people get the bypass as the band is still relatively new. I think that in about 10 more years the rolls may be reversed as the complications are so much different. I know that the death rate is considerably lower also. For me, my cardio Dr. was happy to ok the band but a bypass,, He wouldnt recomend that one. Best wishes, your decision is one only you can make! -
I love the song that says in the chorus, and He walks with me and He talks with me and He tells me I am His own, and the joy we share as we tarry there, none other has ever known! I think its called, In the Garden or I come to the Garden alone. so sweet.

I found a cure for Acid Reflux/heartburn
Victoriana replied to tonya66's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Previous post, Gerd and the lapband. on 10/29, I posted about this same thing and wrote about the reasons my Dr. had me try this. His explanation about the sphinter muscles was amazing. Wierd Huh? We have parallel posts! -
Laurend, Please be sure that you can find out the dollar ammount they will pay, as my insurance said that they would pay 80% of my Dr charges. That sounded great, then they refunded me only $300. When I investigated they said that they refunded 80 percent of what THEY considered reasonable and customary charges. Not what I was actually charged. It was a real scam. I am very glad I have my band though, I cant put a price on my health. Best Wishes!

Why dont you PM him?

Ive never heard of air in a band, and about the port pain, it could be a lot of different things, pulling on stitches, infection, bruising inside from sleeping wrong, call your Dr. and gain peace of mind, They are used to your history and should be the only ones giving you directions. Hope you get relief soon!

Yea Green!!! Should we call ourself munchkins from the land of Oz? I love being green, In more ways than one, ie environmental, a Kermit lover would say its easy being green! Oh maybe we should call ourselves nonmunchkins?

Hello Carlene, I do hold my vows as sacred, and I love my hubby with all my heart, as he loves me and wouldnt ask me to do something that makes me uncomfortable. If Mr.P needs male companionship, your hubby sounds very compasionate. I also understand that submission to my DH doesnt make me a doormat, He provides spiritual covering to me to which I respect him for, and if he were to ask me to attend a dinner with Mr.P I would also find that more than uncomfortable. However, I wouldnt automatically assume that Mr.P is having a sexual relationship, call me nieve, but I wouldnt even ask about such a thing. I would assume that he finds it easy to be around the caregiver as they share the common bond of Mrs. P.... Why dont you write a card to Mr. P and let him know how sad you are about Mrs. P and that a friendship or aquantence with the caregiver would seem awkward, as you respect his marraige to Mrs P., even though the caregiver could be a fabulous person. Perhaps he would understand that in time, there could be a friendship in the making but for now its too soon. I think if you honor your DH with the courtesy of a meeting with Mr. P and the caregiver, whith his (DH) understanding that you will deliver this notecard, your DH may not want you to go after all. But for DH to ask you to not be true to yourself is unfair, you respect him and yourself too much for that. I also find that prayer to find favor in your own DH's eyes is very powerfull. How could he not love you for honoring the institution of marraige and Him in the process? Bless your heart, you will find the right thing to do, and say.

Banded over a year ago, no luck so far!
Victoriana replied to bkgrandma's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think you could be stuck in the inflamation cycle. I would be sure to drink the water, and start with liquids for about 24 hrs, then progress to liquid mushies, warm mushies, not cold ones for about another day or two. Then begin with your protien meats taking small bites, baby spoon size, and chew like crazy. and then swallow. After each fill, I have had to do this because Im tempted to test the limit then Im stuck in that awfull cyclel where I have too much restriction all day then at night I open for some bad food, cookies, chips etc. You have to treat your band the way it wants to be treated, and your stomach will behave after it is trained. Please dont get discouraged, and go back in for surgery for a bypass untill you have truly exhausted your options with the band. I invested in a pressure cooker from qvc and It saved me for sure, the meat comes out moist and tender and band friendly, and the veggies are also soft. I love to start my day with coffee, and yep, left over meat with broth, warm and full of protien. The broth has lots of vitamines from the foods you cook in it from the pressure cooker too! I hope you have more sucess, this is such a kind way to loose weight, slow enough for your body to compress properly and fast enough to stay motivated when your adjustment is proper. Keep us posted ok? Best wishes! -
Weird, nasty Pain - Slippage?
Victoriana replied to libertysuzanne's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think you probably pulled on one of your internal stitches, I remember that sharp quick pain, But if you have any doubts at all please call your Dr. and nip that fear in the bud. Also, many bandsters have post op blues, the anesthesia brings it on when it clears your system. Also your possibly mourning the loss of an old friend, food! Your system will balance out and feel better soon, but call your Dr with all these questions, they are there for you! -
I have to drink a little slower and Im fine as long as its with an empty stomach. The guzzling thing will be your own learning curve. Some cant drink that fast. I would think that most cant. Whats the rush anyway, as long as you get your 64 oz a day, thats a lot to manage anyway! I wouldnt let that stop you from geting the band, Its a wonderfull thing to be able to loose weight.

I think a gift certificate from some place like Landsend is nice, they dont expire, you can send them from online, and she can use it on anything she wants or needs! I think they save time and money. Have fun and she will appreciate the thought of the gift more than the item, at least most moms do!

I am so glad you all are still here!
Victoriana replied to coyotegirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Terry, so glad your doing better, what a ride you had! Take care of your self! Hope your mom is better too. -
I didnt put anything on mine, I usually heal well, even after surgery. I have had scars from staples that eventually lighten and dissapear. The odd thing I found out that the stitches I got from my lapband caused colloidal scars, I must have been alergic to the stitches, as I have never had this before. It seems that the stitches used to close subdermal tissue is meant to dissolve. Thats what caused the problems for me. Vitamine E is ok as per my Dr. if the surface is cleared of scabs. He wanted the oxygen to get to my sores. Ask your Dr for his opinion though, they all have their own protical. Good Luck!

Terrilen, You might want to look at the nwwls website, stands for North West Weight Loss Surgery. Its www.nwwls.com and there is a great deal of info in their archives. There is someone there named Jessie Ahroni, she has a band and has lost her weight. She does fills there but her info is incomparable. That is where I get most of my information as that is where my Dr. is but I must say that there group meetings that are listed in the archives have helped me many times. Best wishes on your new venture. Keep looking forward, as looking backward makes as much sense as driving a car by looking in the rear view mirror! You are going to do better now with the right support! Send them an e-mail and perhaps they can mail you some info too!

OMG I am so Em BARASSED.... literally the last part...
Victoriana replied to Boo Boo Kitty's topic in Rants & Raves
Shine on, Shine on Harvest Moon! I think thats great! You cheered your team till, well, at least the guy behind you didnt sing the song, I See a Bad Moon Risen! I had no excuse once on a flight, I went to the powder room, forgot to lock the door, and I forgot to put a seat protector on the seat, so I turned around put a protector down and turned around just in time to see the door close and some guys hairy leg and a tennis shoe. O brother, I could not stop laughing, and to think it wasnt because of working hard to loose weight! Poor guy, I never saw that same shoe pass me on the way to the bathroom for the rest of the flight, I must have traumatized him so bad he just held it! At least you can be proud of your hard work! -
Did you see Oprah and her two Dr friends? I was so glued to my set! If I knew what they were discussing many years ago I dont think I would have taken my weight gain with such a cavalier attitude. I was moved to tears for my whole family. I have such a new found motivation to clean out my cabinets of all the junk and letting them hate me if they want to. I am strong enough in my love for them to make that stand. I know it is going to be a major process, but I wont be able to look myself in the mirror in a few years if I at least dont try. They are worth it. I am worth it. I need to get the book they just published. Im going online to her website to find out the name of it and will post it later. What a program. Wow Ok its called YOU:on a diet by Dr. Oz and Dr.Roizen and there is a program on Discovery Channel Nov.3 check for time in your area.
