  1. Don't be distressed! I had my band removed, hiatal hernia repair & VSG on same day. (I was lucky) I was banded 10 years ago. I lost 100 lbs- had similar issues to you and gained my weight back. I am now 10 weeks post op & have lost 55 lbs. There will be similar feelings to band but there is NO cheating. You can't loosen your band. Also- I truly don't feel hungry. There are some foods I still can't eat & weirdly some taste different. There is a different "sense" of full. You won't feel like food is stuck in your throat. A couple of times- I did feel that "dumping" syndrome. It is not an easy road but I am very happy the weight is coming off again and I feel so much better. Good luck on your journey!!!! Band to sleeve?

Hi Shawna, I was banded in Dec 2009 and lost 100 lbs. soon after is when my problems started. I had the vomiting, acid reflux, and several times in hospital due to dehydration. Your port issues are completely unique. I finally had my band loosened because we could never find a happy spot & my doctor kept blaming me & didn't believe what I was eating. Some of my complications were due to a hiatal hernia, severe esophagitis, and my gallbladder. Another doctor found these issues. I did gain back most of my weight but at least I could live my life. Exactly 3 weeks ago, I had my band removed and converted to VSG. The beginning stages have been very similar to the band. I will not say it is easy but I feel more confident. You don't feel food stuck in esophagus, I have had foamies a couple of times as I get used to how much I can eat. Surprisingly, your taste buds seem to change BUT my stomach doesn't growl, and I don't have physical hunger pains. I won't be able to cheat the sleeve like you could with the band. So far, I am happy. I wish you luck in your decision. I have a tone more weight to lose than you do, but even without the sleeve, I would have had my band removed.

    Post op complications

Gina- sending warm wishes to you from Florida.☀️ I am 3 weeks out & now have infection where they removed my drain. Praying there won't be complications. I hope you get the support you need! Luckily I had my gallbladder out last year. It was a quick and easy surgery & made me feel so much better. It helped relieve abdominal cramping and pain. I complain about paying deductibles but can't imagine how you have to cope with National health care. If we all send good thoughts and wishes hopefully you will get the help that you need! Just know- you are not alone. We all feel your pain. Keep the faith Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
