I remember when you told me this the first time I was experiencing a stall and I would just think "how can she expect me to "embrace" it!?". I am so thankful now because I only understood the meaning of it now that it's over. We panic so much but there is no need to. There is a lot your body is catching up with or preparing for in the background while you think the process has "stalled". It hasn't. It's working in the background. Just hang on there. Help! Need advice for sleeved family member
Lema replied to kimini's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Also, tell your mom to raid his junk stash and get rid of it. Maybe instead of him, she can do the meal preparation so even if he is snacking, he is not snacking on junk food or Cookies all day. Talk to your brother about not leaving behind a negative influence. My brothers have always been healthy and can also eat anything and not gain a single pound of weight. Our cultural family dynamics allows us all to live in joint families so I watch what they eat and no matter how much I would try, when I feel hungry, I go for what I find in the fridge or the pantry. Now that they know what i have gone through in order to make my health better, they don't offer me junk or leave it in the fridge. My point being, if I don't see it, I don't eat it.. Help! Need advice for sleeved family member
Lema replied to kimini's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Talk to him about his journey, ask him how much he has lost or how much he plans on losing. Find out what his goals are and make some plans about engaging in physical activities with him. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

I THOUGHT I was sleeved...
Lema replied to leebick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't get pissed easily but in this case, I would be majorly pissed. Why should you have to pay?? Where did you get your surgery?? Make it seem like you will be majorly pissed so they are apologetic and willing to pay for some if not all of the corrective procedure. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Collar Bones-- When did you start to notice them
Lema replied to Candygyrl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
3 months. It was the strangest feeling ever! I didn't even know what those were.. Now sometimes my hands go there and touch them while I am not even thinking and it makes me smile.. I have collar bones!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
They make you go on that diet so you can lose some weight and shrink your liver before the surgery. However, you are supposed to strictly follow that duet 24 hours prior to surgery so there isn't food particles in your stomach while they are performing the surgery. Random Thought/Question
Lema replied to GetBack_095's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I didn't loss any weight in over two weeks and out of curiosity, I went on a three day protein/liquid diet and to my surprise, I survived just fine with minimal hunger pangs, lost 3 pounds and I think my capacity for food intake has reduced to what it used to be in the first 3rd week. Very interesting.. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Are there any good recipe books for us that I could purchase online?? I want simple recipes since most of what we eat at home are middle eastern food.. I can't track calories or anything without losing my head and giving up the idea of eating. I don't know how to make western food and am always paranoid. I am living on tuna wraps and vegetable Soups that are starting to taste pretty nasty.. Help please.. I will get carried away and end up overwhelmed on the net. I need a physical book to pull out recipes from. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Random Thought/Question
Lema replied to GetBack_095's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I opened a can of Canada Dry and my little brother heard it downstairs. He came up running upstairs to snatch it out of my hand. "No way"... Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
OMG -- the week before I started my six-month pre-op diet, I had to have one of my colleagues tie my shoes at the Norfolk airport. My shoes made the alarm go off in the Pre-Check line and I had to take them off, and they were tied too tight to slip back into. With my dress clothes on, I just couldn't do it. Talk about hitting rock bottom. (Although Jenn was so sweet about it and has been nothing but supportive throughout this entire thing...)My sister had to do that for me after the surgery since I couldn't bend that much.. Nothing made me feel as vulnerable and helpless as having someone else tie my shoe laces for me.. Not a fun experience.. But never again! High five!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

That's where I would look for it normally but I have adhd and if I end up looking for ideas there, God knows where I will end up. I will probably search up a healthy cookbook in general and pick my way through that. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Okay.. Clears throat** Back in the days, when I would bend down to tie my shoelaces, I would have to sit up and catch my breath before finishing one shoe because I had a huge belly.. 3 months later, I don't have this problem to deal with and it honestly feels great! Surgery without telling anyone?
Lema replied to lynnedilligaf's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
The only reason I would tell someone at work or school is if I could tell that they needed encouragement to go through the process themselves. Other than two friends who I know can keep the secret, everyone else can kiss my tiny tush. I don't owe anyone an explanation. "I am following a strict diet plan with the help of a nutritionist" is all they are getting out of me. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I haven't had a full body picture of me taken in in 8 years. I am 143lbs and still horrified by the idea of it. People say I am shrinking but I feel like I have to hide behind others when it comes to having pictures taken of me. We self discriminate so much! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

off topic but.....where, what were you doing september 11, 2001?
Lema replied to ProudGrammy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Afghanistan. All I knew was that we were going to be invaded by the Americans. No one told us why.. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
It's normal. When I get sick, I work it off. I don't lay in the bed and rest. So naturally, when I had no choice but to lay in bed for that many days with someone doing the smallest things for me, I felt vulnerable. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

What to bring to the hospital!
Lema replied to viri87's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was so excited, I brought fancy assed bras and underwear but only one freaking pair of pjs. Do yourself a favour and bring lots of comfortable cloths. Don't even bother with reading material. You will be catching up on your years worth of sleep. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Abdomen full of CO2, gas or surgical site pain
Lema replied to Aviobell's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was miserable and in pain but I couldn't get myself to walk because I was miserable and in pain. It's tough to walk while you are nauseated but the more you walk, the better you will feel. Walk or sit up straight. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
My dear, sardine will still be here in three weeks from now. If you hurt yourself, imagine the pain and money that piece of sardine will cost you. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Diabetes and Low Sugars on Liquid Diet
Lema replied to busybeebug's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You know how they tell you to drop juices?? I had to have some juice because I needed the sugar. Dilute your juices so that way you get some sugar and are well hydrated while you are at it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
From working like a nut job to laying on my tush for 8 weeks and watching tv, I nearly went crazy. I think I would have lost whole lot more if I had returned to work earlier but I needed the break for my emotional well being. Spend time with your family or refer to your reading list. How to break the habit of eating and drinking
Lema replied to JayVSG's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have to carry a Water bottle to measure how much I am drinking in a day. I "forget" my water bottle wherever I make my meal and go to get it after I am finished eating. At work, I leave at my desk and at home, inside the fridge until the meal is over. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
