  1. I saw too many people talking about complications and weight gain many years later after the bypass so I made sure to choose the sleeve instead. I only had 60-65 impossible to lose pounds to drop and I don't regret my decision. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Feeling defeated.

Make it clear that once you have made your decision, you won't change your mind. So they don't feel like they have a chance to convince you and they give up with their attempts. My mother is like that with anything that I choose to do in life. She will either tell me I am making a bad decision or try to scare me off. I am almost 30. When I stopped changing my mind after her interventions, she gave up with her attempts. Whether you are making a good or bad decision in life, once you have made it, stick to it. Others have to respect that. It's your life and your decision. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Has anyone cheated ?

That's called dogh which is Persian for buttermilk. The buttermilk you get from the dairy section at Safeway or super sore gets diluted with Water and then it's served. Our version is a little more sour than the ones you get from the stores. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Has anyone cheated ?

I had yogurt 4 days after the surgery. No chunks and one little cup would last me an entire day. You put it on your tongue and let it melt. I could not have broth and it was either that or nothing. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. The easiest way to get Water while you are that early out of surgery is by taking ice chips. Just make sure you don't swallow it accidentally. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  6. I had bought a bunch of winter coats that at the time would not fit me which I dreamt of fitting in to one day. 4 months later, they are hanging on me and my body is lost in it. I clearly have more to lose but now I have all this brand new expensive stuff that I am either going to have to give away or put away for when and if I get pregnant someday. Don't buy cloths until you lose weight unless it's absolutely necessary. You are going to need that money to replace the wardrobe you will be replacing in a couple of months. 7. What are you going to have Peanut Butter with?? You can't have bread and eating it all by it's self is clearly not worth it. At three months out I had some with apple slices but I stopped craving for it and dropped that habit too. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  8. I keep my phone in my pocket through out the day and I have downloaded an app that counts my steps. If I am reaching a goal of 10,000 steps a day, how active would you say I am?? Also, how good or guilty should I feel about getting this much exercise only through out a day, assuming I did not eat anything unhealthy?? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  9. Mine was a month later and my siblings took turns to buy me a month's supply of frozen fruit for my Protein shakes. We are a family of 7 and 5 birthdays come in one month. We have had to get creative with ideas such as the one porkchopexpress has suggested. I also don't see why you can't cut a cake and let them have it. Don't let cake scare you. You are stronger than cake. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  10. The nausea immediately after surgery and those two times my stomach had me rolling on the floor from pain two months after surgery. One time I had a slice of pizza (it took me two hours to finish it) and the second time, I ate apples with the peel on. I forgot to peel it like every other time. I have written NEVER AGAIN on my whiteboard. I will never forget that pain. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Hair loss

Don't use light bedsheets if possible. It's falling and there is nothing I can do about it besides drinking my protein and taking my vitamins.. I will just ignore it until comes back and not being reminded every morning of the stands on my pillow case is less stressful than otherwise. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Food scale

Your eyes should be the scale. Use your judgement and communicate with your body. I borrowed my friend's scale for three days and tossed away. Too much work after I figured what four ounces looked like in a plate. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Indian?

My first nasty experience after surgery was with nan and chicken. Nan is too chewy and elasticky and I was only a month out. I don't know what I was thinking. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I am from Canada but I did my surgery at Mexico because my bmi was low but my health issues were too many on top of the pcos. I will eat one meal the normal stuff of what everyone else eats unless it's rice or something very unhealthy. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Indian?

I am going to India in 3 months.. last time I was there, it was me, biryani and a one litre of Water every day at lunch time. I don't know how I will manage this time.. I am taking my scale with me. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  16. Are you keeping it on a flat surface?? I used to put it on the kitchen floor which has tiles or carpet in the bedroom on and it would give me some very whacky numbers. Now I put it on hardwood floor and it stays consistent. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Indian?

I am sorry but I have been outside all day today so I didn't get a chance to see the message. I ate a small amount of basmati rice two months out. It filled me very quickly but as expected, I was hungry shortly after. I have also lost my appetite for rice. I don't like it and I don't miss it. Isn't it such a challenge to track calories with our dishes?? There are a gazillion things that we put in one dish. It's scary and leaves us with very limited options on the menu. Without rice or roti, there is nothing we can have for a meal. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Indian?

I started eating dal regularly after week 4 because even though it's pureed and a good source of Protein, it gives you gas. I did have a spoonful every once in a while during the puréed phase to get the taste of it and it did not make me sick. Roti is something that I stay away from even now because I am still in the weight loss process and that is our bread which is a no no. Roti/bread is something that we will have to eliminate to once or even less than that in a day type of thing in the long run. As in, eat less than once per day in comparison to with every meal the way we normally do. I was okay with spices after week two but afghans don't use the amount of spices that Indians do. Why don't you put a little bit spice, try a spoonful and see how your stomach reacts?? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  20. There is a cherry pie upstairs on the shelf.. I have been trying to ignore it since afternoon.. it's 1 am and I don't think I will be able to sleep unless I have a bite or two.. a slice of it is apparently 390 calories.. half a slice would be almost 200 calories.. I could cry just now.. damn you ovulation.. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  21. I m like that too. If I try to ignore the cravings, it will get worse and all I think about is ice cream but if I have a spoonful of ice cream when I want it, I can stop there. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Period question ?

Your body is stressed. When I am stressed, that happens to me. My last one was 8 days and so heavy that I had to stay home from work and in bed because of it. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  23. A jacket is a necessity and you can get away with it being a little larger too. I didn't buy any cloths except for some scrubs for work until I was halfway to my goal weight. I bought them a little small and I am sure I will fit in them fine in a month or so. I will do my personal shopping either on or after Boxing Day. It's goodwill until then. But then.. I don't work in an office so I don't know if I would have gotten away with shopping at goodwill if I were expected to dress up for work. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
