Words can hurt a lot. It should not get to the point where you are shoved around or called names. It's also hurtful for a person to be told that they were unwanted or abandoned by their parents. They confide those vulnerabilities to us in hopes of us being there for them when they need us, not to use it against them. Could you not go to bed without him or did you need him to drive you home?? I had that problem. Two pairs of socks, two blankets and still shivering. Went for my routine blood check and Surprise.. Iron deficiency. I have to take a pill three times a day and the doctor says, I will be good as new in no time. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Stupid things people say when they find out you've had surgery....

Materna Multivitamin. I take one in the morning and one at night. I have tons of baby hair growing in my head and I don't have to take any other Vitamin supplement. Gone are the days I was constantly chewing on Biotin, Calcium or multivitamin gummies. My tongue would feel raw from all those gummies. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I wish you were closer to me. I would take care of you! But yeah, you should just hire someone. It's during this vulnerable time when we start questioning the presence of certain people in our lives. Don't worry, after this, things will change for the best. Our best wishes and prayers are with you. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

How has the sleeve affected your health?
Lema replied to Broove's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is a very small thing but I can't help and grin every time I realize it. Back in the days, I would cross my legs whenever I sat and within 3 minutes, one of the legs would be numb. That doesn't happen now. It's so much easier now. I can be in that position for half an hour and mange just fine. I am so excited for my 14 hour flights now. I wonder how it feels to sit in those seats with a tiny tush. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I know that taking Protein and in a high dose is very important and crucial to the first few months of a weight loss process but, how long until we reduce that 90g a day limit?? I am 5'2 and I have lost lots of weight, should I still be consuming 90 grams of protein every day?? Has anyone else dropped that idea down the line or is this going to be a permanent thing?? Did you not like your food?
Lema replied to AllyInDallas's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Pack it. No one is offended, you save yourself your money and you have a nice snack/meal for later on during the day. But yeah, no point of ordering big when you go to eat out after surgery. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Questions About Gastric Sleeve Surgery
Lema replied to Hiraeth's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have pcos and I hadn't had a period in over a year prior to the surgery. I have had a period for every single month since the surgery. I used to eat out of boredom and I just replaced junk food with apple slices (1 month after surgery) and green tea with raisins and dates (6 months in to surgery). When you get in to the habit of limiting your sugar intake, carbonated drinks end up grossing you out because of how overly sweet they taste after a while. You stick with being grossed out by that feeling and you will be over soft drinks in no time. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

Typical goal weight for a 5'2 female..
Lema replied to Lema's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow. I am so glad I opened this thread because I am 5'2 and 134 pounds. I havnt lost any weight this month and was freaking out like hell, thinking this is it. The weight that I am at is a goal weight for a lot of you who are of my height which is very very comforting. I would like to lose a little more of the softness from here and there but I won't be losing any sleep over it from now on. Thank you all. Best of luck to us all. I love shopping now. Never did before!
Lema replied to The New Kel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would be so excited and then the energy level would drop within 15 minutes of being in the first shop. You pick 5-6 outfits that you hate but hope you fit in since they are the only large sized items left of the rack and you still don't fit in them.. not a single one of them. How has the sleeve affected your health?
Lema replied to Broove's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am not huffing and puffing every three minutes. I have gone from not having a period over a year to getting it every single month since I got the surgery done and my periodontal disease is gone. I will have more news when I review the blood test I went for today, with my doctor. Oh! And no migraines or cluster headaches! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

I paid for my surgery myself and did not have too large of a bmi. It was bad but not as bad as it could be so I too am guilty of going through that phase. I wasn't required to lose weight or go on a diet until 2 days before my surgery. I had 4 week long "food funeral". You don't want to give yourself a heart attack a month before your surgery so be careful.. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

What did you replace food with?
Lema replied to SlimJill's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Green tea. I used to enjoy green tea with chocolates before too so now I just have it with dry dates or raisins. It takes care of the sweet tooth as well as the Fiber intake situation.. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Going to India 9 weeks out. Snacks to pack?
Lema replied to show1980's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am going to India in 8 weeks but I will be 9 months out. Take your Protein powder and bars. It will be hot in there so make sure you stay hydrated and don't worry about the food being too spicy. You can always get chicken that is not cooked in curry which will not be too spicy. You can also dilute their lentil Soups and have that if you get tired of chicken. Stay away from bread and rice because there will be a lot of that. I can tolerate spicy food very well but that's because I have been having spicy food since I was born. If I were in your place and I had no other choice, I would rely on my Protein shakes and fruits with very little bit of their food to take care of the sodium needs.
