Is it okay to have a last hoorah?
Lema replied to d0minicanmama1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your stomach needs to be free of food particles before they get in there. And if you aren't able to have a bowl movement, having a full stomach or intestines will increase your chances of getting a bowl obstruction or walking around, feeling constipated and uncomfortable on top of having your stomach pumped with gas and surgery pain. Don't do that to yourself. (Whoever is in a similar situation as her/him.) English is my 6th language so forgive me if my sentences don't make any sense at times! -
Which Question or Suggestion Are You Sick of Hearing?
Lema replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
"Stop shoving unnatural stuff down your throat (protein supplements), why are you eating (a scoop of ice cream in my sugar free Protein shake). Are you pleased with yourself now that you have purposely had holes poked in you?? You are going to become anorexic. Good luck fixing that problem. Stop experimenting with your body, you will not be able to conceive..." Thanks mom.. So much positivity.. English is my 6th language so forgive me if my sentences don't make any sense at times! -
Exercise?! When can we..
Lema replied to curlysue86's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went to the gym after two weeks since i wasn't working and getting bored of laying around the house. After mentioning it to my doctor, he suggested I only go for walks until at least four weeks. It has been four weeks now so I will start getting back to that slowly.. English is my 6th language so forgive me if my sentences don't make any sense at times! -
8+ week post and vomiting slime almost daily

That happened to me the first time I ate beef after the surgery. It had been 2.5 weeks and I know the texture of the meat was too dry. It was an awful feeling and it hasn't happened since then. I understood it as my stomach telling me it wasn't ready for the food I was eating at the time.. English is my 6th language so forgive me if my sentences don't make any sense at times! -
Can someone give me a list of ALL the vitimins and minerals I need?
Lema replied to venomousflowers's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I went to my doctor and he suggested I take Biotin, Vitamin d and a multivitamin. My immune system was pretty down so I added high dose Vitamin C too. I take the vitamin c separately with biotin. All of them are in gummy form with the exception of materna.. English is my 6th language so forgive me if my sentences don't make any sense at times! -

How many incisions did you end up with?
Lema replied to pewpewpewpew's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had 4 incisions only. That glue is so annoying! I had the nasty residue on my belly for 3 weeks and no amount of shower gel or baby oil would get rid of it. I used gauze and some hydrogen peroxide on one of the spots that had gotten wet the day earlier while I was doing the dishes and then tried to remove the residue beside that spot with the same cloth. It got rid of the residue! So I used more hydrogen peroxide on more clean gauze and I was able to get rid of all that residue in less than 5 minutes. I don't know whether it was the gauze or the peroxide that got rid of it but it was a relief. English is my 6th language so forgive me if my sentences don't make any sense at times! -
Hungry feeling all the time!
Lema replied to Lillyanna's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have noticed that my hunger increases after I take my Vitamin supplements. Also, if I don't eat something high in Protein, I am hungry more often. English is my 6th language so forgive me if my sentences don't make any sense at times! -
"My clumsiest dear, whose hands shipwreck vases, At whose quick touch all glasses chip and ring, Whose palms are bulls in china, burs in linen, And have no cunning with any soft thing Except all ill-at-ease fidgeting people: The refugee uncertain at the door You make at home; deftly you steady The drunk clambering on his undulant floor. Unpredictable dear, the taxi drivers’ terror, Shrinking from far headlights pale as a dime Yet leaping before apopleptic streetcars— Misfit in any space. And never on time. A wrench in clocks and the solar system. Only With words and people and love you move at ease; In traffic of wit expertly maneuver And keep us, all devotion, at your knees. Forgetting your coffee spreading on our flannel, Your lipstick grinning on our coat, So gaily in love’s unbreakable heaven Our souls on glory of spilt bourbon float. Be with me, darling, early and late. Smash glasses— I will study wry music for your sake. For should your hands drop white and empty All the toys of the world would break." I use boost for diabetics. It has barely any sugar, 16 grams of Protein and chocolate flavour. Very useful for when you are in a hurry in the mornings since I am used to skipping breakfast..For my shakes, I use a spoonful of frozen yogurt with milk and some frozen fruit. Is anyone suffering from this condition?? I have had my surgery a month ago and have lost 17 pounds since then. Prior to the surgery, I had managed to lose 3 pounds at the most only. Last year I started developing Acanthosis nigricans where the high levels of insulin in my system was causing the skin colour to turn darker and and itchy in all the weird spots. Around my neck, under my armpits and between my inner thighs. The itchiness went away but the darkness is still there. My overall skin tone went a couple shades darker too as if I have had a tan or something. I am wondering if anyone has experienced this and has any idea of as to when it will disappear.. How much weight do I have to lose before the insulin resistance reversal will kick in and or this horrible effect will go away.. Any ideas?? I am hoping to get married next year. I would like an idea of what I can expect myself to look like by then.. Thanks all. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
