That is the worst part. There is not much left of the Doritos at that point, you might as well eat the rest of it too. Wouldn't it be if we all lived in a camp where we could smack junk off of each other's hands every time someone gave in to a craving?? "No! You are not doing that to yourself. You just earned yourself three laps, missy" Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Does anyone even bother with salads anymore?
Lema replied to justhere4theshow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love salads but I try not to have salads too often since there is no Protein and protein is a priority. I get salads when I eat out or when I want a break from vegetable soup/chicken. I substitute spinach for lettuce and skip the dressing. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
The mighty scale
Lema replied to highfunctioningfatman's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Every single day, first thing in the morning. I lose one or two pounds in a week and I know that's damn slow but I don't care. When I see that number declining on the scale, I feel like .. I don't know.. I feel amazing. It motivates me and I love it. As others mentioned, I need to know that I am not gaining. If it stays the same or reduces slowly, that's alright. For those who had surgery in Mexico...
Lema replied to Corinnacs's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I took my little sister with me but I saw many women who were there all by themselves. If I had to, I could put a bra on all by myself but I had my sister help me and carry my bag for me. It is doable by yourself from my point of view. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
How do you feel after? Are you hungry? Does food mess w/ your head?
Lema replied to marrse's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used to snack on one thing and then still be hungry and eat something else.. Still be hungry and feel guilty and helpless at the same time. Now I snack on some cucumbers, an apple or carrots and actually feel satisfied. Sometimes I feel like crying over how many years I have tortured myself with guilt or starved myself out of guilt. Have you ever drank while you ate? 1+ year post-op
Lema replied to AchieveGoals's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It doesn't hurt but you feel full too soon and if you push it, you could be stretching it. Unless by hurt you mean the pain one feels when they overeat. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Next time you are cooking for others, make yourself something fun and healthy too. That way you are distracted and not feeling deprived or tempted to eat what you cooked for others. I know we are not supposed to but I sneak Protein shakes to the movies. Put some extra effort to make yourself a kind you don't usually make so you are excited for your own drink while others munch on their popcorn. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Dip your fruit chunks in it before eating them. If you mix it in your salad, it may not look too great or end up clumpy like you said. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

I bet you can do this with most other fruits too. What a genius idea! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

It has been 9 days only and you were able to drink Water, have your chicken with potatoes as well as some yogurt?? I am scared for you a little. I am three months out and I still have to wait an hour before I move on to the second part of an item in my already portioned meal. Maybe I am very paranoid about stretching it.. Wow! You look too young to have a grand daughter her age. We always want what we don't have. I have super straight hair and I have always wanted wavy hair. It's good to see a woman embracing what she already has. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Random Thought/Question

I throw that nasty stuff in the garbage. Cottage cheese disgust me for some reason. Hurl factor is high just thinking about it. There was a thread awhile back asking people about their favorite way to have cottage cheese and my answer was absolutely in the trash can. I took a beating for it, too. WHOOOOOOPS! I would say I agree with you, but I'm scart. I added it to my shake once. I can't even eat it plain anymore. So so disgusting. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Random Thought/Question
Lema replied to GetBack_095's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too have tolerated everything I have eaten after the first month. Sugar, ice cream, chocolates and all.. I just don't eat it the way I used to. Thank God I hate pizza or anything cheesy. Today I filled my lunchbox with some rice, thinking I will eat a bit of it for lunch at work along with the chicken breast. I turned around and dumped it back in the pot and sliced some cucumbers for myself. I can totally live without rice and have no desire for it so why should I stuff my face with it?? I tried two sips of 7 up the other day and I could feel the bubbles in my stomach.. I used to drink a 591 ml within an hour.. Imagine the damage that must have done over the years.. Can't you get it permenantly straightened?? I have a 5 year old cousin who has lots and lots of hair. It was too curly and difficult to manage at her age so her mother had it professionally straightened and now it's thick but straight. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

What is a fun way of eating cottage cheese?? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
My hair has become very thin and straight ever since I started gaining weight. Now it's shedding even more. I would kill to have thick dark hair like my mother or sister.. [emoji17]

So it has begun.. My hairbrush and pillow case is full of it. I knew it was coming and understand that protein and biotin is the key to some level of success but I am very very scared. I don't want to be a bald bride..[emoji20] So do garlic pills have any benefits for those of us in this situation?? And any side effects??

Why don't you choose three things that you really really really want to eat before you start this journey, eat that in a day and start eating healthy the next morning?? Or, you can get very little of everything, have your picnic and start eating healthy next day. It's not that you will never be allowed to eat this stuff again. You will but in moderation. The food will still be here in future once you have healed. You will not want it as badly which makes it very very easy to resist the cravings. You don't have to have a food funeral.

No offence but if you are this easily influenced by the choices that others make about their own lives, you should stop stepping outside of your house. There are fast food restaurants and people who could be eating something that your doctor would not allow you to have.. Imagine the horror.. Let's be nice to each other. At the end of the day, it's a personal choice.

Constipation... Sorry for tmi
Lema replied to judy vsg's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A spoonful of castor oil will help you within one or two hours. You are not meant to use it more than once or twice in a week though. It tastes nasty so mix it with a small amount of juice and stir it before you drink it. I can and I will. -
I would assume it depends on how one's drinking habits are. A quarter glass of anything alcoholic does the trick for me. I like the buzz, I don't want to be drunk beyond that. I am going to try that tonight.. I can and I will.

sugar free apple sauce added to diluted Water. I lived on one cup of activia yogurt for days that first week after surgery. I would eat a tiny spoonful and then be exhausted. I can and I will.

The dreaded first stall...
Lema replied to NovRain's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The first stall lasted 5 weeks. I was beyond frustrated even though everyone in here suggested I be patient. The second one lasted a week and because my blender broke and I stopped taking my Protein. Three days after I started taking my protein again, I started losing again. I can and I will. -
Boil vegetables and put them in a blender. Sprinkle lemon juice and black pepper on it and try that for your meals. I used to do that with cauliflower and it came off delicious. I can and I will.

Random Thought/Question
Lema replied to GetBack_095's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I ate meat and bread at the end of my second week. The results were instant. Chocking, feeling nauseated and throwing up slime.. I did not dare touch anything until I was supposed to after that. I am greatful for that unpleasant incident because it reminds you to stay on track. My insurance did not pay for this surgery so I keep reminding myself that I paid that money to get healthy. I do not need to behave irresponsible now. I can and I will.
