my doctor told me to do warm liquids for 4 days..that sounds ridiculous!! However..I have found that if I drink warm liquids prior to eating it helps..but I am still vomiting..from my esophagus to clear the food that is stuck..what to do???

Whats Up with the Shoulder Pain??

Hey..congrats!! The shoulder pain is most likely due to the CO2 that is left in the abdomen from surgery, which in turn causes gas..some experience it only for 1 day..some a few days to a week..sooo.it's just gas hunny..no worries...walking is the best relief of gas..also I have heard if you do the "doward dog" its a yoga thing..or you could get on all fours and rock back and forth!!! It works!!! Good luck!!
  8. They actually encourage you to loose weight!! So don't sweat it!!!

my hair is really thinning out

OH...one more thing....don't wash your hair every day..do like every other day..it preserves the natural oils in your hair!

my hair is really thinning out

I have REALLY thin hair as well..Instead of taking like a Centrum vitamin..I take a Prenatal vitamin that I get at Walmart..my surgeon says it's OK as long as I am taking a vitmain..and Prenatal Vitamins are really good for you hair and nails..also get some Nioxin shampoo and conditioner and make sure your get your protein in..all of those things have made my hair MUCH thicker and healthier!!! Hope this helps you..let me know!!!

    4 days post op

CONGRATS!!! I was banded Feb 11..your swelling will start to go down around 1 week..atleast it was that way for me..I started to feel hungry after a week and a half..my surgeon told me I could progress to the soft foods..like eggs..fish..oatmeal..etc....you can drink your fluids like you would regulary to if tolerated..but they say NO STRAWS!! I have been downing fluids with no problem..but REALLY being filled up quickly when I eat...you see..fluids just slip right thru..so they have no restirction..if you start to feel increasing hunger..talk to your surgeon..like I did and he/she ,may recommend to advance to the soft foods help you feel fuller...soo I know that I have babbled long enough and went overboard with my answer...!!!!! GOOD LUCK!!!

    Excited & Scared

I say go for it!!! I did the surgery on Feb 11 and I feel great..the surgery really isn't that bad..I was actually up doing house work 2 days after and I have an eight month old at home!!! I am back to work a week after surgery! I am spreading the word about the gas....TELL YOUR SURGEON AND ANESTHESOLOGIST TO REMOVE ALL OF THE CO2!!!! They CAN do that..they did it for me and I had NO gas pains!!!! The lap band is MUCH safer than the bypass and it works!!! GOOD LUCK!!
  13. Hi everyone...I was just banded on Feb 11..doing great. I've lost 13lbs so far. But I am unsure of what exactly I should be eating. I was happy for the first week because my appetite was REALLY supressed, but now I am finding that I am getting more and more hungry.(hence the swelling is going down!!) I am still eating a full liquid diet..creamed Soups..low fat low salt, etc...drinking my fluids...having 2 Protein shakes a day. I am really sticking to the diet they recommend..but it's hard!! This site is new to me and I'm not that tech savy. Any suggestions or comments? Thanks!! Melissa

    Just banded on Feb 11

I saw my surgeon today and he said that I can move to soft foods like fish, eggs, cottage cheese, etc....I bought some cottage cheese and took 4 small spoonfulls and was full!! THANK GOD!! He explained to me that the liquids won't fill me up anymore since my swelling has gone down and that adding these "heavier" foods should do the trick..so tonight I am having a small piece of cat fish broiled with lemon!! YUMMY!!!! Thank you everyone for your comments...this is a sweet web site!!!
