mushie food struggles
fatgirlsvelte replied to Chez2812's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Oooo. That sounds good! I wonder if perhaps as the healing progresses, if you could finely chop celery/pickles into it too, or even boiled eg for a bit more Protein. Fantastic! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
Co-worker keeps trying to feed me.
fatgirlsvelte replied to SilentBotts's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My coworkers are TERRIBLE food pushers. They will bring sweets to my desk and hold it in my face with sweet and kind faces (we have the world famous Donut Bar across the street)—and when I gently put up my hand and say "no thank you," you'd think I broke their heart. Hi there, Kaiser (SoCal) has a mandatory 24-week Healthy Options program pre-surgery where they teach you about the lifestyle from A-Z, and in that time frame, expect you to lose some weight. My Bariatric team specifically said that the 10% rule is out the window; and that Kaiser no longer requires that a medically supervised diet is followed. I am doing the full-food program since I already use a full-nutrition supplement 1-2 per day, and am adjusted to a partial liquid lifestyle. Currently losing about 1.5 pounds per week on my own, which puts me almost exactly at 10% total weight loss before my operation in late-December/mid-January. As I receive info, I'll post in the forums! Knowledge is power. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Bless, this was wonderful to read... The fam has been pushing hard saying that 170-180 will be small enough, and if that's the case I certainly won't push it. This is for a lifetime of health, definitely not for the numbers on the scale. In the beginning it is important...but all bodies are unique. I'm 5'9" (almost 5'10", the nurses fussed about the 3/4 of an inch). My mum was 6'3"; dad was quite short, but I've definitely inherited her muscle building biology and broad shoulders. How tall are you? How long have you been post-op? Thank you for the inspiration! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -

That's incredible, congrats on the surgery! I wear anywhere from a 24-30 now. Torrid stuff basically a size 26 (4) but I've not purchased clothes there for quite sometime. This top is a Talbots 3x, the jeans are Torrid size 4 (26-28). I find my best luck on ASOS curve and plus section, they always are generously cut and ludicrously stylish (as well as inexpensive!). Told A Co-Worker
fatgirlsvelte replied to kittykatlover's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have told two people at work—and have requested absolute privacy which they have honored. Should it get around though, I know comments like this will come out. Don't defend. This is a TOUGH decision we make, and if someone says "they could do it," then they need to follow through. Reactions like that are a mirror of their own trepidation. Rock on lady. Yes ma'am, took it this morning here at work! The activity has a lot to do with my body composition; actually may not reach my goal weight according to the doc because of my muscle tone—running 5ks daily hauling around 300+ pounds really builds up the legs Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Yes ma'am, took it this morning here at work! So inspiring 02B, seriously. Thank you thank you. The doom and gloom is always broken up by sunshine and hope, no? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App -
I'm at the Kaiser SoCal group... all of San Diego. What have the psych appointments been like? I have diagnosed Bipolar II and BED, but the surgeon didn't seem to be concerned since I'm well into maintenance mode and on a very low dose of the meds. One of my anxieties has been getting through the program only to be rejected by the psychologist, but I've read in medical papers that upwards of 3/4 Bariatric patients have been diagnosed with BED and there is a! 82% depression/anxiety underling psychological case issue. I think I was approved to move forward because I got all of this under control? Any insider information would be greatly appreciated. ❤️ Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Thank you for the add! Haven't even thought of Tumblr—it would be good to diversify the feed. IG has been incredibly informative from a visual standpoint over what to expect skin-wise et al. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App Hey! Which Kaiser are you going through? I am going through Richmond Ca Kaiser, they have been great so far. I am on my 2nd psych appt, so any questions, maybe we can talk! Thank YOU for sharing this! My pre-op leader said she's never had anyone come back to talk to classes more than 3+ years out due to fail rates... This is inspiring! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
