Hi everyone! Although Ive been on the boards for a few months (mostly getting information) I never formally introduced myself. I am a 35yo, SAHM to 3 boys. They are 7, 5 and 3. The decision for me to even consider the lapband was a HUGE one. Ive been considering it for 2 years! Once I started the process in January, it went really quick. I was banded on 3/31. It could have been sooner, but my dh is in the military, and was on deployment. I wanted to wait until he got home. SO, he's been home the past week, taking care of me & our 3 boys. I have been walking every day for 30 minutes, and following the Stage 3 Diet. Low, and behold, 20 pounds EXACTLY this morning! I realize not every week will be this great, so Ill GLOAT while I can  This site is awesome! If anyone has any questions for me, Id be mor ethan happy to answer them! In Health!

Totally freaked out now!!!
mom2bbb replied to sylhaven's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon, who is one of the top Bariactric Surgeons in the country, told me that people in Europe and Australia have had their bands for 20+ years with no problems. It hasnt been approved by the FDA all that long here, in the US. I had asked him about "long term". Id be curious to see if there any 10+ year bandsters on here! -
Should I expect this???????
mom2bbb replied to Kate228's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Ive talked to ALOT of people who are years out from the band, and havent come across ONE that says what youre neighbor is saying. I think that alot of your sucess depends on your knowledge of how the band works. It sounds like something isnt working properly for her. -
Hi. I was banded 6 days ago. I just checked my doctors list of reasons to call in. One of them is centralized pain. Im not sure if youre supposed to be able to feel you port or not. I cant feel mine. I would CALL asap, just to make sure. Let us know how it turns out.

I was banded on 3/31. I have lost 16 pounds since Monday! I am eating: (I just looked up the carb contents for you) Sugar Free Popsicles (Edys Fruit Bars are delicious, 8 gms carbs) Slim Fast High Protein shakes (24 gms carbs) G2 (Gatorade drink) (7 gms carbs per serving) and, the stuff you are, except fo the Carnation Instant Breakfast. Are you feeling any better?

New band comes with a fill?
mom2bbb replied to mandilou's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is an interesting question. Im really not SURE if my band has any fill in it. I feel like a fool for not knowing. I can only assume that its empty, because this is what my surgeons office does, is put them in empty. I was banded on 3/31. -
Welcome to the Group! I was banded this past Monday 3/31 at Beth Israel in Boston. Im doing pretty good!

March Bandsters - Mini Goals & Rewards?
mom2bbb replied to whimsy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
my short term goal, is to walk for 30 minutes EVERY day in the month of April. I was banded on 3/31, and have walked for 30 minutes every day since. I had my husband take me to the mall today so we could walk, because its pouring rain out! My reward will be a spa manicure & pedicure! I love this thread! -
Erik in AZ - Newly Banded - Introduction
mom2bbb replied to ErikMesa's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi there. I was banded the same day as you. My BMI was also over 50. Do you know which size band you got? I am feeling okay, not great. Trying to rest is hard to do with 3 small kids! -

One day out and going strong!
mom2bbb replied to aladdinwy3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on 3/31. I am very tired and sore and gassy, now that I am home. I felt great in the hospital, but Im sure that was from the meds they had me hooked up to. Take it easy, and remember to rest! -
Hi ladies! I havent been on here in awhile. Now that the surgery is tomorrow, I figured Id pop in and say hello. My surgery is at 10:30 am tomorrow in Boston. I am excited, but nervous! I just had my last "food" at 7pm, which was a Meal Replacement bar. I can drink liquids until midnight, then, THATS IT! Best of Wishes to everyone! :scared2:

I want to know the PHYSICAL risks associated with lapband surgery, if you have a problem with alcohol? Is there anything to be concerned about, if all of your bloodwork is normal?

let me see if this worked

Negative people with negative feelings
mom2bbb replied to eigna's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am so sorry that your friend doenst understand what you are going through. It *is* hard. BIG HUGS to you! About a year ago, I had mentioned that I was *thinking* of WLS. The negative reaction I got from people (mainly my mother) was overwhelming. I was told, Im too young, Im not fat enough, its risky, blah blah blah  I have worked SO hard to come to the decision to go ahead with the surgery. I decided *not* to tell people (except for my wonderful husband) that I am getting the surgery. I had concerns about this, and talked to the psychologist that I saw. She said it was fine, as long as I *do* have people to talk to my feelings about. So, that would be my husband, and this board! to negative people with negative feelings! -
Oh, I also wanted to add, that I am getting my hiatal hernia fixed that same day, and am required to stay a minimum of one night in the hospital!

Hi ladies. This is pretty cool. And all of us are within 9 years of one another in age. We can really be good motivation for one another! To answer your question Kathy, I am very scared and nervous, but excited. I am the complete opposite of you. I am AFRAID of the operation (waking up, complications, etc) but, not, of the afterwards. I CANT wait to start on my new journey. I have been walking daily for 35 minutes. I have also changed my eating habits to HEALTHY only. Ive been doing this for 2 weeks. Next Sunday, i will start my 2 week pre-op diet, which consists of 2 Meal Replacements per day, and one meal. (around 1200 calories total) How many ponds are you ladies aiming in losing? I am looking at 140! I am trying to figure out how to make a ticker! Danni

HI there. Im not going to try to talk you out of your band, b/c I havent even had one done yet! (and you asked us not to!) I just wanted to ask what the reasons are that you want to get rid of it? You say its not worth the stress, and you want a normal life back? What have you gone through, if you dont mind my asking? Have you had physical or emotinal problems with it? I also just wanted to say that I have several friends (5 to be exact) that went through a dark phase after getting WLS (2 were banded, 3 were gastric bypass) They were saying what the heck did I do, I made a mistake, etc. They talked to their doctors, and others about their feelings, and I gues sthey are completely normal feelings to have. And, they usually pass. All of my 5 friends feelings have passed, and they are living more "normal" lives now. They are eating more normal food, and they are thinner. Just food for thought. I wish you the best!

thanks for your input ladies! I am having it done March 31st. I am so used to putting others needs ahead of my own. I still feel that if I die during surgery, that it will have been a very selfish thing for me to have done. But, I suppose I wont be around to feel guilty :crying:
-
I am having mine done on March 31st, also! Dr Jones at Beth Israel in Boston. (BIDMC) I cant wait! I am sooo excited! (and nervous!)
