I'm thinking I might do a little decorating today too. We'll see. I can't get the boxes out of the closet by myself so I'll just grab what I can reach and go from there! I've got the pre-lit fake on the porch and now it just needs a little decorating and a tree skirt. I'll try to get the other pre-lit fake up in the dining room. Decorating the tree will have to wait til the ornaments boxes are out of the the closet. We'll get our real tree for the living room after we get back from DL.

We are SO flippin' excited!!!!!! DH and I adore DL and just can't wait to show DD all about it!! I know she is going to be overwhelmed. That was another reason, besides $$, that we are only going for a few days. We don't want to string her out too far! And the hotel is right across the street so we can go back and forth easily as needed.

I am thoroughly pissed off this morning! I ordered DD a princess dress. Should have been here Monday, Tuesday at the latest. Check UPS tracker last night to find that they couldn't find a valid street address on Monday, tried to deliver to our old, of which we haven't lived in for almost 8 years and then took it back to the warehouse! they're sending a postcard and holding it for us to pick up from them!!!!! I called the 800 number last night at like midnight when I saw all of this. He said he'd have the warehouse call me this AM first thing. No phone call. Checked the site and it doesn't say out for delivery.

We get stuff here ALL the time! I saw the damn truck on our street Monday! We have a reflective number sign at the end of our driveway! Our regular driver, we know by name! Hell he was so excited when DD came home he hugged me!!! I've got more stuff coming and am now freaked out about it actually getting here! I have NEVER had this problem before!!!!

Anyway. I'll be calling the damn 800 number again soon to find out how to get our package delivered! I am NOT driving an hour down the hill to go pick this thing up!!!!!! Stupid substitute driver!!!!!!

DD is doing okay. She's stuffy, coughing a little. I'm a mess! All head stuff. YUCK! Been doing saline washes to try to help. It does but only for a little bit. Got a lot of gunk in there! Double YUCK!

I'm NOT a morning person and HATE crowds. Could you see me out there in all of that? LOL!! Maybe on the NEWS when I went nutso and killed someone! LOL!!!!! AND we have an hour drive each way to get to the city so why even go to bed at that point?! Nope, I stay home, in my warm bed, sleeping! Hope you two had a blast!!!

Jenn, DH wants to get a bunch of decorating done this week when he gets home. Only thing is that we need to get ready for our trip since we're leaving as soon as he gets home and gets the truck loaded. We'll see how far we get!

I did pretty good w/my eating yesterday. Didn't stuff myself, tho ate a plateful of food. Woke up this AM to a loss of a couple of pounds. Interesting.

Then you can just scroll down to read any who have posted after you. A few more steps but seems to work.

I changed a bunch of settings and now the PM envelope is gone from under my avatar. Need to go find it again.

Kat, I am super, super NOT happy about the FB, twitter linking. Add me to your list of complaints if needed. I do agree w/you about missing out on some new friends. I just really don't want our conversation linked to God knows where, by God knows who. I know this is a public forum. I get that it's all over anyway but to have direct links that can go even more public just makes my skin crawl.

We are going to brine a turkey for the first time. Alton Brown on food network has one that we are going to use. We have a 12lb turkey. We are only feeding 4 of us tomorrow. DH is out on the hunt for a bucket or foam cooler to use. We forgot the jellied cranberry sauce so he has to go to the store anyway for that. I make sauce but he likes the jellied stuff for his sandwiches.

Cleaning the house and doing laundry today. My mom is coming in tomorrow night.

Jenn, nice about the new computer. Kevin is sure trying to work his way back, isn't he? It'd be nice if he'd just give up and leave you alone. Any word on the new job?

Suzie, I have a huge spur on the back of my ankle as well as another huge one on the bottom of my heel. They have to detach the tendon and peel it away from the spur to cut it off, then re-attach the tendon. That's why the 8 weeks casted and off of it. I wish it was just a matter of removing some spurs w/out having to involve the tendon. Recovery is going to be REALLY difficult! NOT looking forward to it but it will be nice not having the near constant pain! I am so glad yours went so well. Makes me feel better about mine!!

Anyone talk to Debbie? I'm wondering if she's having a hard time finding us like I did. I need to hook up with her on FB.

We've had snow the last couple of days. I love it!

Since we've been locked outta here, I've seen my foot doc. I have to have surgery. The spurs are huge. I will be 8 weeks in a cast, non-weight bearing! Yikes!!! Don't know when surgery will be yet. I was hoping for December but it looks more probable for January. The surgery department needs to call me to schedule.

I'm married, almost 23 years; 4 1/2 yr old DD; 3 dogs; live in the mtns; just diagnosed w/Lupus this summer and have spurs in my left foot/ankle [hence the foot doc appt today]; been banded 2 years and have regained about 20lbs b/c of the lack of exercise and stress this summer/fall, gotta work on it, but still in a better place than I was before surgery. Me in a nutshell! :blushing:

Tracy, so glad you got to surprise you mom. I've done that w/my mom too. Just driven up there [3 1/2 hrs] and then calling her when I'm outside. It's fun! Have you signed up on Chuckie's website? They send you coupons! It's free and they're worth it! Have fun!

Nothing fun going on today. My ear hurts and I can't hear out of it. The drops aren't working as well as I'd hoped. I'll head to Kaiser in the AM after dropping off DD to pick up the antibiotics that doc Rx'd for me. I was hoping to avoid that but there's too much pressure and pain. Thinking the ear drum is fully involved now when maybe it hadn't been last week.

Also, in regards to my left ankle/foot, I'm going to e-mail my doc and have him send me a referral to the podiatrist. Figuring if it's bad enough for surgery, I'm going to have to have it next month. DH is off all month so he'd be home to take care of everybody. Otherwise he's not home for any length of time other than just days off. Hoping I don't need surgery for it but who knows. Need to talk to the foot doc first.

DH is working overtime today. He'll be home tomorrow. Other than that, nothing going on. Feel too icky to do anything. Steelers are playing tonight so we'll watch them for sure.

Met my sister and her kids in the city today at Chuck E. Cheese's. We had so much fun! DD loved it! We were there for about 4 hours!!! I didn't tell Dd we were going. She didn't figure it out til we parked and even then she still wasn't sure!

The decorating is done. And I must say the store looks great!!! I want to decorate my house, but it's 76 here today!!! It's supposed to cool off by Sunday. I feel kind of funny putting a wreath on the door when it's warm enough for sandals!

Here's the recipes:

Chili Pasta Skillet

1 medium onion

1 lb ground beef

1 can Tomato sauce

1 can red kidney Beans (drained and rinsed...the beans are optional)

1 can diced tomatoes & green chiles

Elbow macaroni

shredded cheese

Garlic powder

Chili powder

Cut and peel onion. Brown meat and onion in skillet. Drain fat. Put onion, meat, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes & green chiles, kidney beans and macaroni (I don't measure. Just go by how much I think is enough) in. Sprinkle the garlic powder and chili powder (I don't measure it. Just sprinkle it all around). Stir it all together. Bring it to a boil. Then cover and simmer until the noodles are soft. Once the noodles are soft, melt the shredded cheese on top. And serve!

Chicken Casserole

1 pound chicken breasts

1 can cream of chicken Soup

1 can cream of mushroom soup (or 1 more can of cream of chicken if you don't like mushrooms)

1 pint sour cream

2 packs of Ritz crackers (you can use only 1 pack, but DH likes a lot of crackers so I use 2)

1 stick melted butter

Boil chicken and pull it apart. Mix chicken, the 2 cans of Soups, and sour cream together. Put it in your casserole dish. Put your crushed crackers on top. And pour the melted butter over the crackers. Bake on 350 for 45 - 60 minutes (or when there is some bubbles in the casserole).

They are so simple to make!!

As normal around here, things have a way of changing! I took Mom to the Dr. for her pre op scans, and actually spoke to the Dr./surgeon. He is not going to put her completely out, he plans to send her home within a couple of hours. The tumor is not cancerous, but it is the 2nd one she has had, the other was years and years ago----20 + or -. She told him to assure me it was ok to go to TX!!! He laughed and said he foresaw nothing to cause problems. And my Mom was almost in tears in his office, and told him if I wouldn't go, they needed to postpone! So I am going to Texas. Manda is off, and my Aunt will be here as well with my Dad, and the preacher will be with them. I feel like a horrible daughter, but when I agreed, she was a happy camper. She has been happy and animated the remainder of the day. Go figure. I mean I understand......I would encourage Manda to go.....but still!!!

But we are not going to Phoenix tonight, like we thought about doing. We would be pushing it time wise, and we do not want to rush the decision on a truck. We are paying cash for it.....and we want to make a wise choice. So we will watch, and when something else catches our attention, we will take a long weekend and go. If we went tonight, we would be renting a car, so we would not have to drive another back, it would be 13-14 hours driving round trip there, then turn around and another 12-13 to Texas!

Speaking of Texas. Figure us out a place, and I am there! I told Rick I was going to go away for a day! LOL Look on your maps, I am going to Comanche. It is on Hwy 36 coming out of Abilene. Have a look at it, and see if there is somewhere we can get together!!! How exciting!

I have laundry done, all but the vaccuuming done housewise. Pack & vaccuum, and I am good to go!!!

Saw the doc today and as far as he can tell, the eardrum is not infected. It's the ear canal. He said it's almost completely closed down! Never had that happen before. I thought if felt different but who knew?

Anyway, he gave me some drops that have some antibiotic and steroids to get the inflammation down. He said it should feel better by morning but if not, then pick up some oral antibiotics he ordered.

No errands. By the time we got done there, I barely had enough energy to go pick up our veggie box and get us home. I had a fever by the time I got to pick up the box. Freezing by the time we got home. Got a fire going in the stove and DD and I had something hot to drink and just finished some soup I made last night.

Getting ready to head out the door. Hubby and I are driving over to the hospital to do my pre-op. She didn't tell me if I needed to fast for the blood draw, so I haven't had my cup of hot chocolate yet. It'll be ok, I think hubby is taking me out for dinner(keeping fingers crossed).

Michelle, when we were at Disneyland back in Sept. I was really surprised and pleased to see all the little girls dressed in their princess dresses. If they'd had one in my size I would have worn it. Good luck with the foot.

Hey everyone! Just want to pop in real quick to say hi! I haven't logged in here for over a week, not good...... Hopefully this weekend I'll have a little time to catch up on back posts and see what everyone has been up to.

This morning I'm heading out to Phoenix to help DD move and take her dogs to her. yay!!! But of course we woke up to snow just when I need to travel. But it will be wonderful in Phoenix low to mid 70s ahhhhhhhh.

Weight loss is kinda stalled AGAIN. I go for my 4th fill the week after Thanksgiving. I don't eat nearly as much as I used to but I'm guess I still eat to much. Combine that with no excercise and well it's not good. I've got to get it together and start exercising. All I do allllll day is sit at a desk and lately that's been from 7:30 am until 6 or 7 pm. Oh well at least I should be able to get some retail exercise this weekend walking around Ikea and the malls there lol.

Hope everyone is well, I'll try to catch up tomorrow while I'm waiting for the movers.

Michelle...I will post the recipes when I get home from work. My husband loves the Chili Pasta Skillet so much, that he usually asks me every week to cook it. They are both so easy to make!! I'm actually going to tweak my chicken casserole recipe because I use cream of mushroom Soup, but I don't like mushrooms. I will give both ways for the chicken casserole.

I'm about to start decorating the store. I actually went to Lowe's this morning and bought 2 pre-lit 4 foot trees to sit on each side of my door at my house, and a new wreath for the door. And a new tree topper because I bought new Christmas tree decorations this year too. lol

My mom still hasn't heard back from the doctor. :rolleyes2: We went through this with Jason's mom about 2 months ago. Everything was fine with her. So I'm hoping the same for my mom!

Thank you! Have fun decorating today. I love Christmas. I swear every year DH and I spend more money on decorations than we do on actual presents for people! LOL! We've got a closet that is over the stairs and it is STUFFED w/tubs of just Christmas decorations. We have more up in storage! We could actually decorate 2 houses w/all the stuff we've got. There is no theme. It's all stuff that we've gotten/collected over the years. His family has a tradition in that parents give each kid an ornament every year. DD is going to be able to decorate her own tree when she moves out w/out having to buy anything but the tree and some lights!

We have a real tree in the living room and then we've got pre-lit fake ones we use in the dining room and kitchen. Garlands w/lights over the windows, the mantel. Deer outside, a pre-lit fake on the front porch, etc. Takes a long time to decorate and we usually still have tons of stuff left-over.

Terri, have a safe journey. I know the snow is beautiful but it can be very dangerous.

Home from my pre-op. I have to be there next thursday at 10am and then my surgery will be at 1:30pm. I probably should be home around 6pm-ish. I have a list of things I have to do before and then afterwards it's just take it easy and lots of rest. Uh huh, right. Have you known me to rest?

Now I'm off to go take sis to the grocery store.

Good morning!!! I cooked one of mine and DH's favorite meals last night. Chili Pasta Skillet. Yes, I still eat pasta, just not as much. (I feel like pasta and rice is such a taboo topic here. lol) It's so good!! And it definitely hit the spot! I'm making chicken casserole and veggies tonight. I'm dying for some good lean protein! lol I think I may have DH grill some steaks this week to get my fix.

Tracy...I hope this is the end of my Lee problem too! It's wearing me out! I hate petty drama. To me, there's not point in it! I wear a size 9 or 9.5. It depends on how the shoe is made, but I mostly wear a 9. I didn't get the shoe that I posted a picture of. I changed my mind.

I went by the store yesterday to talk to Jacque about "holiday hours" during the week. A girl was trying on a shoe, and the zipper broke on her foot, and Jacque said they almost couldn't get the zipper off. I about died. They did get the shoe off, thankfully! Now I hope the company will replace the shoe.

I eat everything. Only thing I have any sort of issue w/is meat. Especially pork. No matter how moist, it seems, steak and pork I have to chew forever!

Bummer about the shoe but thank goodness it came off! Yikes!

Pasta is not a taboo subject with me, I eat it--actually fairly frequently. I just cannot eat much of it at all. Seriously---1/4 of a cup will do me! And I am with an unfilled band! something about what little restriction I have, it sits, then I am guessing absorbs stomach fluids, and swells. I used to be able to eat huge plates of pasta----and be hungry again before bed! Now, I can eat a small, small amount, and not want to eat again the remainder of the day because it is not a comfortable full feeling. I have to chew VERY well, it does not mush like you would expect pasta to.

Rice is easier for me, IF I have like soy sauce, or something like that on it. Spanish rice is usually still too dry, and plain fried rice the same.

Potatoes---mashed are great, baked are great, fried are iffy, and french fries are hard! Again, it takes less of them than ever to fill me.

I tend to avoid these things only because they keep me from getting any sort of nutrition at all, because they fill me so.

I was cautious of the high GI foods prior to banding because I was what they were deeming pre diabetic---my #'s were getting up there. They put me on Metformin for awhile, but after banding it was not needed.

I am going to my meeting today---not tonight. They are offering it several times through the day. So, will be able to go to dinner with Rick afterall.

Looks like we will be heading to Phoenix Friday. We had our friend go check out the truck we are interested in, he took it to a mechanic friend. They agree it is a good buy----and in sound shape. It is used. But we just want something comfortable to take the folks back and forth to TX with, that we can still haul things with. The van is super comfortable, but......we HATE towing a trailer with it, it is not made for that, and the tranny is getting old, our cars have tons of miles!

We want to try a truck of this type before committing to making payments or something. I will add a link, if it will take.

The guy is holding it for us to get there. Gluttons for punishment, Phoenix is 6.5 hours away, so a 13 hr drive. Then 12 the next day to TX.

Manda should speak to her boss today. My Mom is in tears, because she wants me to go, hates making my life hard----she keeps saying she would do anything to see the boys, she wants me to go. I am so torn. My stomach is in an uproar. Oh well, it will go the way it is supposed to I told her.

Pasta is not taboo with me either. But I don't eat a lot of it either. I'm one of those ones that really don't have a problem with any food. The other day at lunch, my friend got stuck on her salad. She said iceberg is ok but when she gets into the fancy lettuces that's when she has problems.

Kat, that is such a hard decision to make. If you stay with your Mom, how soon will it be before you can go see the boys?

Jenn, I sure wish we could get a long post from you. It's been such a long time since we've had a good update.

Cindy, I would be a nervous wreck having some one watch me. I've always hated having my bosses to close to me when I work. Not that I'm hiding anything, just makes me nervous.

Michelle, I'm thinking very seriously about doing the bag thing. Especially the morning of my surgery because it will be a few days before I will be able to get back in. I'll have the stitches on my stomach and won't be able to get those wet. Years ago when I went thru that horrible 6 months of in and out of the hospital for treatments, I got real good at doing sponge baths. I have it down real good and can get in and out real fast. I would just rather be in a shower.

So far today I have done my house work, washed a few blankets, baked cupcakes for the hospital tonight, made some caramel rolls for hubby for breakfast. Now I'm relaxing and eating my bowl of oatmeal. Think I may go over to the thrift store after while.

Busy busy here! This should be our last week(end) of "busy-ness" and then things will get somewhat back to normal. Thank you, Jesus!

Kat...I hope you still get to come to TX. What a dilemma . I haven't heard any talk about all of us getting together still or not?

I am on vacation from the 19th-29th. I am stoked!! We have a lot of family and friends coming in so it should be lots of fun.

We too did the trash bag covering of wounds, lol! Zach's arm was a big one. A little different than trying to cover a leg that you need to stand on, but it does get the job done.

Speaking of which, and in case I forget to mention it before I leave, please keep Zach in your prayers on the 23rd. He goes in for what I pray (I HAVE said this before...lol) is his last surgery on that arm injury from last year. His arm looks amazing...but the inside of his arm (where the damage was) still has a little bit of skin graft that has to be removed. No big deal, but still...another surgery.

Anyhow, getting out of here...I am excited about the country music awards tonight so I want to have dinner ready and have my butt parked on the couch by seven! HA!!

Angela....I'm praying this is Zach's last surgery!! And for a quick recovery!!!

Plain...he is wanting to do a sleep test. It's just a matter of him going to the doctor after work so he can get referred to the sleep center in Chattanooga.

My mom has found some lumps in her breast. She went to her OBGYN and he sent her for a mammogram and an ultrasound. They are now waiting for the place in Knoxville to send her last mammogram, so they can compare. Thankfully breast cancer doesn't run in our family. So please pray that this is nothing serious!!!!

I've got the casserole in the oven, just waiting for it be finished while DH is in the garage working on the buggy. I must say, I make a good chicken casserole, so I'm looking forward to dinner. I'm trying to talk DH into going to the murder mystery dinner that is in downtown Chattanooga. I think it would be so much fun!!

I've got a long day tomorrow. I'm rearranging my store and decorating it for Christmas. I'm so ready to put my decorations at my house. lol I know it's not even Thanksgiving yet, but I love Christmas time!!

Hello all

So much going on here, I have tried to catch up, I'm just exhauted, it has been so cold here and I don't have much work so I'm bored out of my mine, yet freezing cold... so I come home from work, take the longest hot shower in the world, or that my hot Water tank will hold, and go to class or drill.

I just found out tonight that the new manager is leaving to go to another job, and the old manager is taking control of this huge project I put together... and tomorrow when they announce who will be in charge again, I am pretty sure I will be making a deal with the company that has tried to recruit me for 2 months. I will not ever work for her ever again.

So class is going well, and drill is good, cliimbed on a roof full gear last night. I need to walk in the pants, hard to move with short legs

Ear is really bad. Headed to the doc in the afternoon tomorrow. I also want to find out what the x-ray about the ankle says. I need to stop at the church office and sign some checks so I'm going to raid our medical equipment closet and grab a cane. :frown:

I'm trying not to panic about DisneyLand and I'm going no matter how much it hurts but I'd like to be having fun not worried about dragging every one down with me. Taking the cane for sure and pain meds.

We are all booked for our trip next month. SO excited!!! Can't wait to show DD all about it! One of the moms at preschool offered her a princess dress. I need to find out if she has Sleeping Beauty. DD is all about the PINK right now! She doesn't care about the princess, she wants the pink dress! LOL!!!

Suz, when I broke my leg in HS, my dad stuck a garbage bag over my leg and Duct Taped it! Seriously! Never got it wet and I wore it for 8 weeks [cast, not the bag]! Worked great! Another idea to use other than the Duct Tape would be painter's tape. Don't know how it sticks to skin but it'd be Water proof!

We were going to go woodcutting today but it's too wet. We'll have to wait til next Tuesday.

My right ear woke me up at 3AM. Took a decongestant and put some drops in it, stuck a cotton ball in it and went back to bed. Dumb thing. It's always giving me fits. Don't think it's infected as that I can see coming so who knows what's going on with it now. If need be, I'll go see the doc but I'll give it some time first. Still plugged up but it's not as bad as it was this AM.

Well, I need to go finish up the kitchen and get something to eat. Have a great day!
