Thanks, Lulu! That might be my issue now too. I've been walking my hilly neighborhood just about everyday for the last few weeks. I'm starving! I just can't see how a body'd make it on 1 1/2 cups of food a day! Well, that makes it a lot easier! Ya never know! I was a skinny thing as a kid/teen and they came in long. Now that I'm old  and fat and losing again, they're perking up. I just don't get it! Sorry about the double longs. :crying: I like Slim's quote too. I agree with you Beth. I keep going back into the 'diet' mentality and have to remind myself this time IS different. After 20+ yrs of gaining then losing, only to gain it again, it's become habit! PJTP: Something kinda cool for me today. Was able to finally get on the treadmill this afternoon. We're storming so no walking the neighborhood this AM. I haven't been on the treadmill since I started walking the neighborhood a few weeks ago. I didn't think that I was improving at all on my walks b/c the hills are super steep and they KILL me! Esp. when I'm pushing the stroller. Well today, I had to up all my numbers on the treadmill b/c it was too easy!! It took a lot longer to break a sweat and I wasn't as winded as I normally am! Whoo Hoo! Anyway, I thought it was kinda cool. I'm so NOT athletic, tho I'd like to get in better shape. We've got some great trails and day hikes in our area and I haven't been able to manage any of them yet. I'm excited!! I know, silly, but I wanted to share.

Oh for crying out loud! Because I wrote inside Lulu's quote it's telling me my message is too short and won't post it. I've NEVER had anyone tell me I don't talk enough!! LOL!

Thanks for the update. I'm still praying! Mine came IN as double longs! Yikes! Can't even fill a B cup and they're siteseeing down near the belly button. NOW tho, they're still small but are becoming perky! What's up with THAT! I'm 40 for crying out loud!! Not complaining too much (tho if I could afford it, I'd be getting implants) but just think it's REALLY weird! Yeah, me too! UGH! Question for y'all. My doc says no more than 3 meals a day and I should be eating about a 1/2 cup. Sooo, with this last fill, I'm eating about a 1/2 cup BUT I'm hungry again a few hours later. Is this normal? Example: the other night for dinner I made "taco" salads. I make up a bean/meat mix, throw some on a pile of salad, add cheese, salsa, sour cream or ranch dressing and broken up tortilla chips. So lunch today was a scoop of leftover bean/meat mix, cheese, salsa and a couple of chips (I know, I know re: the chips but the damn things are SO good! Black Bean tortilla. Yummm!). Ate about noon and 3 hours later, hungry. Last night for dinner had split pea & veggie soup and was fine for 5 hours before getting hungry again. Is is more WHAT I'm eating vs. how MUCH? Or maybe I was just swollen last night and am fine today. Doc doesn't have us do liquids or mushies, just regular foods. I usually take it easy the first night and then see how I do the next day. Anyway, wondering what your experiences or doc's orders are like. Thanks.

That's the wonderful thing about living in the middle of the nation's salad bowl! I'm in the mtns in the central part of CA and that's where most of the nation's veggies are grown. There is a farm an hour from me that is an organic CSA. They pack weekly boxes of what ever is in season and ready that day, for their members and deliver to drop sites in different areas. I pick up a box every week at my local (10 minutes from my house) natural foods store. LOVE IT!! Sounds like a TON of fun!!! It'd be a blast to actually SEE the drop! Enjoy!! We're doing the same thing. Happens every April. Mid-70's one day, snow the next. Rain the next few days! It's hard to figure out what to wear sometimes!! Layers are always called for this time of year! Have fun!! Best wishes on the results. I would find the whole process fascinating. But I'm strange that way. Nope, he's here! His boob radar went off! :tt2: SOOOOO glad it all went well! I was hoping to see an update soon. Have fun! And three hours is nothing. It'll be over before ya know it! Think this fill might work, at least for a little while. What I normally eat for breakfast, I couldn't finish this AM! Still need to get on the treadmill and walk. Can't do the neighborhood thing today. Threatening rain and it's cold. Don't want to take DD out in the stroller in this stuff. Just me and I'd go, did the other day. Got wet but it wasn't bad. Dog felt differently than I did tho! She practically dragged me back to the house Wednesday! LOL! Have a Blessed Good Friday!

Yep, Maxalt. Works good but they make me sleepy. For awhile they'd get so bad, I'd have to leave work. Luckily my office was only 5 minutes from my house but there were times when I should've asked my boss to drive me. He gets 'em too so totally understands. One time, I don't remember the drive home and I was so glad to be in my driveway that I almost forgot to stop my truck before hitting the garage door! That would've been a bad oops! Another time I was so bad I had to try to count the hours between doses and had to read the paperwork to find out if I was about to overdose on the stuff! Missed almost a whole week of work! Luckily I'm under better control now. If you need 'em, use 'em! Don't wait too long or you have to take more meds. If you feel it coming on, start the meds! Prayers for your Dad AND your Mom! Still praying! Whoo Hoo!! Have fun deciding what to drink first and ENJOY!! I'm so sorry you're having to deal with this. Hang in there. THAT was so COOL!!!!! What a great office! I hope it ends up working out for you in the long-term. Oh THAT sucks!! EASTER: It's just the 3 of us this year. The IL's are sick and since Teagan and I just got WELL we are NOT visiting the family this year! We usually do a ham so instead, we bought some ham steaks and we'll have mashed potatoes and sugar snap peas from the farm. Yummmm! We'll go to the early service like usual, then stay for breakfast and the kids' activities then head home. Normally we go to the later service on regular Sundays. PJTP: Got another fill today. I sure hope this one works. He gave me .5cc. I got .25cc only 2 weeks ago! Was only able to eat half of what I normally eat for my soup tonight so that's a positive sign! We'll see what happens in the next few days. I've been stuck in the mid 180's for WAY too long! I would like to see the 170's soon! Tho I haven't been this low since I started gaining 20+ years ago! I gotta go to bed. I'm tired! Have a great night all!

August All Stars Easter Challenge! End, wk 7 (4/5/09)

I hope everyone had a great week! We've only one more week to go til the Challenge is over. I know a lot of us have been struggling. Do the best you can and hold your heads up HIGH!! Have a fabulous week!! -
I completely agree with you. {I usually do! Scary! LOL!} Including them sticking around. It really was the only thing they could do. That would have sucked had they left you out there. 'Course that would have been different had they had an emergency to go to! In my situation, I haven't told many people. I don't want the whole world to know, yet I want to share about things. But I really don't want everyone to know [yes, I realize I said that twice.]! I think that's women in general. A lot of us don't want to be the center of attention (me!) BUT we're PO'd if no one notices the things we do, for others, for family, for work, for whomever. If we accomplish something (esp major) on our own, we don't want to be fawned over but we still want others to notice what we've done. My DH pretty much does all the laundry. And yet, I bitch about how he folds things! Um, HELLOOOOO, he just did ALL the laundry and you didn't have to walk your fat butt downstairs umpteen million times to deal with it and you're complaining!!!! Yeah, I'm working on that one. I think, in general, women are never happy about things.
-
Like Wasa and the others have said, take it in a good way. It probably WAS a "hooray to the fat girl" BUT how GREAT that he felt the need to encourage you to keep going! Instead of trying to encourage you, he could have been heckling you and TRYING to make you feel bad. If he's a regular, I'm sure he's seen LOTS of fat people out there struggling to get around one time and giving up after a day or 2. His seeing you on your THIRD mile probably impressed him greatly. It's HARD to exercise when you're fat. I don't WANT to do it. I tend to TRY to find an excuse to NOT do it! BUT the last few weeks I've been getting my DD in her stroller, the dog on her leash and getting my big butt outside to walk my neighborhood. Almost everyday! I am arranging my schedule now to make sure my mornings are free to be able to walk and have time for a shower after. I bought a pedometer to motivate myself b/c those low number days just totally SUCK and they piss me off!! And shock of all shocks, I am LIKING my walks now!!! I get pissy when I can't take one or they get shortened or messed up somehow! LOL! A lot of us have self-esteem issues. It's something we need to work on. I, personally, had to stop the negative self-talk. I used to call myself stupid, dumb, idiot, whatever the situation, I thought, called for. Well, it dawned on me one day that I don't feel so good about myself. Well, why should I when I don't like myself enough to not call myself names? I don't call my friends names (for the most part! LOL!) so why am I doing that to myself? I really had to change my thought process. It took a lot of time and conscious thought but I have changed how I think about myself. Ya gotta work on the head stuff almost more than the physical stuff! And Wasa! Congrats on staying out there and finishing your run even with the cops watching! I'd have gone home! LOL! And now, I'll close the dang BOOK I just wrote!! LOL! 'Night!

Welcome and congrats on your loss so far! I'm Kaiser as well and had my surgery in August. Best wishes!!

"they" say I have lost enough weight..give me a break!
heartfire replied to di1138's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think that part of the problem is they aren't used to seeing you this thin! They don't know how to deal with it and to them, [because ya know, you (not necessarily YOU but I mean in general, you, or us!) were always the fat one], anything near normal, is too thin now. A comeback, if you think you even need to dignify their comments with a response, is that you and your DOCTORS have come up with a goal weight and that's what you're working towards. Thankyouverymuch! Ooo, ooo! I know! Get all southern belle, sugar-sweet on them and say something like, "Why Sweetie, Thank you SO much for your concern! I AM under a doctors care but I'll be sure to tell you first thee MOMENT something goes wrong!!" 'Cause ya know, they are JUST so concerned for your health! LOL! Sorry, I'm in a strange mood tonight! Could be fun tho! LOL! -
Mac, that's wonderful! Congratulations!!
-
Lellow! You're back! How did surgery go? You're my hero! I can't believe you've only gained 3lbs! Are you sure it isn't from surgery? Hope your fill goes well. Take good care of yourself!

My mom used to run hot Water w/a little bleach thru hers on a monthly basis. Then run clean water thru to rinse out the bleach. She'd have pots for years! I'm sorry. I'm a strange one and happen to like snow. I really, really hope you're not on the "list." It's better. Meds and a good night's sleep always helps. I'm hoping I'm not clustering tho. Takes a lot outta me. I'm "ghosting" one right now and hoping it doesn't go full-blown again. I can def eat anything in quantity right now AND I don't have to go too slow. I'm going in on Thurs. afternoon. I gained 1.7 this last week after losing 3 the week before. :w00t: I hate the up and down stuff. Glad to hear you had such a great weekend but I'm so sorry that it ended badly. Travel is no fun when it turns into a nightmare! Thanks, last night's migraine is gone but sometimes I cluster for a few days. I'll get one everyday and have to use more meds than I like. I'm "ghosting" one right now (where it's sorta there but not really) so I think I'm doomed. I take Maxalt. It's a melt-away tablet that you put on your tongue. They work really well for the most part. My triggers are environmental and hormonal. If the barometric pressure changes too drastically (like now) that also triggers them too. Weather's been nice but we're supposed to storm in the next day or 2. Mmmm, taffy! :cool2: Love that stuff! I hope you get word soon too. Best wishes. Glad you're back! Hope all went well. We're doing the same but are expecting a storm in the next day or 2, are you supposed to get that one too? I haven't been paying attention lately. Because we do what we're supposed to do and it gets on our nerves when others don't, yet get the rewards for their laziness. I'm sorry. And I have no advice. Sounds like he needs a new wife, or even better, a bachelor pad all his own! LOL! I love multi-quote!!! LOL! UGH! Gotta figure out lunch and go to the grocery store. Yuck! Normally not a problem but I have NO idea what to cook.

Tina, I for one, am thrilled that you're having such a great time and enjoying life so much! Go for it! Best wishes on your upcoming surgery!

August All Stars Easter Challenge! End, wk 7 (4/5/09)
heartfire replied to heartfire's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Okay, realized tonight that I didn't post my results for the week. Pitiful really. I had a gain of 1.7. I'm hungry after only a 1 1/2 after my last fill. I'm going to call the nurse and see if she can get me in to see him this week for another fill. So. Not going to hit my goal again. :smile2: -
Ro! I was wondering where you were at! Glad you checked in. Sorry you've been having such a hard time. Sounds like you might be okay now. Hang in there and STAY IN TOUCH!!!
-
Best wishes for your surgery tomorrow! Good for you for getting rid some of that gain! that's a lot of hard work! Congrats! Let us know how you're doing! Take care!

Done. I know it's tough being so far away. He's absolutely adorable! Ummm, those are NOT presents!! FIL bought MIL a vacuum one year for Christmas. Uh yeah, that didn't go over well! Sounds like fun! Glad you enjoyed!! Sick, have a safe trip. Lu, happy anniversary! Beth, hang in there. It WILL get better! I need another fill. Just got one a week and half ago. It was a refill after being so sick. He'd taken .25cc out and on the 25th put it back in. I had restriction for all of a week. Now I'm hungry again and EATING! I want another .25cc to see where that gets me. After being too tight when I was sick, I'm afraid of that happening again so planning to go slow with the fills. Another migraine. Off to bed. 'Night!

Anyone already banded with kids in cribs
heartfire replied to comtemplating's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I just read over this post and this sucker is LONG!! Sorry!! But here it goes!! I'm just going to post everything that I did and hope that some of it helps. My DD was 2.3 yrs when I had surgery in August. I had a 10lb lifting restriction for six weeks!! DH is a fireman and works a 72hr shift every week, so when he's gone, I'm a "single" parent for 3 days! We had to figure some things out! Once I knew that surgery was going to be fairly soon [didn't have a date yet but knew it would be within a month] we started working on things. I talked to DD about having surgery and that mama's tummy was going to hurt for awhile. We were going to have to be careful and she was going to need to help me as much as she could. She got in to that! :scared2: [Kept it basic, of course.] She's tall for her age and we had taken the side-rail off her crib awhile before that so I didn't have to deal with that. [The mattress was as low as it could go and standing, the top of the rail was just above her belly button! It's supposed to be no lower than nipple level!!] We moved the carseat from my truck to DH's car so that DD could climb in herself and get herself in to her carseat. Once she was there, I could then buckle her up. DH went with me to grocery shop before he went to work and I just made sure that I didn't need anything while he was gone! No way could I get DD in and out of a cart or carry a bag of groceries. A gallon of milk is 10lbs so a grocery bag is too heavy. Laundry, it's downstairs in the garage, no way could I get it to and from. DH did all the laundry [and still does actually!]. sleeping, DD crawls in with us sometimes. I took a little pillow and would sleep with it against my stomach in case of any bumping during the night. Keep the pillow handy. Take it in the car with you to put between you and the seatbelt. Keep it handy for when you need to sit and your kids want to climb up to cuddle, place pillow over stomach to keep elbows and knees away from your port area. That's what's going to hurt the most if it gets bumped. DD loves hugs. I had her climbing on to a chair to stand and give hugs. She loves it and it's something we still do. If you MUST carry a kid, have them get up on something so all you have to do is TAKE them. You're not LIFTING but moving from, say a chair, to your arms. Be aware there are going to be things you didn't think of that all of a sudden, something happens. DD was sitting on my lap in my desk chair, started to get down but fell instead, I went to catch her but all I was able to do was slow her down. It HURT!!! She was fine but it startled her, and me, for that matter. Another time, DD was playing with her fire engine. It's a wooden, rocking fire engine. She was driving and climbing over it and playing with it in general when she sat down on the back of it and slipped into the compartment at the back. It's big enough for a few toys or stuffed animal or doll. Well, she was stuck and she couldn't get herself up and out. I had to pull her out! There was no other way. It HURT!! There are just going to be things that happen that you aren't prepared for. That's just the way it plays. Just like if something's going to break, it's going to wait til DH is at work and I'm going to have to deal with it. Things like that! LOL! One of the things I did before surgery, was go through my day and analyze everything I did as I did it. Thinking, is this going to work when I'm sore, can't lift, moving slow, whatever? Another thing is to get specifics from your surgeon about lifting restriction, carrying, whatever questions you have about daily movements and how long things are going to have to be different. He may say no lifting for 6 weeks but you can carry after 4. Something like that. That's why you want to analyze your daily movements. One to make changes and another to ask your surgeon questions BEFORE surgery. If you can have help, get it, take it, beg for it if you need to. It will just make things SO much easier on you and the kids. Between my DH and my mom, I was blessed with help for 3 weeks. If you have any questions, feel free to ask! Best wishes!! -
Fanny you look GREAT!! LOVE your new hairdo! Susan, hope your surgery went well! g4e, congrats on the job. It's hard when you're broke but have to buy stuff in order to start making money! UGH! Glouc, so is it mani's tomorrow?! Have FUN!!! Money - It has to be in proper order and facing correctly. PJTP - I'm pretty pleased w/myself. I bought a pedometer and have been using it everyday. I move a little more than I thought I did AND I've been putting DD in her stroller, leashing the dog and taking a walk in my neighborhood everyday. I'm going between 1-1.5 miles. It takes 30-45 minutes and it's TOUGH! We live in the mountains and the walk is all up and down hills. I'm thinking I need a "jogging" stroller now tho. [i am so NOT jogging! LOL!] Our regular stroller is bulky and hard to push and it doesn't like to track well. Hard on the hands/wrists. Anyway, finally getting my big [shrinking] butt moving consistently!!! AND my Exercise Induced Asthma isn't flaring up too bad. Shocking! Whoo Hoo!! *rant* I hate it when people post on a thread that they haven't bothered to read all gazillion + pages and are commenting on the very first post. Esp. when the thread itself started a YEAR AGO and tho it's an ongoing thread, it's progressed as such that the OP[ost] isn't worth commenting on with ADVICE on how to proceed!!!!!! It's already PROCEEDED!!!!!! Read the WHOLE thing so your comments are CURRENT to what is happening TODAY!!!!!!! *rant over* Thank you and have a good night! :scared2:
-
Welcome back, CWB!!!! Congratulations on hitting Onderland!! Isn't it WONDERFULL??!!!!! Don't leave like that AGAIN! Stick around. We ALL need each others' support! :scared2:

Well said, Steve! Carey, how did your first fill go? Blessngs!
