  1. Hate to say it but you probably need to suck it up and get a small unfill. Same thing happened to me when I was sick. I was draining so much that that was all I was filled up on. Gross, I know. BUT what also helped, first thing in the AM was a HOT cup of tea with a little honey in it. That kind of broke up the overnight stuff and got things loose enough for me to be able to eat a little. I wasn't getting any better so I went and got a slight unfill and it helped a bunch. I got tired of getting stuck all the time so it ended up working better for me that way. It had gotten to the point that I needed the hot tea before I would even try to eat. You really don't want to be PB'ing a lot. That will irritate everything and make it all worse with the swelling. Be careful. Take care and I sure hope you feel better soon! I was sick for pretty much all of February and March and in to April so I know what you're going thru! Take care!

WHAT?!?!?!?!? Are you kidding me? How do you know she didn't damage something with this episode? Are you doctors? She did great by calling her surgeon's office and speaking to a PROFESSIONAL to make sure everything is okay! By making the mistakes that both of you did, how do you know you didn't cause just a little damage and won't have a slip several months/years down the road? You don't! It is not safe for any one to say "oh, no big deal! I did it and I'm fine!" Hello! You don't know that you really are fine. I certainly hope nothing ever happens to your bands. That would be horrible, BUT there are rules, made by the PROFESSIONALS, for a reason. And no, I didn't cheat. I followed my doctors orders b/c I didn't go through all of this to mess it up. Surgery is a major thing. And BTW Indshark, RM does happen to know what she's talking about and is a successful bandster to this point. And whether you agree with her or not, please don't call people names!

    What can't you eat?

I don't have any problems with any one thing. Eating too fast is my issue. If I don't concentrate, I eat too fast and live to regret it. Most times I can catch myself before anything bad happens, like a BAD stick or bringing food back up. I choose to not eat a lot of bread. If I have a sandwich, I more often take off most of the bread. That's only b/c the bread fills me up too fast and then just sort of sits there. Not b/c I actually can't eat it. I want all the goodies INSIDE the bread! LOL! And really unless it's warm sourdough with or without butter, bread doesn't much interest me and never really has! So it's not really b/c of the band but more b/c it's no big deal to me so why fill up on it vs. the goodies. I'm sorry that your friend has had so many eating issues. My mom is a bypass patient (5 yrs out) and she eats a lot of fruit. She does have issues with some things but some stuff she doesn't know is going to be a problem til it's too late. She seems to have a problem with most chinese food. I think it's the oil. The more fatty (or oils being used cooking) the food, the more problems she seems to have. Some veggies she's good with, especially if their well-cooked (I think overdone!). Good for you for doing your research! Best wishes on whatever you choose!

    Hello from central California

Wow! Big changes! And Jenny, what a week for you! How exciting! mb20mom, hang in there. SG is right, it'll go faster than you think! There will be times that it seems to be a snail's pace but when you look back at it, after surgery, time will have flown! Got a fill today. Moved it up from next Wed. I've got too much going on next week with DD's b-day and party and didn't want to take a chance with PB's or anything. I also like to baby my stomach for a couple of days after a fill and that won't be able to happen next week. Here's hoping this fill helps! Oh and I'm now back up to 5.75cc in a 10cc band. Had to have an emergency unfill at Easter due to a stuck pill! Dumb, dumb, dumb!! So basically had to start over again. Very frustrating. I was thinking that I had finally hit my sweet spot right before that stick. Have a beautiful and SAFE weekend everyone!!

Friday Morning Weigh In May 22

Last week: 182.8 This week: 184.4 Difference: +1.6 UGH!!! I'm SO sick of being stuck here! Got a fill this AM. Here's hoping it works. Esp, since doc wants a 6lb loss in the next 4 weeks! I'm walking daily, pretty much. There's only a day or 2 a week that I miss. And it's a hard walk too! I'm eating right but it's obviously too much. Very frustrated! Have a great and SAFE Memorial Day weekend!

*WTG, Beth!!! *Tap, come out anytime. We do get snow but it's honestly not much. I'd love more but that takes higher elevation and we're not selling our house anytime soon. Normally, the most snow we get during any one storm is a couple of inches. And if you lived a little farther down the hill, you'd get a dusting, if that. Not to say we don't get a lot more if it's a really good storm but it doesn't stay on the roads very long and we have plows that keep the roads clear. Google "Central Sierra Nevada Mountains" and see what pops up. PM me if you want details as to where I am exactly. It really is a nice place to live. *Plain, go for it! Buy a bike and get your butt out there! PJTP: Got my fill this AM. Ran a couple of errands and was home by 2! Got home a whole hour sooner than I was hoping for! Score! LOL! On a sucky note, didn't lose any weight at the doc's. But I didn't gain either. I've been hungry and the weight I lost at the first part of the month, came back! Doc gave me .75cc and told me to shoot for a 6lb loss in the next 4 weeks! WHAT?! ugh. I've been stuck here for so long, I'm getting depressed about it. I guess I need to work harder. Thought I was but I'm going to take another look at what I'm doing. He said with my walks, I'm probably gaining muscle and losing inches. So WTH with wanting a 6lb loss in a month?! Anyway. I've got a lot of work to do and not sure where to start. I guess it's back to dieting, tho I said I would never diet again. I've got to do something... So, on that note. I'm off to the kitchen to try out a cupcake recipe for DD's b-day next week. We'll take them over to the station tonight so the boys can eat them! 'Night all!

Okay, here's some catch up posting! *Beth, congrats on the scale victory! WTG! And I think your vet is ripping you off! Our last dog cost us a fortune! We picked her up from the SPCA when she was about 6 months old. Great dog but was at the vet’s every time we turned around! Ended up needing knee surgery for a torn ACL! Then while she was healing from that, she started sneezing and bleeding a little from her nose. Turned out to be Nasalcondrosarcoma, terminal cancer, that would eventually make it’s way to her brain. It was a horrible experience and I don’t wish it on anyone. This all happened 5 yrs ago and it still breaks me up when I think about it. Doesn’t stop me from getting more animals tho! *Ebony, here’s hoping that one of those apps finds you a new and BETTER job! Have a fantastic trip this weekend! *Donna, I’m hoping your stall breaks soon! *Fanny, your pics from work are amazing! But no way in HELL would I be up there! Yikes! *BG and Mac, hope the work stuff gets better. *Tap, sometimes the hired help is worse than just doing it yourself! *g4e, you had to. You can’t have a dog like that in a home with other animals and children esp. Heartbreaking tho, I know. *Mac, again, sounds like a successful shopping trip! *Beth, again, if you’re going to get serious about biking, get your “seat” fitted. Yes I mean your butt. My mom did that, thinking she needed a bigger bike seat, turns out the way she’s shaped, she needed a smaller bike seat. She has no problems with fatigue anymore! *A huge HELLO to everyone! PJTP: DH made it home from the Santa Barbara fire on Sat and was able to have his regular 4 days off when he was released Sun AM. Nice to have him home but his days off seemed so short! He's back at work today. Headed in for a fill tomorrow. Was scheduled to go in next Wed but with all the b-day stuff for DD next week, figured I'd better get that fill early! We're having a quiet weekend so that will help with the fill. I'll (hopefully) have myself all figured out by next week. Staying home for the weekend. Literally, other than church on Sun and visits to DH at the station, we're staying at home! We live in a tourist town with a nice lake 5 minutes away; a national park entrance 20 minutes away (and you have to drive right thru town to get to it); fantastic, easy to get to, camping, minutes up the road; and numerous, HUGE, popular community events. So, just as I do on July 4th and the days surrounding it, and Labor Day weekend, I stay HOME!! Here comes summer! Okay, gotta get. Have a great night everyone!

Anyone else NOT a fitness overachiever?!

Nope, I'm still walking virtually everyday. Just getting busy around here. Next week will be crazy with DD's 3rd b-day, with the party to follow on the weekend. B/c of next week, I bumped my fill appt up to tomorrow. Was supposed to go on Wed but I'll go tomorrow instead. That will take one thing off of next week! Luckily the party isn't at our house but my mom and her BF will be staying here so I still have to find time to clean this place up! LOL! Have a great weekend!

    Throwing Up Blood

Throwing up even once a day, is not normal. Throwing up blood is seriously not normal and very dangerous. Please get thee to a doctor ASAP!!! I'm hoping because you haven't posted again today, that means you got to your doctor or an emergency room. Please let us know how you are doing and what happened. Take care and best wishes!
  11. I'm with Kaiser so no, in answer to your question BUT I've heard excellent things about Dr. Felix! As excellent as any surgeon may be recommended, it's always about how you feel about the doctor's management of you and your health, his office staff and how you think the after-care is going to go. Do your research and BEST WISHES!!!

The counselor needs to be fired! I'd complain to the powers that be at the hospital! That was SO unkind and uncaring! Sheesh! She might as well have ripped out your heart with her bare hands! You are in NO WAY ready to even THINK about this, you need time to heal, both physically and emotionally but when the time comes, please look to your heart about adoption. You mentioned that the doctors are advising against another pregnancy and you will need to pursue that line of thought first. But you also mentioned how scared you and your husband are about further pregnancies and were so scared for this one. Adoption wouldn't be a second choice for you and your family but another choice in expanding your family. There are Fost/Adopt programs as well as private agency adoption and domestic and international adoption. I hesitate to even put this out there because I don't want you to think I'm telling you to "move on already!" I'm not. You need to take as long as YOU need, to heal from the trauma of your lost baby. I'm mentioning this only to give you options when the time is right for you and your husband to decide what you want to do as far as expanding your family or if you even decide too. I'm an adoptive mom, if you couldn't tell already! LOL! We went through YEARS of infertility testing and procedures only to find failure after failure. I was NEVER able to get pregnant. We wanted a family and we chose a different path to making that happen than the regular biological way. We now have a beautiful [almost] 3 year old daughter. Best thing we've ever done for our family! I had to go through a lot of grief before I could move on to the thought of adoption as did my husband. But we are glad we got there! Continued prayers for your healing. Hugs.

I am so sorry that you are having to go through this. And to have to go through it alone. My heart aches for you. What you are experiencing is perfectly normal and you shouldn't suppress your feelings (except maybe in front of your son). Try to take good care of yourself, heal physically, and work to heal emotionally. Take care and if you don't mind, I'll add you to my prayers. Hugs.
  14. Solaray makes the chewable Biotin that I use. I really like it. I need to check out their website and see what other stuff they have!

    Hello from central California

How exciting! :purplebananna: Hang in there! It's so hard when you don't have restriction! I go in on the 27th for another fill. I'm hungry again! I'm hoping I don't gain too much between now and then! Take care!
  16. How far out from surgery are you? The pain went away fairly quickly. It was b/c I was trying to catch my DD and I'm sure I pulled some stitches. My port actually moves now. Dr can manipulate it with his fingers. Really strange! If I bend over wrong it feels like it's trying to flip but when I stand up, it pops back in to place. Dr can still access it for fills so we're not worried about it. Once he can't access it, then we'll have to do a revision. I'm hoping that never happens! :Banane01: Anyway, if you're not healing from surgery and it's been awhile, I'd call my doc. You need to let him know what's going on and find out if it's anything to worry about. If you ARE healing from surgery and it seems to be pretty often that you're feeling this, I'd still call him. At the very least, everything is fine and it will relieve you mind but if there is a problem, it gets resolved quickly. Best wishes and let me know what you find out! Take care!
  17. Pill form is a problem as you get restriction b/c they WILL get stuck! I had an emergency unfill after getting my (small) BP pill stuck and throwing up for 36hrs! NOT FUN!!! I quarter it in order to take it. As far as Vitamins go - I take the children's gummies. I buy bulk at costco (lg bottle). I take 2 in the AM and 2 in the afternoon/evening and all my blood work comes back great so I must be doing something right. I also get the Costco brand (Kirkland) calcium chews. They're sugar free too! Chewable or liquid form is also better absorbed from what I understand.

    Friday Morning Weigh-In May 15, 2009

Yea, I might have to go back to tracking. I dropped 1.3lbs overnight! Literally! Weighed 182.8 yesterday AM and weighed 181.5 this AM!! HOW is that possible?! I ATE right before bed last night too! I even ate pizza last night! Granted it was a veggie, no cheese, thin crust, white sauce but still! And I finished it off before bed! It was a small personal size so not a huge thing and the slices were small but still PIZZA!!! My problem with the tracking is all the homemade food I make. I just don't have time to use the recipe builder on everything and some stuff I don't have portion sizes for b/c I make it up! Guess I'll just have to figure out how to make it work. I have no idea what my calorie intake is or output with my walking. I just don't understand the overnight WL tho! That's HUGE! I don't expect to be able to keep it for the week, tho it would be nice.

Ladies and Gents... what DO U LOVE???

Brad, I want to disagree with you for just a sec. I don't usually, so this is new! LOL! And it's only partly a disagreement! :grouphug: I think casual walking at first is okay. If it gets you off your butt and out of the house or office, then by all means, GET OUT THERE! Now, if that's ALL that's happening after awhile then, no, it's not okay for weight loss and general health. Continue to casual walk after awhile only if there is other exercise going on. When I first started walking, all it could be was casual. I was too out of shape and that made my exercise induced asthma kick in. After a bit tho, I was going further and faster. By this time I was putting DD in her stroller so I could actually get a workout instead of doing a stroll thru the neighborhood when she was walking with me. So to a certain extent that's where I beg to disagree with you. Later tho, I totally agree with you! Amy, you've got to make time to do it. I KNOW it's hard! I schedule things around my walks. I have to or it doesn't happen. I've got a 3 yr old (well she will be in another 1 1/2 weeks!) and am pretty much a single parent when DH is at work (he's a fireman and right now has been on a fire for the last 10 days.) and I have NO one that I can just leave her with and go work out so I have to figure it out for myself and I have. I throw her in the stroller and she and the dog go with me. Try to come up with ways to make it happen! Get creative! As far as the energy, it's different for everyone. Best wishes!

Ladies and Gents... what DO U LOVE???

I've discovered I love to walk! I live in the mountains and walk my neighborhood. It's very hilly and at 1.5 miles round-trip, it's a good workout for me right now. [i'm pushing my 35lb 3 year old in her stroller with the dog on her leash.] I hope to start adding another (the final) road to my walk a couple of days a week, next month. That will add another mile and the hills on that road are the hardest hills of any I do now. DD will start preschool next month, a few days a week and it's on a couple of those days that I'll leave my aging dog home and do the extended walk by myself. I'm soooo not ready to push the stroller that far or up those hills yet! LOL! I never thought I'd actually get into this! I just started getting out there b/c I hate my treadmill [treadmills in general] and needed to DO something! Now I get soooo pissy if I can't get out there almost everyday or if it doesn't go right! It's come down to needing to do this now. I try my darndest to get out there every day. I actual schedule things to leave my AMs free in order to be able to get out for my walk and get back in time to get cleaned up before having to leave the house. The only day I don't consistently do is Sundays b/c of church. When it's cooler out, I go after we get back but with the heat coming on, I wont be able to do that as often as I'll want. Monday-Saturday tho, it's all about my walks if I can make it happen! Okay, this is how bad [good?] I've gotten about walking. Saturday I will be walking in the middle of the afternoon for Relay for Life and I've already planned that I'll be doing my regular walk in the neighborhood in the AM. The afternoon track walking will just be a major bonus for me that day! Just try a lot of different things for a few weeks at a time and see what sticks! You may be surprised at what it is. I know I was! Best wishes!!
  23. I only take the HCTZ and was told to take it the morning of surgery with as little Water as possible. After surgery, everything was still so asleep that I had to go by the clock, cause I wouldn't think about it and didn't want to get an infection. My HCTZ doesn't affect me like that anymore unless I haven't taken it for a couple of days. I don't crush pills so I quarter this one and it's small enough to go through.

Drive by: OMGosh! I just spent an arm and a leg! I need to invest in Target and Oriental Trading stock. Sheeesh!!! DD's 3rd b-day is in 2 weeks and her b-day party is the saturday after. Of course what I wanted at Target isn't at the stores and the shipping was almost as much as the merch! THEN gotta buy all the goodies for the party and OT has the best prices for what I was looking for. Here come the puppy dogs! Yikes! She picked a Bolt theme and I'm adding other puppies to round things out. Well, on the positive side, DH has 4 days of overtime so far being on the Santa Barbara fire (still there!), so the overtime will pay the cc bill when it comes in another month! I'm exhausted and heading to bed! 'Night all!
