Oh. Wow....
-
Yeah, we live literally 5 minutes from the lake. No problems there! LOL! My theory is they don't eat much b/c they don't expend much energy! LOL! Have you ever seen a Newfie go any where FAST??!! LOL!! Unless there's water involved! Have fun on your trips!! Pulling for you! Best wishes and LOTS of prayers! OH NO HE DID NOT!!!!!! And you let him LIVE???!!! If DH said that to me, he'd better have, in his hand, the money for my boob job. Course I want one anyway so that would just be a good excuse! LOL! I'm so sorry! I HATE bouncing lbs!! I would think that just drinking a lot of water with your meds would wash them thru to your stomach. Maybe? Yikes! You're braver than I am! Course I had my eyeliner tattooed, so what am I talking about??!! You have the wedding YOU want!! It's not up to anyone but you and DH and maybe DD. UGH!!! Glouc, your mother makes ME want to scream! LOL! What gets me tho is this concerns your DD's health and yet she's willing to jeopardize that for some sick sense of self. So wrong! How's your neck today? Hi Susan!! Best wishes on the packing and moving!! YOU GO GIRL!! Sorry about the DBB! UGH! Yeah, I saw this too. Not changing a thing. So sorry about your losses. Very nice you two were able to get out of town to decompress! Oh, that's so sad! What kind of got me the other day tho was that I heard that what's-his-name finally proposed to her the other day in the hospital and they were going to tie the knot when she was feeling better. Ummm, okay, only NOW that she's near death, you're going to propose? I'm probably taking it totally out of context but heard on the news that's what he said in some interview he'd just done. AND why was he giving interviews and not by her bedside? Okay, guess that made me mad! LOL!! PJTP: Yesterday had a fill appt at 4:30. DH and I were then going to run errands and since it was going to be a late evening, we got a sitter for DD. So. We get in my truck and head down the hill. Biggest town is 1hr away, surgeon, major shopping, etc. Halfway down the hill, truck starts acting up. Now mind you, this is the family rig, we always drive this first. We'd taken DD to school, run errands, gone home, picked DD up, gone home, picked sitter up, gone home, then headed down, with NO indication of trouble. So we turned around and limped it home. Now it's sitting in the driveway til we can get it to the shop next week. DH went to work this AM so we can't get it there til then. UGH!!! Had to call and cancel my appt. We decided to go back down in another vehicle and run our errands anyway since we already had the sitter. Today I'm waiting for the nurse to call me back so I can reschedule the appt. Doesn't look like I'll be able to get in until around the 15th now. We'll see what she says. This was another nurse saying that this AM. I'm bummed. I needed that fill. Oh well. I'll just have to be careful for a few weeks, til I can get in. Hate that tho. Double-bummed since my truck is down too! AND I gotta get it repaired and pay for it!! AND both trucks need to be registered by the end of the month! YUCK!!!!!!!! So much for the overtime check DH just got. I had other plans for that check that did not include truck repairs!!! Okay, gotta go! TTFN!

Congratulations!!!!!

I forgot to add: Plain, I'm also very envious b/c you have a Newfie and I want one SO bad!!!! LOL! They are SUCH great dogs!!!! Have a great night!!
-
I didn't actually rip it off, thank GOD!! But I did pull it back some. Still hurts and I keep hitting it which doesn't help!!! UGH! That sucks!! I'm so sorry! I used the BMI chart and what I weighed when I graduated from HS and kinda went from there. I'm 40 (almost 41) and graduated at 120lbs. I'll never see that number again so I kinda went up from there. I also have it in my head that I may need to adjust higher depending on how I look and feel but I'd still like to be low 140s to high 130s if possible. I'm 5'3" btw. That's too bad. How hot does it get down there? We will hit highs of 100 up here but it's pretty rare and never for more than a few days, if that long. Most times it's 80s to low 90s, with some lower and higher temps. Our dog has the run of the house and can go out on the deck whenever she wants, so that's how we'd work it with any other dog we have. AC clicks on automatically at 80 unless we turn it down ourselves. I think a Newf would be okay. I know there have been some that lived up here. No it was a Nor Cal Newf group that also did rescues. People getting dogs they knew nothing about and/or never trained, etc. I did go online the other day and do a search and there is only one rescue group in CA, it's in So Cal and it's an all giant breed rescue. Run by Burt Ward and his wife Tracy (Robin from Batman TV series). So we do have possibilities in that area. We'd have to drive all the way down to Norco which is like 6 hrs or so! Yikes! And their fees are super steep, tho understood, $500-$1000 depending on what they've had to expend with the dog. They're a non-profit. Of course buying a dog from a breeder if even more! I'd rather rescue tho just b/c a dog needs a home and we've always rescued, so it's preferred for us. And yeah, cloth diapers will work great as drool rags! LOL!!! Hi BBK!!! I can NOT imagine you at 142! There'd be NOTHING left!!!! According to your ticker, you're 160 something, if I remember right and based on your pics, I think you're fine where you are! That's why I left room in my head for adjustments as I go. I just don't know what things are going to look like as I get further down. The BMI charts are really off-base but it and my HS weight gave me a place to start. And who knows, maybe I will get to 120 someday and be fine there! I wasn't too skinny back then based on pics but with age and time, who knows! LOL!! Come visit more often!!!! You're missed!! PJTP: DD is in the tub and having a grand ol' time! LOL! Nearly bedtime so it might be tough to get her out! Better get to it! Have a great night all!! TTFN!

*Ebony, sorry about your friend's emergency but thank GOD she's okay now. Prayers for continued healing! *g4e, hope the doc can help. Don't worry about complaining! *Tap, sounds like you had a wonderful and productive day! Sorry about the snake scare! Probably a garden snake. They're actually good to have around. They eat bugs and mice. *Fanny, sorry about the house! That sucks!!!! Prayers that the perfect buyer shows up and SOON! The python that you want to get is beautiful! *Lu, happy birthday!!!! *As far as credit goes, we have 1 card that we want to cancel but we're afraid too b/c it's probably going to drop our rating. Ticks me off! We do everything right and it goes against us. This one cc already dropped our limit and I KNOW that had to affect it. We've never run that card up, don't even use it and haven't for a long time and have NEVER requested that they keep raising it like they did and now it's going to bite us in the butt! UGH!! PJTP: Having a hard time typing. First finger on my left (dominant) hand is in pain! Putting DD's shoes on and went to help her with the velcro straps and somehow ended up pulling the nail back over the quick! UGH!!! Started bleeding and now it's still throbbing! Gotta make a grocery list and head to the store either later today or in the AM after dropping DD off at preschool. Have a great rest of the day!!! TTFN!

That is WONDERFUL news!!!!! Prayers that the new promotion comes through for you!!!!

Anyone else NOT a fitness overachiever?!
heartfire replied to JuneAct2's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Oh my gosh! Fifteen days since I posted! Not good! Well that motivation bug finally got me completely. On the 6th, I got out and walked and then didn't get back out there again until this past Monday! Eight days of no walking! NOT GOOD!! And it showed when I started back up again on Monday. It KILLED me!!! I so wanted to turn around and go home! Even the dog was struggling b/c it'd been 8 days since she'd been out for a walk too! I can't do that to either one of us again. Not worth it! So, I've been out there everyday this week, except for today BUT that was b/c we were leaving early for a church outing to a mining museum and I was going to be walking a lot today. Tomorrow is church, so most Sundays end up a day off. If it's not too hot tho, may get out there in the afternoon after we get back. Definitely getting out there on Monday tho! So, where is everyone?! Post up people!!! Don't leave me hangin' here all by myself!! LOL!! -
Hello from central California
heartfire replied to amandastephens's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Oh my gosh! This is so exciting!! So surgery does all the referrals now? Once I started class, my PCP did all of them. It was no biggie and he was on board completely so he was willing to do what he needed to do for me but this is cool! And you're right, we need to get together soon. It may end up August at this point! LOL! You have a great weekend too. Talk to you soon! -
Just wanted to share my stupidity!
heartfire replied to travelinsnorkel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh No!!!!! So sorry you had to go thru that! There have been times when I thought I was eating slow enough only to figure out too late, that I wasn't. Sucks!!! Glad you're okay now tho. -
Beth, LOL! Get thee some new blades when you start working again! Hey! You EXERCISED!!!! Congrats!! Mac, it's hard to catch up sometimes isn't it? YIKES! PJTP: Probably not going to get the dog. Unless I can find him on Petfinders when they post him at the end of the week. Maybe once they've assessed the dog, it's a lot of the unknowns that are scaring us, and see a picture, then maybe we'll revisit it. Interesting tho, last night went to my BF's house for a Silpada jewelry show and the rep that was there said if I ever wanted a GP to let her know. She has 2 from her dad. He uses them for his goat and sheep herds! They have a hard time finding homes for the pups when there's a litter! OMG!!!! Told DH and I know he's working it out in his head how to make it work for us. Probably not any time TOO soon but we'll see. Our first pick is still a Newfie tho. We just love 'em. We've tried to rescue one but the local rescue group, meaning northern CA, has NEVER gotten back to me. Irritates me on that score. I mean, why get a pup for a pet when you can RESCUE one and give a guy a good home that needs one? Anyway. Had a FUN day today. Went to a local, okay, well next town over, almost 30 minutes away, mining museum. I live in Gold Country. DD and I picked up my BF and her 2 kids and we went. It was a church family outing. A couple of the members are affiliated with the museum and they had everything open for us for the day. They also bbq'd lunch for us and had ice cream for dessert. We panned for gold and wandered around and went thru the museum and one of the famous, for the area, houses. Spent the whole day out there. DD did great and had a fun time. She crashed on the way home. I had to run to the grocery store after we dropped everyone off and getting her out of the truck is what finally woke her up. Tonight she'll end up playing in her bed for awhile after bedtime. Last night she was out in less than 10 minutes. I like those nights! LOL! Went way over my calories today. Hopefully it's not too damaging! Yesterday was way under my calories. Just not hungry. Today, starving!! Crazy how that all works. We'll see what happens tho. Maybe it'll even itself out between the 2 days. You think? LOL! Okay, time for DD to get to bed. Have a good night!! TTFN!

Anyone taking Biotin for their hair?
heartfire replied to MissMe27's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yep and it works great for GROWING more hair. It won't help you keep it! I was losing hair big time and had little ones growing in on top! LOL! What it has done is keep the hair that I have growing and am growing more and it's all a little faster. I've stopped losing hair now BTW. It's back to the normal loss that I had before surgery. I take a chewable that I get at my little local health store. It's by Solar Ray. You can google it. Not sure on the spelling, if it's 1 word with only 1 R or 2 words. They have a line of supplements so they should pop up. Have you tried the Vitamin store? I don't know if they have it or not. I don't have any of those near me. Closest is 1 hr away, but my little health food store is great. She even ordered me some chewable Iron to try! See if you have a little local shop somewhere. -
Glouc, I don't have any helpful advice. I just wanted to let you know that you have my support in whatever you decide to do. I know you've had "issues" with her before and that is seems never-ending. Maybe it's time for that to change. Best wishes and lots of prayers.
-
Hang in there and DO NOT give in to him!!! You worked hard to get out of there, you stayed in a shelter for an extended time and are now in your own apartment. You and your boys are safe. Are you going to give all of that up for his promises? Ones that he's broken before? He's already showing his hand, blaming you for everything in counseling, seeing you continue to lose weight and yet accusing you of seeing someone! Puuullllleeeeeezzzzz!!!!!! There will be no changes with him. And if I'm correct, he's already making plans on how to make you pay once he's got ahold of you and the boys again. Stay strong, stay on course and keep being the greatest mama you know how to those two precious boys!!!! Many prayers to you and your boys!
-
Hi Tamara! I had mine done with Kaiser too! I went to Fresno tho. Richmond or S. San Francisco will probably be closer to you. That and Fremont. Just wanted to say welcome!
-
Yea, we've researched the breed. They're great dogs. Talked to the gal by phone and I'm not sure he's GP after all. He's at least of mix of maybe that and probably Lab. Which would be good too. He looks just like a GP except he's black and short hair! LOL! She says he's a sweetheart. No food issues, leash, potty and pen trained. And she said he's probably less than 2 years old, intact and his dewclaws haven't been removed. Whomever his owner is/was, they were irresponsible. Animal Control has probably picked him up at this point. She kept saying SPCA but we don't have an organized one up here, getting there but it's AC she called. They did tell her that they'd keep him for 5 days to give his owner a chance to find him then they'd put him up on Petfinders. DH isn't going to go for it, I don't think. We'll see. Maybe I can talk him in to driving down to see him at the shelter or taking a look once he's on PF. Fantastic news!! Please keep us posted as to how he is doing. I've been wondering too.

Consider it kicked! So. What have you done today? I got out and walked with the kiddo and dog this AM. It was 8AM and already pushing 75! Yuck! Gonna be hot today! NICE!!! Let's hope THAT continues! WHOOHOO!!!!! Did the same with FB. It freaked me out a little! Little babies are so cute! So glad your tummy is all better! Hooray!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! WHOOHOO! Lots of prayers that it goes well! Where do you get these? That was nice. Okay, so it's not as hot as where you are! Yikes! Welcome back and best wishes on the testing today! NOT going to be watching that one! That's really great of him. *Ebony, hope you're having a good day today!!! PJTP: Okay y'all, I need a dose of reality. There is a local forum that I'm on and in another neighborhood about 20 minutes from me, just down the hill, one of the regulars posted that there is a male, black, Great Pyrenees running around. Neighbors have been posting signs, calling vets, etc. trying to find his owners. He's a nice guy, likes to hang out at a house for a few days, then moves on, is leash trained and has a collar but no tags. Typical for up here. I'm actually surprised he even has a collar. Anyway, she was posting that she was going to call the SPCA and have him picked up. I posted this AM that we might be able to take him. <sigh> I'm crazy! That's all there is to it! We already have a dog. We have almost 2 acres but no fencing. Our dog lives inside and on the deck. She goes on my walks with me. I'm freaking out now! We've always wanted a Pyrenees, so we know what we're getting ourselves into as far as that goes. We also want to get a Newfoundland someday too! And I like Neo Mastiffs and Great Danes too! Can we say BIG dogs! LOL! BUT to rescue an unknown dog. Is he okay with kids and other dogs, etc.? He does sound like a love. The gal got out of her car last night and he about licked her to death. So that's good, right? Anyway, it may be a non-issue. She was going to call and have him picked up this AM and I posted up just before lunch. She hasn't even seen my post yet. So, I don't know. Prayers maybe for this dog. That if he has been picked up, he finds a great home. Or if he's for us, that it all works out and everything is okay. We've always rescued our dogs and we take it very seriously. This is an animal's life and we aren't ones to say "oh well" and move on by just sacrificing the new dog or the one(s) we already have. I'll let you know what happens. TTFN!

edel, it might have been me, tho not sure. I know we were talking about it on another thread at one point. It has become vital to log my food on dailyplate. I can't NOT do it! My problem has been grabbing whatever when getting DD food. Or walking by her plate/bowl of whatever and taking some to pop in to my mouth. It truly adds up! It is SO shocking! The other day I grabbed one of her triscuit crackers. Well, a serving is 6 crackers and 120 calories! Well, I just, without thinking, had 1/6 of a serving! That cracker cost me 20 calories!!!!! I also will log stuff in first, then go eat it. Making adjustments later if I need too. Keeps me on a better track and without getting carried away with, say, cheese, only to have to "pay" for it later. Good for you for figuring out what was going on with your process and making the necessary changes to fix it!

Friday Morning Weigh-In June 19, 2009
heartfire replied to Shamrockgirl60's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Stayed the same and I'll take it! Gained 5lbs of Water weight overnight after forgetting my BP med one day. It's a diuretic too. Managed to get back to where I was last week by this AM but can tell I'm still bloated. We'll see what happens this week. I go for another fill on Wednesday. He's not going to be happy. He wanted me to lose 6lbs. Ain't gonna happen! -
I stayed the same. I have to say tho, I'm okay with that. I forgot to take my BP pill the other day and gained 5lbs!!! It's all Water weight but it takes a couple of days to get back off. I'm still bloated and can feel it but I did manage to get back down to last week's weight. Goals: July 4th - 179 Aug 28th - 170 I seriously am not sure if I can make these or not. Have a great week everyone!!!

Debbie, so sorry you even have to deal with this in these supposedly Enlightened years! My aunt and uncle experienced a lot of racism when they lived in So Cal. She's white, he's black. Now they live back east and it's not as bad but still does exist way more than it should. I worry about DD too. She's tri-racial, mexican, italian and black. She's 3 and as an infant there were a couple of times I got dirty looks while carrying her. Pity for them. She's a great kid! I just assume these people are ignorant and don't have anything better to do! And it's obvious that she's adopted. You really can't get much whiter than DH and I! Both european decent. And yet people will ask if she was adopted! More often than not tho, we get the "oh is she yours?" question. What does irritate me tho is when people comment on some "feature" that we share. "OH she has your eyes, nose, ect." Ummm, no she doesn't! She looks like herself and is a combination of her birthparents and that is to be celebrated!!! Although I have to admit, in some ways, she is very much like me in personality! LOL! We're butting heads over a few of those likenesses! Anyway, I do hope that DD doesn't have to deal with too much racism tho in reality, I do know that WE will have to deal with it at points along her life. I just pray it's few and far between and not too horrifying. Best wishes to you!

Well, HI to you too! Glad to see you again! NOT adding FB to my list of things I need to do on a daily basis! LOL! Bunco game explanation below. Yep, I'm getting there. And just as the weather is heating up too! BAD timing! LOL! So glad you had a PB-free day! Let's hope that continues!! Tap and Susan, Bunco is a dice game! There are slightly different versions of play but basically all pretty much similar. Here's how we do it. There are 12 ladies and we each host a month. I do July. We have 3 tables of 4 players. The person across from you is your partner. Each table has 3 dice. There is a head table and they control the game. As soon as the head table reaches 21 points, the bell rings and we switch tables or seats. Losers stay and one moves to another seat to await the winners from another table. We each pony up $5 for the pot. We play 3 rounds of 6 games. Okay, so when the head table rings the bell to start the game, you start rolling dice. Start with #1 and you're trying to roll as many 1s as possible. As long as you roll 1s you keep rolling til no 1s come up, dice move on to next player. If you roll three 1s you get a BUNCO and it's worth 21pts. If you roll three of any other number it's called a travel and it's worth 5pts. For the game you and your partner are keeping a score of your total, each person has an overall game scoresheet that we carry around with us. As you roll buncos or travels, those are also marked on your own scoresheet as well as your game wins and losses. When a team at the head table reaches 21 first, the bell rings and game over. Team who has the highest score at each table, moves to the next table, losers stay for another round but one changes chairs so you get a new partner. At the end of the 3 rounds, each person then tallies up their total buncos, travels, wins and losses. In our group, person with most buncos wins $25, most wins $20, most travels $10 and most losses, you get your $5 back! It's so NOT hard to play and is a lot of fun and everyone is talking and playing and just enjoying themselves. THAT WOULD TICK ME OFF!!!!! Sounds like a great trip! Beautiful house! Love the style of it!!! Okay, so now it's your turn to re-commit to yourself and get your butt out there! What say you? Hang in there, Ebony. Prayers that this comes thru for you!! What she said! So glad you're home and so glad you're LOVING it!! Congrats on being done! Are you done just for tonight or are you DONE with the class?!! Have a great Thursday!! 'Night!!!
-
But didn't you know? It's ALWAYS the parents' fault!! LOL! That's why there's so much therapy! Welcome back!! Sorry you're sick tho. :frown: So sorry to hear about your mom. It's hard when you're so far away! I hope everything went well. Let us know! OH MY GOSH! That is horrible! Prayers for all of you and their families! Oh good! Prayers that things continue to relax and you get better soon! Never had 'em. Always wanted to try them. Such spectacular, wonderful, fantastic, amazing news! Prayers that you hear positive news ASAP!!!! Whoo Hoo!! Sounds like you're having fun! HI!! Gorgeous baby!! LOL! Considering that the nearest Wal Mart is ONE HOUR from my house and it SUCKS!!! then yes, I'd forget about it!! LOL!!! I do shop in Wal Marts in other areas and those have always been fine. And my MIL is a dept. manager at one. Hers isn't too bad but still drives me nuts! LOL! I'm not sure if that helps or not! :wink2: Ummm, excuse me younger-than-me-by-one-year man! I think I'm offended! Thank you!!! LOL!!! PJTP: UGH! What a couple of days it's been! Had a meeting in the city last night. Left DD home with sitters/friends. We didn't get home til after 10 and DD had only been asleep for about 1/2 an hour. But she WAS asleep and so that was good! DD started Preschool today! Summer session at our church. She wasn't going to start til fall but they decided to do a summer session so we signed her up. She LOVES it!! We'll see how much she still likes it after a week or two of going 3 days a week for 3 1/2 hrs a day! LOL! Tonight had Bunco at a friend's house. So fun! It's at my house next month! I'm going to need at least a couple of subs if any of y'all wanna come play!! None of us slept good last night so we're exhausted. DD went down fairly easy tonight and I'm headed to bed soon. Note to Beth, got back out in the neighborhood and walked yesterday and today! UGH!! Totally regretting the 8 days of not walking tho! The 2 days back have about killed me!! YUCK!! Okay, I'm outta here! 'Night!!
-
She knew what she was doing when she moved. I forgot about Wal Mart. I've heard they have a good selection. That would totally tick me off! Very frustrating! Hate to say it, Ebony, but life lessons sometimes suck! She may grow up in a hurry with this one. It would be wonderful if she can make it work, I hope she can, but community college isn't a bad idea right now either. Sorry you've got so much stress right now. Some days are like that! Tough to get motivated sometimes! Were you able to get anything done after all? That's a good idea, Beth. You're so smart! It would save money by going local and inexpensive and yet give EVERYONE time to make plans and get ready for the big move.
-
Sorry, Fanny! LOL! As for me, I'm trying to cut back some on computer time. It doesn't always work but I'm trying. And trust me, my life usually has NO drama and I prefer to keep it that way, so I'm no fun to live vicariously thru anyway!!!! Not a dumb question at all! I shop at Raley's and they have only one brand and about 3 flavors including plain and that's it. They keep it on the very top shelf above all the other yogurt. I know where to look and it still takes me a minute to find it! Other stores may have it in their Natural/Organic Foods section, whatever they call it, and again near the regular yogurt. Trader Joe's, if you have one near you, has a huge selection of Greek Yogurt. Their prices are very reasonable, [i can actually get more for $40 there, than I can at Raley's!] and you don't have to buy the big carton at Costco. I love Costco but there are just some things I can't buy there. I'll never eat it fast enough! Whole Foods would have it too, if you have one of those near you. Watch them tho, they're pricey for regular shopping. Great selection, but Yikes! I don't like most yogurt and only a little at a time. I really LIKE greek yogurt! I understand it's very rarely like TRUE greek yogurt, but I don't have the texture problems with it like I do the regular. Hope this helps. And I hope you can find some. It's really worth a try! Oh and another thing, if you do smoothies and such, go ahead and get the big carton of plain at Costco and put it in your smoothies. You can also just have a bowl of it with some fruit and a smidge of honey along with some granola or dry cereal and have a great breakfast. You can also use plain greek yogurt in place of recipes that call for regular plain yogurt or sour cream. Like when making dips and stuff. Oh! Oh! Just remembered this! Made this awhile ago and had forgotten about it. Take plain greek yogurt, chopped/torn cilantro, little chili powder, lime juice and mix to your taste. Makes a great add on to fish/shrimp tacos. Would probably work with shredded chicken tacos too. And it's pretty healthy! And one day I had left over shrimp for lunch and instead of cocktail sauce, used this dip and it was SO good! Would be good on salad or other veggies. Ohhhh, cucumber slices! UGH! Too bad I didn't think of all of this at the STORE! Not going back til next week!!!!!!! Anyway. PJTP: Got the grocery shopping done and walked out with only 3 bags and not even full ones at that and it still cost over $80!!! Yikes! $12 in chicken alone! I've gotta make a run to Costco. I buy the frozen bags there and then I have chicken whenever I want it and am not paying regular store prices for it! On a good note tho, I have meals planned thru Wednesday. Well, that's it for my boring life! LOL! 'Night all!!
