That SUCKS!! And he's a liar and a thief! She's 3. She's funny tho b/c after we talked about it... again, she was role playing like the lady was asking her if she wanted the bottled water and she says, "just minute." Looks at me and asks if she can have that. I said yes. Then she "looks" back at the lady and she's says, "yes I'd like popcorn too!" All the while with a huge cheshire grin on her face! I just gave her a "look" and she grinned harder! Little sh!t knows better too! LOL!! No, no, no judgement. I know what you're saying. We were watching her like a hawk and she really was just taking one at a time a chewing carefully but still. But you are right, I should have just dropped it all and grabbed it out of her hand or had her hand it over. I just think I was so shocked that it even happened that I just didn't think about it. No killing here. It was a long time before I could get DH to let her eat almonds! Don't even get me started with the grapes or the hot dogs! Part of the problem too is that she will stuff her mouth til she's literally holding her food in with her fingers while chewing it! DH will just very recently give her ONE piece if he gets popcorn at the theater. But he inspects it carefully and watches her like a HAWK! In all honesty, I think it's a little over the top BUT he's also a 25 year career fireman and has seen a lot of stuff involving kids. He's insistent on it and I'm not going to go behind his back. I've been able to get him to relax on the grapes and hot dogs and almonds and we'll see on the popcorn. He's already kinda budging a smidge on that but still... Jeez, you shoulda seen him when she was a baby! Yikes! I was waiting for him to come home with a helmet and padding to wrap her up in! I thought I was going to be the tight-a$$ in the family! Nope! It's DH!! LOL! Poor little guy! We are so blessed that DD doesn't have any allergy stuff, food or otherwise! She likes her veggies and loves fruit too! WhooHoo! Doesn't much care for ice cream but watch out with the candy! No, not at all! I actually wouldn't have a problem with it either (supervised, like you said), at this point, last year, yes. But it's those little, hard kernel things where they open up that can be bad too. I'm always choking on that stuff! GROSS! Glad you made HIM clean it up! Yikes! LOL! Our last dog was a trash can too! Holy moly!! DH had a lab mix when we met, that ate an entire box of see's candy she "found" on the dining room table. Not sick at all. Now, almost dead? Yes b/c DH's mom wanted to KILL that dog! She (dog) was so funny! Had an iron gut, would eat all manner of gross and disgusting things but if you gave her left-over stew, when you came to retrieve the bowl, it was licked clean including the green peas! Left intact on the bottom of the bowl! LOL!! :eek: ~I did call the real estate office today to let them know that as nice as that was, it was NOT a good idea! The gal I talked too has an early child development degree and got where I was coming from and understood, or so she said. Anyway, I was very nice and told her in all honesty it pissed me off and now I've got a battle on my hands with my 3 year old. Also mentioned the food allergy thing b/c you NEVER know! She said that they would talk about it b/c really I did bring up a great point about asking PARENTS before asking CHILDREN if they can have something. Who knows if it'll go anywhere. And I could have been talking to the same lady from last night for all I know! LOL! BUT I did make my point and I really DO hope that they will pay attention to it. AND I really WAS nice about it!! :crying:

LOL! But fruit is SOOOO good for you!!! ~~~~~~~~~ PJTP: okay I have a rant. Yes, here I go again. But it's STILL bugging me! Mainly b/c I'm still fighting DD on it! So, last night, before dinner, we went to the lake to the farmer's market that's held every Wed. evening. There is a real estate group that hands out little bags of free popcorn and bottles of water, all with their labels on it, as well as pamphlets, etc. Great. Have at it! Well, we always avoid this booth b/c of the popcorn. Last night they were set up right next to the fruit booth and DH and I were getting bags of fruit while DD was standing next to us. I hear DD say something, then someone asking if she wants a bottle of water too. I'm all, WTH? Turn around, (this was kinda behind, kitty-corner to where we were standing) and the woman at the booth had handed DD a bag of popcorn and was now handing her a bottle of water!!! I asked what was going on and she says "oh, I gave her a bag of popcorn and water, is that okay?" By this time DH is turned around and wondering what the heck is going on too. I flat told her, (w/out raising my voice, which if she knew me would have been a HUGE clue as to how PISSED I was), "No. It's NOT okay. She's too young for popcorn, it's a choking hazard." UGH!!!! So we turn back around and DD has got a strangle-hold on her popcorn. DH and I have our hands full and can't take it away and there's nowhere to set anything to accomplish this! We finish up with the fruit and go back to the truck, all the while DD is grabbing popcorn out of her bag to get it in her mouth b/c she KNOWS we're taking it away as soon as we get to the truck! She actually handed it to me at the truck. Tells me I'm not a bad guy, Papa is! (LOL!) It was his rule to begin with and she REMEMBERED that! So we get home and she can't have her popcorn back, so battle. Later we talk about how someday when she's older (7) she can have popcorn any time she wants and how we now have to have a NEW rule that says she can't take ANYTHING (and we gave examples) from ANYONE w/out asking one of us first!! Today, we are STILL talking about the damn popcorn!!!!! She's mad b/c it got thrown away and she wants HER popcorn back! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm actually thinking of calling the office and talking to the broker/manager to just mention that they need to be careful when handing out their damn popcorn and how DARE they not ask the PARENTS first! Anyway, rant over!

Well, here I go again. Another long-a$$ post from me to catch up! I can't believe I missed this! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!! Yep, she's a stalker and she know how to push his buttons! Thank you. I am REALLY excited about the trip, just wish I could afford it! I never get very far with the 5-day either. :frown: WHOOHOO!!!!! Have fun with her! Hope she likes the new books! They've been going at it for awhile, in many threads. Can't understand why she wasn't banned too. She's just as bad as he is/was. Tho, admittedly, he's a bit more, umm, caustic, shall we say, than she is. Yep, doesn't have all of her cards anymore. Agree. And I really think he had some good things to say too. He was very supportive of people (most times) and even tho he lost his band, he really seemed to want it to work for others. Oh. Prayers that it is just residual from surgery. That would suck to have surgery only to have it worse than when you started. tho I have heard of that happening. Usually back or neck/shoulder stuff tho. Nah, I wouldn't bother. Well I would but I'm not normal and you really don't need too. You'll know if it's working by how you feel. Yep. :eek: I put a link in my last post from last night, a couple of pages back. ~TPG, I don't know if this is what did it but he and this Failure/Donna gal have been having go-rounds for awhile now. She just totally sets him off! It's weird b/c it's almost like she's got it in for him. He'll post something completely innocuous and she jumps in like he aimed the post at her! Well then he DOES aim his next post at her and completely goes off. She understands where I'm coming from (we were on food stamps at one point briefly when I was a kid) but looks at it as she is giving me this gift of a great trip (and badly needed down-time) and we're giving her the gift of time spent with us, her daughter and grand-daughter. I still have reservations but we ARE going. I just feel like extra baggage or whatever. Bugs the heck outta me!!! Had a good day today. We spent most of the day outside with DD playing and me reading a book and finally FINISHING it!!! It's only taken me a couple of months to get thru it! I used to be able to finish a book in a DAY if I had nothing going on, 3 days at the most. Well, a week if I was really busy! LOL! Post kiddo, sheesh! Oh! Funny but creepy story! Last night after DD had gone to bed, DH and I are sitting on the couch when we hear something hit the screen on the slider behind us. Couch is kind of in front of the slider but you can walk behind the couch and use the slider. We never go out there. There is a dog door panel in the slider for DDog. Well, it's a flippin' beetle! Okay, just to give you an idea, these things are huge! When I first saw them, I thought they were the Hissing Madagascar things! Seriously! These things are at least a couple of inches long and a good 1/2 inch + wide!!! Anyway, we ignore it and continue to read/watch TV. I hear the dog door flap moving. Thinking the dog is trying to come in, look down and the dog is laying at our feet! The BEETLE is trying to use the DOG DOOR to get in the house!!! :eek: :eek: :eek: I told DH if that thing gets in the house, I'm freaking out! He slides to door closed and closes the curtain over the entire door so the lights aren't shining out and pretty soon it moved off to a window. WHEW!!!! For some reason, these things just freak me out! They hiss at you and will try to hit you thru the screen if you try to flick 'em off (from the inside). I've had bats, snacks, lizards and all manner of bugs in my house but this would send me over the frickin' edge!! I do NOT want to have to deal with one of these things in my house. EVER!!! :eek:

I can pretty well control myself with those except to make a small plate of single layer nachos (chips, cheese, olives, salsa) once in awhile BUT I did have nachos late Sunday, DD had picked ruffles when we went to Yosemite the other day and then today DH bought the wavy lays and dip. So on top of mindlessly snacking, I also realized when I looked back, that I've not been getting all of my water in. I bloat really BAD if I don't get ALL of my water in, then add the extra salt I've been mindlessly eating and there ya go! If not for the chips, my eating would be really good. I try to really honestly LOOK at myself and try to figure out what I'm doing and why. I am REALLY stressed out right now. We need a new furnace. The tire thing. My job. The trip up north. DH's HUGE paycut coming Nov. 1st. That's the biggie. The State is going to cut his pay $600(!!!!) b/c they f'd up the state budget. We live pretty close to the bone as it is so this is huge for us and I'm in a panic. We haven't had to "worry" about money since DH was a seasonal and would get laid off every winter. Now we got a kid and a house, etc. Then my mom talked me into going on this trip up north for a family reunion, she's buying but still. DD and I are going to have to spend some money for the trip and I'm freaking out and wanting to cancel. I hate my job and want to quit but it does bring in $200 a month so can't quit right now. Can't go get a job b/c I wouldn't make enough to pay for child-care. Anyway, I'm flippin' out right now. Thank you all for the support and well-wishes re: my bandiversary! Re: the truck. It's Big O Tires so they have a corporate office and I'm thinking I'll also get in touch with the BBB. I've never done anything like this before so it should be interesting. And like I have a lot of time to deal with it too! LOL! Okay, I do feel a little better. Thank you! Just be forewarned (or is it already too late!), I'm going to be flippin' out a lot and y'all are gonna get the brunt of it! Sorry!! Other than all the tire stuff, DD and I had fun being outside today. We spent pretty much all morning out there and sat and had lunch out there too. Hi y'all!!! It's on a flat surface next to the toilet (only place I've got for it to set flat other than the entry way or the kitchen!) so that hasn't changed. Here's what I'm looking at: Sun: 176 (since Friday, no less!) Mon: 181 Tues: 178 WTF!!!!!!! It's fairly new but damn if I'm not going out to buy a new battery today. So pissed! THANK YOU! (That's when I blew the tire driving down the highway.) Anyway, since then the truck has needed an alignment and the tires have needed rotation and re-balancing... twice!!!! This is NOT normal!!!! I've NEVER had this sort of problem with tires before! Flippin' tires aren't going to last a year at this rate. They're already showing too much wear for their age. And I've NEVER thrown weights off of tires like we've been doing on these. GET THE DAMN WEIGHTS ON THERE SO THEY WILL STAY THERE!!!!! Sheesh!!! We don't put a lot of miles on my truck and we don't do a lot of off-roading (and haven't since the last round of re-dos) with this truck so it shouldn't be doing this. And we didn't have this problem with the old tires. It's only since getting the new tires at this place. This place sucks but we were stuck and had to go there and now we're paying for it! UGH!! <Rant off> Whew! I feel better! At least til DH gets home and tells me what happened! LOL! I hope y'all have great day! BBL!

Oh Tina! I'm so sorry you had to go thru all of that! Unfortunately with house stuff, it never ends. There's always something to forget! I can't get over your poor dog! And your other dog for having to deal with that too. You are so strong to go ahead and do what needed to be done for your baby. I'd like to seriously put a hurt on your ex but I've felt that way since the beginning! LOL! I am SO happy you've found a wonderful companion. Congratulations. You deserve it so much. DH's SIL (I refuse to claim her if I don't have to!) really needs to lose weight, and A LOT of it. She's younger than I am and has dangerously high BP that isn't even controlled with meds. Every time I see her, she's gained more weight. She and BIL do NOT know that I've had surgery and part of me wants to share in order to hopefully help her but in all honesty, any type of WLS wouldn't work for her. Her brain isn't in it. Her health is already dangerously compromised and she does nothing about it. It'd be different if she was trying and just struggling like so many of us over the years. But nope. She's one who would expect to not have to change anything and count on the surgery to do all the work. Not gonna happen. It's really sad. ~Woke up to RAIN!! You hear that Tap? We had rain! It was great! Rained all day and quite a bit of it too. Temps go back up tomorrow so we'll be humid for awhile now but today was great! ~Made the chicken and Sausage Gumbo tonight with the okra. I can take or leave it. The gumbo was really good but the slime from chopping up the okra kinda got to me after awhile. DH didn't really notice it but I already have issues with texture and stuff. So by the end, I was kinda done with the okra! I thought it would cook itself into the gumbo or something. Nope. We have decided that we'll keep the recipe but if we don't have okra, not gonna buy it to put in so I'll have to come up with 10oz of some other veggie to use instead. Or maybe I'll just add shrimp to it instead of another veggie. I'll have to think about that one. I'm tired. Off to bed. 'Night!

Oh I know y'all aren't drinking THAT much! LOL! I don't know where I got the fear of actually drinking. It's crazy. Like if I'm going to have one drink, there goes my weight for the entire week! I've become really paranoid about it! Need to get over that one! We are doing good. It's not the same when you're not here tho! I had just started getting worried when you didn't check in all week. Had just hoped that you would have been able to sooner. That's okay tho! TAKE CARE!!!!

We LOVE Hobo Stew! I've done it outside on the grill too so I don't even have to turn the oven ON! I dice the potatoes and carrots pretty small, easy to eat for my little one and it cooks faster. I put the veggies on the bottom, crumble the raw ground beef on top, seasoning each layer as I go, throw a dab or two of butter on top and wrap up tight! Good to go in no time! I will also throw in a variety of veggies too. Always onions, potatoes and carrots. Others I've been known to use would be garlic cloves, bell peppers- any color, mushrooms, broccoli, sweet potatoes (I'll leave out the reg potatoes if I use the sweets), cauliflower, beets, leaks, fennel bulbs, really anything I would roast in the oven or steam, I'll toss in the stew! The possibilities are endless! Oh cabbage is another good one too! Greens of any kind would work as well. We haven't done this in awhile. May be time again soon! Thanks for bringing it up!

Hi. I have Kaiser but in Northern California. Your best bet would be to call member services and/or the bariatrics department at the nearest facility to you. If you are on their website, you can probably find the nearest facility to you that does WLS surgeries. I had NO problems getting the surgery but I know that if I was in Southern California, I probably wouldn't have been able to get the surgery. They have different requirements. Ones I wouldn't have been able to meet, such as a BMI of 50! It seems every region of Kaiser may have different "rules" so it's best to check with your own region. Best wishes!! And welcome to LBT!!

Not going to make my goal of 170 by Tuesday. My new goal is to get to 175! I was 176.1 this AM so hoping to lose that lb by Tuesday. We'll see what happens. Don't want it to be a 175.6 or something but 175! I'll post back up on Tuesday! Best wishes y'all!!

Susan, don't know if you knew or not but she lost her internet and has been posting from her kids' house or the hospital but she hasn't been on at all since last weekend. :ohmy: That IS eerie! Stuff like that happens to me all the time. It always freaks me out a little. ~Kristen, I leave my hair down most of the time, or I pull the sides back to a clip. I will wear it in a pony tail or rolled up in a large clip sometimes but I can't leave it up too long or it stresses my head and I'll end up with a migraine. I've started wearing a braid more often tho. It doesn't seem stress my head as much. Probably b/c it's low on my head. My hair, when loose, is about where my bra strap sits, so kinda long and heavy. I don't eat popcorn. Not b/c I can't, (not sure), but b/c DH refuses to allow DD to eat it yet. Choking hazard. Sooo, I don't like to even have it in the house b/c I won't eat it while she's awake and after she's asleep, it's too late to eat anything. :tt2: Oh my gosh! Fanny! You look fabulous!! I love your taste in clothes but for me it scars the shit outta me! LOL! I don't know why but patterns scare me! I do have a skirt I love, the one that almost fell off at church last Sunday, but it's pretty rare for my closet. There are only a couple of things with patterns in there. I also worry about any drinking when I'm home alone with DD in case something happens and I've either gotta drive, be up with her during the night or whatever. Drinking and sleep go really well together for me! Okay, so I'm REALLY paranoid! LOL! Suggestions? Advice? Do you just not worry about the calories? I'm seriously asking! ~Got some okra in our veggie box this week. Have NO clue what to do with it! I've never had it before, that I know of! I got on food network's website and found a chicken and sausage gumbo that'll use most of it. Sounds yummy! Headed to the grocery store tomorrow to get what I need for it and some other dinners for the week. Going to use the rest of it in a okra/tomato dish I also found on their site too. Hope I like okra! ~Accidentally made a FABULOUS dinner tonight! Last night DD and I had a package of mini cheese ravioli. You know the fresh pasta in the plastic containers? Anyway, we had lots left-over, of course. All I do is spray some butter on it and sprinkle with parmesan cheese. Throw on some steamed broccoli once in awhile, if we have it. Yumm! Sooo, in order to use it and do something different, in a large pan I sauteed up a small yellow onion, 4 cloves of garlic, small zucchini, part of a red bell pepper, small japanese eggplant and an heirloom tomato, all chopped. Little olive oil, salt and pepper. The oil and the juice from the tomato helped make a little "sauce." Added the leftover ravioli to heat thru. Sprinkled a little parm cheese on top and OH MY!!! I actually stuffed myself a little b/c it was so damn good! Here I was just trying to change things up a little and get some veggies in and came out with this wonderful thing!
