I would highly suggest you seek out any local WLS support groups as well! they are a great help even if not everyone has lap band! Good luck! And I hope your husband stays safe where ever he is going!

You have every right to be upset because that wasn't your husband's secret to tell and he may need to be reminded that this is your decision, not his. I, however, have told everyone and anyone that asks! I haven't gotten any negative comments since my surgery. Some of my friends were against it when I was first talking seriously about getting it, but they have since moved to being supportive and happy for me. IF there ever was anyone that didn't agree with my decision and they voiced it, I would probably politely tell them to eff off and mind their own business. If someone doesn't like it, then they should be happy that they aren't the ones in that situation! Good luck!

I had surgery on a Wednesday and was back to work the following Monday! I have a sit down, office job as well.

Just remember it's called bandster hell for a reason! The physical and mental hunger you feel WILL go away! It's a real struggle in the beginning, especially when family members don't always take your feelings in to account (my husband got mad at ME for guilt-tripping him for eating in front of me!) Just remember it will pass and you will eat again, even if it seems to take forever!

My doctor chose the realize band for me because he likes the website better for patent interaction. I would agree! I also like the lower profile port

Every WLS requires will power, honey! If you don't have/learn the willpower needed to not overeat, you will suffer (literally) the consiquences. Getting stuck is the band's way of saying "DONT DO THAT!" If you don't learn, you will undoubtly and/or eventually hurt yourself or the band. So just keep that in mind! And please remember there will be times when you are MISERABLE. Bandster hell is real and it sucks! But once you're past it, it's totally worth it My willpower is not wanting to mess anything inside of me up! I don't want to have to have a revision, especially if it is something I could have prevented! Good luck!

Prime is excellent! Don't worry! Just get a letter of necessity from your PCP and you shouldn't have any problems! I was approved in about 3-4 weeks with no issues and I had tricare RS

What kind of tricare do you have? And with your BMI you should have no problems getting approved. As far as dieting, last year tricare didn't require 6 months of dieting beforehand. Of course, the policy could change since it's the new year! Good luck!

Poo makes a difference too! If you aren't regular then your weight WILL go back up before it goes down! This is a major issue with me! I will lose 5 lbs and then gain back 2-3 a day to 2 later, and then I have to up my water and fiber before I go back down to where I was! It can be frustrating but now I just don't weight myself if I haven't been regular in a while. TMI? Maybe. But so true.

I have a friend looking into lap band surgery but she told me she had bulimia in the past (20+ years ago for 5 years). I asked if she thought that would be a problem after being banded and she said definitely no. What I'm wondering is, do you think the pysch eval will be affected by this information? Is there anyone out there with a history of an eating disorder who got approved? Do you think she should even mention it since it was so long ago? Thanks for any input! Erin

A lot of women with PCOS have gotten the lap band specifically to lose weight and get pregnant! there is a smaller section on the website for pregnancy with the lapband and they talk about it a bit there! otherwise, you could also look on pregnancy and baby websites for other bansters with PCOS TTC!
